Affectiveguy - There are a few different reasons as to why your app might not be showing power consumed and given back to the grid. The most common reason is because of older inverter models. There are several different versions of each SolarEdge Inverter, each version adding more features. If you check the serial number on the inverter, there are a few different letters. This can help you determine the model of that inverter. For example, some of the recent series had BNU or BNI in the serial number. Sometimes you can get external attachments that you can connect to older SolarEdge inverters to get some of these features such as consumption monitoring to see how much you are pulling from the grid. Another thing that could be affecting what you can see in the app is what permissions your installer gave you on your site. Some installers give the basic view and other installers give full access. I would reach out to them and ask which view you have been given. NOTE: if you cannot get in touch with your installer, you have ultimate control of your site so you can reach out to SolarEdge and they can adjust your settings or even transfer you to another installer’s monitoring portal.
I’ll tell you why. Are you buying or leasing? You must be leasing. So in other words the company of the solar is the one pocketing all the money that you are giving back to the Grid. I got my solar installed last month and I am getting them leased. I pay 140 for them right now no matter the weather. So now that I’m going into the winter time they hardly produce and I am having to use from the Grid. So in other words I am not getting any credits to which I am not saying any money. Right now I am paying the same amount that I pay in the summer time. I think this may be a scam. They are making money off of us because we don’t own the solar panels. Come this summer if I’m not saving money I’m getting them removed. It’s only worth it if you own them. Did they install batteries in yours?
A good clear explanation, better than anything Solaredge put out. Will you be covering batteries? We have two and our app shows these along with their state of charge etc. The app has just added a Battery Mode section that allows you to sellect settings that are appropriate to your individual use ('Maximise Self Consumption', 'Time of Use', and 'Manual Control'). However there is no detailed explanation of these. What I am unsure about is under Manual Control - Discharging Schedule it states that 'Discharged energy that is not used will be exported to the grid if allowd'. No idea what this means. We do not want to export any energy from the batteries to the grid which this statment implies may occur. Can find nothing about this in the internet or the Solardege site. Any thoughts on this? Regards John
Hello John! We appreciate the feedback. Yes, we will be making a video covering SolarEdge monitoring app and the SolarEdge battery backup. We have filmed some material but they just recently changed a few things so we have to go back and re-film some of the material. We can send you a message once we post the video.
Hi John if your somewhat technical I would recommend installing home assistant on a nas then adding the SolarEdge integration. This will give you a much better view of your batteries and system that the SolarEdge app provides! Cheers
Here's a question. What about all the electric thats being sent to the grid because my system produces so much. When it comes from the grid is that part of what I have stored back there? Or am I losing all of that unused energy. I still get charged for little usage. Under 20 bucks which is great but what happens to all that unused energy? I have a solar edge system. A big one for residential use. In illinois.
Just installed a solar system with backup battery (16kw) to use it in the evening time and backup battery is completely discharged during the two hours even though nothing is turned on in the house.
I have the same solar edge app and just had my solar installed and started. My question is I do not have any consumption statistics? How do I access that?
My screen doesn't have my name at the top or the icons showing what is going into or out of my home. How do I get my screen to match yours? I have version 2.15(11)
Are you able to at least see your production? It could be that you have an older version of the inverter and do not have the equipment installed to show consumption monitoring.
At the current time you are not able to vary the ratio of grid to self consumption. The system will always try to cover the required power in the home (self-consumption) first before sending the excess to the grid.
@@EarthRightMid-Atlantic That's interesting.. I can send you a screen dump about this. On one particular day the solarEdge inverter processed 32 kWh and exported 31.5 kWh when the consumption from the grid was 4.3 kWh. Surely it is controlled by an algorithm ?
Correct, but as David stated, the newer versions of the SolarEdge inverter come with the component of consumption monitoring built into the inverter. They just require a pair of Current Transistors to be installed to this component and then run to your main lines in your main service panel.
@@EarthRightMid-Atlantic That is correct , though as you can see from my other post, no one seems to know why the inverter exports most of the solar production at the expense of consumption. I'm not complaining in these parts as there is a high Feed in Tariff @ $A 0.44 per kWh.
For some reason i am unable to see how much power is being consumed and given back to the grid. I can only see production. Am i missing something?
Same here.

You need a ModBus meter installed to show ALL power flow.
You can order a service for Consumption Monitoring installation From ASC.
The app I have doesn't have the consumption. I can not find a video that explains my app. I would love to have mine show consumption.
My solar edge monitor app does not show the energy balance graph. Are there differences in
the monitoring devices?
This app you are showing is not the version I have ! This app is more detailed ! I have version 2.14.1(2)

Keep in mind the version of your inverter and attachments you have can also affect what things are visible on your monitoring.
Very helpful video. Well presented. Thankyou.

Hi, we have the same issue. Trying to figure out how to fill the battery from the grid during low-cost times

How about battery and heater charger and e-car charger?

Did u find the issue mine is doing the same thing
@@JorgeEspinoza-de3gj They mixed up the input in the inverter two wires. It took two minutes to fix, just changed the input.
Nice job explaining
Thank you @mtebor! We appreciate it!
What about if I bought my house with a solar panel, do i have a way to set this from the inbertor
I’m wondering the same 😢
@skylartamayo6285 I hope they do one soon to see if it really efficient
I have the same solar edge app and just had my solar installed and started. My question is I do not have any consumption statistics? How do I access that?
Are you leasing them?
I would check with your installer to see what level of access they have granted you. See if they can grant you "Dashboard and Layout"
I purchased them outright with no loan

When you don’t have the Solaredge Home Inline energy meter installed, it’s not possible to see self-consumption and related statistics
