Damn, that actually really would be a great piece of, now wouldn't it...
pietrov They just did.. they covered Flatline. It's on Lauren's channel.
I don't think English is his first language. Be nice.
seriously, who dislikes this? this is the best and most honest cover i've seen here of prayer position.
This is insane, if someone played this to me and told me it was the official instrumental I wouldn't doubt it for a second.
Wow! That's quite the compliment. Thank you, there's more to come!
Holy shit that mix is absolutely killer. Easily one of the best produced covers I've ever heard. Earned a sub. I'd love to see a "how I mixed" or something like that cuz this is just amazing.
Sean Griffey Glad you enjoyed it! You would actually be the second to ask for something like this. If more interest is shown, I will definitely create a video on how I mixed this track. Thanks again!
**shows interest**
Honestly dude, I think you should do it regardless. You'd get some major support and subs because people are always looking for "Nolly GetGood" mix instructionals on TH-cam.
Ahhhhhyeeeeeeehh! Sick job boys :)
Sick playing! And the mixing and mastering were completely en pointe!
As an aside, kudos for wearing the Spirited Away tee. 8)
DTxHero21 Thanks a lot! Oh, you know it. :) haha
I think this is the best cover of any song I've ever heard on TH-cam. Mixed well and awesome playing. Killer Spirited Away shirt by the way, it's my favourite movie of all time and it's nice to see it around here. Really good cover guys.
Indi Ghost Thank you for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it!
That first pinch harmonic going into the verse...god damn. Sick
Full band cover, with two musicians. Beautiful.
F*cking awesome cover. The added harmonies at 4:30 are 10/10 work.
Solid cover. 11/10.

Ashwin Poojary Thanks a bunch!
That snare tho
I thought that was Eric haha nice dude
The edits at 3:37 are SWEET
Nate Harrell haha Thanks man!
First off, incredible job on the video and the cover itself! Second i think it'd be really cool and interesting to see your "mix breakdown" of this cover. Just like screen capturing your mixing process. I'm sure most dudes wo listen to periphery would be interested in seeing that
Kamil Sliwinski Thank you sir! I was actually thinking about doing something like this. Maybe I will in the near future if more people ask for it. Don't want to end up making something that takes a long time, and won't be interesting to many.
Awesome cover dudes! Production is also very well done!
Production and the mixing.. Killer!
Michael Daniel Appreciate it!
This was so mixed well, great fucking job, my man! I would love to see a tutorial of Prayer Position on guitar, I'm having a bit of trouble with it haha!
I would definitely watch Eric's tutorial for this song on guitar too. haha
This is the best. That is all.
Nice work, man! :) i mean.. People! Hah, just to show the dedication and authenticity of it all, you have the almost exact Halpern kit. Even the Wraith is there. :) just missing one floor:p
Hahaha You're right man. Our Meinl cymbals are also a little different. But yeah, like you said, just missing that extra larger floor tom. :D
the cymbals.. i did not include:) but the kit itself is really nice, man, sounds good, played by a good drummer, i would say, thats one happy kit:D
Your recording quality is perfect. Maybe just need more boost on bass but the drum sound is amazing.
Hm. This is far better than your previous videos and sounds very close to the original. It will be interesting to see if your next video is up to par...
Liam Knott The next few videos lined up will be drum covers with the original song in the background. There's a few full band covers to be released soon, but they will not be on my channel.
Awesome cover, jawdropping! Which effects are you using for the bass?
Sorry for replying so late! The bass was tricky since I used a Sterling SUB which simply can't compete with Nolly's Dingwall. I pretty much followed Nolly's instructions in his Creative Live course with tweaks to fit my particular bass DI tones. If you don't have access to that you can watch his Nail the Mix process on TH-cam which is similar.
JESUS
Great job with this. I only miss the song in the chorus and the bass part. Apart from that the instruments carry the song more than enough on their own!
Only 18k views? 504 subs? What in the TH-cam GOLD is this?
Adrian You just made it 505 subs. Moving up in the world. :') hahaha Thank You!
Videos are so on point, I have no idea how you don't have more exposure. Will keep an eye on this channel for sure.
Bro this was just insanneeee can i get maybe the guitar dis?🙌
The video quality is impressive, which camera were you using guys? \m/
Thank you. I believe we were both using our extremely outdated Canon T3i’s.
Great cover!
Any chance for the stems for mixing? :D
Great job! Any samples on that kit?
So so good. Any chance you can upload the stems?
mixing is on point! sounds like the record hehe
btw Are the drums natural or sampled?
There are samples layered and blended in with the natural drums.
what did you guys use to record, excellent sound quality. im using an Apogee One sound interface, Logic Pro X running a dynamic mic to a peavey Express 112 solid state amp with an Ltd Guitar. you guys must have some awesome recording gear cuz i dont get this level of quality.
is that a sterling or musicman bass? awesome video!
That's a Sterling SUB 5 bass. It got the job done I guess!
that mix is mean
Thoughts on the Ernie Ball SUB bass? I'm asking because i'm currently in the market for a relatively affordable bass and I'm curious as to what you thought of it.
..and nice spirited away shirt tho
probably alot of editing to get the guitar to sounds so amazing. any pedals? im envious lol
Thanks for the kind words and for checking it out! My chain was very simple. It didn't take too much editing other than nudging a few notes around and cutting excess string noise.
Ormsby TX GTR > DIY-RE Ferrite DI box > Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 > Bias Professional using my own preset (it's called PIIISD in the tone cloud but I left the amp match disengaged) > EQ.
Hey man how do you get the pinch at 0:28 ? I cant seem to get it lol.
I used the second fret instead of the first fret. You kind of have to play around with your right hand position to get the right harmonic note, but when you find it just use a wide and slow vibrato. Instant shred. :D
Might be my strings, what gauge are you using?
I think I used D'Addario EXL110s (10-46) on this. They were pretty loose considering the tuning.
Sub after like 4 notes played. Well done mate
Julian Cavaleri I appreciate you good sir. 😎
So fucking great ! Is that in drop C ?
Eklektik Metalhead Hey thanks man! This is actually in drop A.
Dude you definitely know something about Nolly's mixing and production tricks. The tuning of the drums and the kit itself is absolutely identical to Matt's, not to mention you even used a beta 57a on the snare. Did you watch the creative live event?
Raffaele Sansone Thanks so much. It helps when the guitar and bass tracks sound so good from the start. Yes, I purchased and studied that class obsessively when it came out. Haha
is there any tip you can give away for the snare tuning or it's just the good old tune to a note by ear?
Honestly, I follow Nolly's route of tuning he explains in that creative live class. Equal turns on the lugs in a cross pattern. Ignoring the feel of the lugs and paying more attention to the pitch of each one, using a pitch pipe as reference. I then use a tune-bot to get the lugs 100% with each other.
MichaelRampage is there any particular relationship with the resonant head in terms of pitch? it seems to me that the tighter it is the better the smack of the drum...
