There should be a race where each person assembles his own giant lego car and then drives it in a race. Assembling time would be counted as qualifying.
BeamNG could simulate how the car drives, given the right inputs.
Well, I once participated in a Solar RC Car competition where you have to build the car the day before. Whoever finished building first gets pole.
I was 2nd last to finish building (out of 10) and got 4th. It was hella fun.

Scuffed lego techics
YUP!
Be careful what you wish for, eh?
Being incredibly old, I had this Lego set as my Christmas present in the late 80's when it came out. I can remember to this day how soft the suspension was so this looks about right. I must get that set again off eBay.
I remember playing with this at my cousin's place back in the late '80s and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.
if the suspension is on the softer side, maybe it would be better for rallying? If Jimmer could mod this into a rally sim of some kind, maybe it'd work better.

Now I'm imagining the 8880 set (which had a 4-speed transmission, a V8, AWD *and* all-wheel steering) given the Niels treatment.
I did that exact thing... not good..
Imagine getting a puncture because a lego piece falled off
Wouldn't your lego car's tyre get bigger?
Difficult to puncture those tyres. And if a piece does fall off, you can just click it back in place.

Why I love Jimmy:
I have had chronic pain for 41 years. Today I wake up thinking “today is the day my soul breaks.” And there’s Jimmy BROADBENT driving an F-ing LEGO CAR and suddenly I’m laughing and my will to live is replenished!❤️
No punterino Jimmer!
Sometimes all you need is one nutty friend.
2:48 I owned this beast when I was a kid. It was bloody expensive my parents got it for me for Christmas. Moving pistons, gearbox, with 4 gears, steering wheel which turned the wheels, pop up lights, fully adjustable seats, fully independant suspension...Technic lego at its best....oh the nostalgia!
Jimmy: Feeling pretty tired, I might take a break
Also Jimmy: Works even harder!
Not complaining :)
Pff, when i was driving this, back at the age of 10, right before bedtime, 30-ish years ago, i was far the superior driver to you Jimmy! I would never hit anything for my brakes we're immediate, the grip was great on the carpet, and all the seats and tables that made up the circuit we're fixed in place.
This thing has too much grip. How fast can a hovercraft lap the Nordschleife?
A better question is "CAN a hovercraft do a full lap of the Nordschleife".
THIS. MAKE HIM DO THIS
if you put fans facing sideways you can have a quite big amount of "grip"
Then is just, in the clarkson way, power, power, power
Car: *handles well*
Jimmy: “it’s damaged”
OMG! I saw the thumbnail and had to click. I remember getting this Lego set for Christmas when I was a kid. I loved it! So many working parts. The gear shifter worked, the suspension was awesome. Even had a working differential and moving pistons. What a nostalgia trip!
I literally have this exact car in Lego from the 1980s. My dad found his old Lego stash recently.
I genuenly thought he was gonna drive an actual lego car
Now let's see a new version of this with some proper grippy tires. Maybe Neil can make the 8880? 8880 has a 4wd 4ws V8 supercar as the primary and a gorgeous F1 car as a secondary!
A fellow man of culture, I see...
5:09 The Broadbent Interlocking brick system construction vehicle racing series confirmed!
The way this thing drives really reminds me of the RUF CTR Yellowbird's Nordschleife lap from 1987. Massive speed, old tyre and brakes technology and the back of the car constantly trying to overtake the front xD!
That Gran Turismo 2 menu BGM thooooo 💖💗💓
Jimmy I appreciate you still making the Nurb videos every once and awhile. I know they can get a little repetitive for you but we love um. You rule.
I actually had this model as a kid, and it taught me how a gearbox, differential and wishbone suspension worked as they were all fully done, amazing stuff for a young mind. then my mate fell and sat on it one day and I couldn't summon the motivation to rebuild, it was a big project.
but yeah it was proper 'bendy ' I don't imagine it would actually drive well lol great experiment
Pit this against a version of the red and yellow Little Tikes car for the ultimate Childhood Dream Championship...
So, this versus a SmartCar?
Honestly, a full lego car like the Lego Bugatti would be somewhat safe for the driver. As long as all the pieces can break free, each piece brick is basically a crunch. If you have hundreds of thousands or even millions of pieces, that's a ton of crunch to take away a lot of energy. Hit a wall and Legos fly absolutely everywhere, but you walk away without a scratch.
When I saw this vid in my sub box, I thought: "Who the heck would ... Oh, of course, it's Jimmer" - and you gotta love the man for it xD
This thing looks much better suited to a *rally stage* more than anything. Big, high-profile tyres with thick treads on narrow rims made with a hard rubber compound? Sounds like it'd be a good fit on a rally with very coarse, stony gravel like Rally Cyprus.
“It’s got the same amount of grip on grass, interesting.” I don’t know why that was so funny to me. 🤣
Not just any "Lego" Jimmer, its Technics Lego. This was Lego on steroids. I had this kit when I was about 8. You could also make it into a Jeep/Land Rover type affair. Takes me back!!
Quality vid Jimmy. Absolutely love this 🔥🔥🔥😂👍 keep em coming
OMG i had this Lego car when i was a little boy. Must be over 30 years ago. It was amazing with the suspension, moving cylinders in the engine and even a differential.
13:42 It is his passion, same with my artworks... No purpose at all, but I love making stuff. It brings me joy.
I guess you could say he's really bricking it
You really should learn to LEGO.
love the open ttd feeling music youve got going on, fits your personality quite well
A true classic!!! Bedankt Niels!!
This makes me curious what the other lego technic cars would be like. I have one that's probably 8-10 years updated from that one, and I think the rounded off-road tires and such may make an interesting difference, though it'd probably be absolutely wallowey.
My Brother and I had this kit as kids. Absolutely amazing.
When a car handles better after a crash than before, you know substances were used in the design process.
The background music was driving me nuts cause it's so familiar. For those who want to know it's South City menu music from Gran Turismo 2 :) Also good effort there Jimmy :P
Did you spread some Lego on your rig for full immersion?
Direct drive wheel... with LEGO motors!

