Mr. Chester Burton Atkins! As a guitar player I have admired this man my entire life. Taste, tone, magic and incredible technique. How can anyone love guitar and not love Chet Atkins!
He created a lot of sound from only 6 strings and so smoothly.
Chet is one of my biggest guitar influences, if not the biggest.
Look at all those lovely Gretsch guitars.
Wow. The thought of us not having him any more. There will probably never be another guitar talent like him again.
Great Clip Of The Best Guitarist That The World Will Ever Know !!!!
vern ingles no argument here!
Not an opinion but a Fact Chet Atkins is The Greatest !
Paul Pavao not even close. Are you serious?
Tommy Emmanuel is the 2nd best
2nd best. THE best guitarist died at age 27.
Came from very humble background.sure he could get plenty of work playing country.he put many players out of business in Nashville he wanted to go to a higher level.boy did he.
The early years were something to behold. Still awestruck by these recordings.
The country gentleman
My favourite guitarist of all time
I am proud i knew hin and His nice familY! Love you Merle,
Chet led the way and taught the world how play fingerstyle.
Classical guitarist have always played fingerstyle.
Chet's guitar tone just has a snap to it that no one else has.
Chester played to Kings and Queens around the world, sat in for a few Hank Sr recording sessions and the Carter family. He inspired Mark Knopler, Scotty Moore and George Harrison to ponder life as serious guitarist musicians. He's musical royalty who had seen and done it all. Credit.
I taught myself his unique finger picking style when I was 13, and I've played that way ever since. There will never be another like him. On a side note, did anyone else notice Jackie Phelps sitting behind him with his custom guitar?
I had a Jackie Phelps album in the mid 70s Jackie was a great finger picker.I followed a f picker around 1969/71 It took me nearly 2 yrs to separate my fingers& thumb,I thought I was stupid but it's hard to do. I sorta changed worked on chord harmonies,Don't think I will be able to play much longer hands getting weak I'm 70 that thot kills me!.
I still can't do it!! Any tips?
On some his "live-to-tape" performances, he's actually playing lead guitar (only) to his pre-recorded rhythm and sometime also bass) guitar track(s). Other times, he had a live backing group. His leads are still brilliant, 2nd (in those days) only to Les Paul.
Mind blowing!
Amazing talent his legacy lives on
Love the section with Floyd Cramer on the piano.
a sound n style all his own. unique
Haughtiness Guitariste Magicien ** Chet Atkins ** Legendary

Chet was always great, but I LOVE the early years.

Great work.
What song
The best guitar player and my Big inspiration 🎸❤️🤠🔥
There was about a 40 year period where there was Chet, and the next best wasn't even close. It was like Usain Bolt of the 100 meter dash in the Olympics.
The first thing I learnt to play when I took up the guitar in 1964 was Walk Don’t Run after I heard Chet Atkins play it.
The one and only!!
Just found out about chet atkins.. I instantly had to learn his picking style.. its incredible... you can make it sound like 2 guitars playing with just your right hand and simple chords.... sweet
Welcome to the club!
"Instantly?" I'm impressed.😁🤩🤩😁
To play like him you need a Gretsch guitar.
yep
I preferred the Gretsch years, having started with the Teensville album.
Did you see that ending at 7:15?
Just thrown my guitar in the bin.
3:30 woman on the left forgot to take the price tag off her hat
That's Minnie Pearl with her signature hat. It's supposed to be like that.
What is the name of the tune at the 6:00 mark? Seems familiar, but I don't know the title.
Darude - Sandstorm
The Peanut Vendour. Sometimes he sang parts of it
1:20 2:20 fボールがない😲
Were it oonized my get a guitar
4:22 can't figure out if that's a some kind of "tassle" or decoration on that lady in front of Chets hat... Or the price tag still hanging off the hat lol Giving her the benefit of the doubt it's probably a decoration not a price tag. But it sure does look an aweful lot like a price tag
Chet married Leona in 1946 and they were together over 50 years.
In the first videos there is a ring on his hand but it does not look like a wedding ring.
In the later videos I don't see a ring.
????????
What’s the song at 9 minutes in?

Poor people of paris
Sorry, poor people of Paris is the second song, i remember the First Song Lyrics Something Like "lin french they say Oui oui,in spain they say si si etc, try to remember correct words
Say Si Si - quite a few covers of it on YT
Alright then, the First Titel ist say si si!
My Gretch won't do this.
Atkins played flamenco? hahahahahahahaha hahaha don't make me laugh!!! Atkins didn't even really understand flamenco, if he played a couple of tunes that's fine, but he just did NOT have what it takes to play flamenco.
Flamenco is something that is on another level
I think some people may have some misconceptions on what made Chet so admired and respected amongst musicians- I don’t believe he claimed to be a master of any style, he was a professional musician especially in the sense of studio / producer. Yes there are better players that perform flamenco as their primary style, what made Chet unique was his technical application to most any style needed, in studio or live performance. Chet obviously had no intentions of being a show off. There were plenty of show offs in the world of music already. Real musicians pay respect to Chet, you might need try to look from a different disposition he is a very valuable study for a musician.
Chet did play flamenco. Not among the greatest of the flamenco guitarists, but was accomplished in the genre, nevertheless: th-cam.com/video/_IzJ2Z-aybE/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/B86nv0KJYe8/w-d-xo.html
gay
Chet knew how, and even studied classical guitar with Segovia.