Have you had the Gran Turismo 2 car music in the background of a lot of your videos? If so, I've only just noticed! Quality touch that, the first game I ever played on my dads PS1 at the age of 4! In the Team Oreca Viper! I know its only music but threw back so many memories! I actually bought the game again recently for lockdown and got back on the grind! Great content as always my guy 🙌
So, this car simulates typical BMW drivers at the 'Ring.
Stay woke
This would be even funnier in BeamNG, with all the bricks threatening to fall apart when you crash!
I always wanted the 8865 car as a kid but wasn't really old enough to talk my parents into getting it for Xmas or B'day for me.
On the plus side by the time I was old enough for a big technic kit the 8880 was available, would love to see Niels model one of those for Jimmer. With AWD, a 4 speed gearbox, 4 wheel steering, a mid mounted V8 (with round pistons, ooooooh fancy) and grippier looking tyres it might be a slightly more effective Nordschleife weapon.
more jammer broadbonk antics is a great cure for depression
thank you
I wanted that model like crazy when I was a kid. I had the one that came before it, which was just a chassis with no body frame. I'm oldish. It only had rear suspension.
Thank you so much for the GT absolute bangers in the background
Niels: exists
Rebel tree: *grabs popcorn*
Do 8880 next... The 4ws, 4wd, and 4spd would be _Highly Entertaining_ (...) If not, why not race all the 1:8 lego technic cars against each other to see which is fastest...
Jimmy and his ideas... Again. This man is just great. Fantastic.
Good video Jimmy, stay happy and positive!
My dad had that Lego Technic car, and one day I build it, I'm pretty sure it's the exact same your driving, that's amazing!
I have this exact same Lego car irl. Childhood ay
"This video, like most other videos of mine, is just screaming. It's just a man, not driving very well, in a car." A simple recipe to attract over 600k subscribers.
Speaking of Covid as we are going into lockdown tonight in Brisbane Australia so keep the videos coming they are always amusing
If any car mod deserved a full damage model, little LEGO Technic pieces all over the track would be it.
Absolutely glorious:
I watch a guy who tries to survive a lap in a lego car and almost dies in every corner
TH-cam Ad: Do you want to get faster and more consistent in Sim Racing?

Realistic lego car makes you appreciate body roll. Jimmer seesawing at the wheel like he's GPLaps driving a car from the 50s.
How does he not have 1mil subs? very underrated
TH-cam doesn't recommend him idk
I had that Lego set as a kid. It was awesome

From the driving dynamics, it seems like it handles like a very light Porsche with a very heavy engine.
Love you man. You are awesome

Oh, I dreamed about that lego set when I was kid.
i love the gt2 music in the background
How about doing a rally stage with this car, the tyres might have better traction in the dirt...
I had this car as a kid! Awesome!
It sounds like a weird spider, but its brilliant, you definitely need to race it jimmer!
I actually had that car. Took me 3 days just to build the V4 engine and another 2 days to do the transmission. I was madly in love with it.
I want to see a recreation of the Nurburgring 24 hours in this Lego car, without crashing.
I'm really impressed at how well they've managed to model SF-1000
OMG I had this car for Christmas around 1991, still got it.......and the box too. Missing bits though.
Drifting seems the method of the madness of the Lego car.
At least the car will give on impact. Another good thing is if you crash the car, you steal a child's box of legos and you can fix your car from there
Lego 8880 would be great next! That one has proper tires, 4 wheel drive and 4 gears.
