I got the A6700 and 70-350 G lens as a lightweight walk-around wildlife photography setup. I am amazed at how much I like it - for me, the 1.1kg total weight of that setup is liberating after carrying around heavy long lenses on full-frame bodies. Its performance has been excellent, and no one but me would know which of my photos are shot with this lightweight APS-C setup - It is amazing when it cost a fraction of the amount of my full frame gear.
The A6600 and A6700 both have the same EVF magnification of 1.07x (0.70x 35mm equivalent). As far as I can tell from the official specifications from Sony the A6700's EVF is identical to the A6600's EVF
I was going to spring for the FX30 as my top APSC upgrade, but this will take it's place. I've got the glass I need now, thanks to the ZV-E10. At the top end of my budget unlike the FX-30. Very impressed.
This hit all the things I hoped and thought it needed - 10bit, 4k60 no crop, weather sealing, and less rolling shutter, all under $1500. Nailed that and I am tempted, but still want to see what all is coming down the pipeline through the end of the year in the full frame models, and especially in the FX series or higher end. Waiting just allows me to save a few more $$$ and keep looking for a used FX3 or such. But anyway, super solid offering. I did see a few reviews already running into overheating shutdowns, which is still a no go for me in Arizona. Do too much long format streaming/web and outdoor videos. Will see though. Cheers Mark. a6700 is the dream apsc upgrade, i was a little worried sony might hold out some features for the full fram alone or its zv series alone but looks like they gave almost all the new features from all the new sony cameras- sensor, gyro, active stable, 4k60, 4k120, live streaming, touch screen, front dial, type c, AI, auto framing, deeper grip, and so on....only thing now is official price. if it really comes at 1400 usd, it will be a good price. more than tan that might make it difficult. a6700 i feel would be a disruptive camera for the entire apsc system. exciting!!!
So many reviewers didn't say anything that a6700 got gyro. Thank you for saying everything important for actual apsc users. I will wait for your a6700 zv e10 zv e1 comparison

I have an a6600 which works great. I also have an A74 which works great. I ordered an a6700 because the upgrades are worth it to me. The lighter weight of the APS C cameras makes active wildlife photography much easier.
People always complain about the single card slot on this camera. But I've been using Sony hybrid cameras since 2016 and broadcast production cameras since 2008 and I've never once lost footage due to the lack of dual card slots. Mind you I did lose footage but it was a case of me losing the card itself and in that instance I was doing personally and not professional work.
the only time i have lost footage was actually the card itself falling apart. I have known people who have corrupted cards too. So it's always nice to have a backup.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yeah I can understand wanting to have a backup. I've had corrupted cards as well but I guess was always lucky enough to recover them.
After a few days of testing, I can definitely say the camera has overheating issues. Specifically, when the HDMI port is used for an external monitor or for livestreaming. The camera will shut down after about an hour for me. Seems there are other video creators and forum post popping up with the same conclusions.
I saved this video especially for this night and finally watch it in peace. I think I'll just leave another comment after this video. Yep. Because you are doing the best content. :D

*Maybe I can shed some light on this:* I've currently on the A7S III, mostly for video, with the Fujifilm X100V as a photo camera. I've extensively looked into the X-S20, hours of research, and unfortunately I am still undecided. But here are the takeaways, that may or may not help you make a decision: *First the good* ✅ The X-S20 has some banger features for video: Open Gate, 4k60p, 10bit - all amazing! ✅ The camera is quite small (I played with it in-store), but doesn't feel particularly cheap ✅ The price is very fair and the lens selection generally is really good ✅ The price and value of the 18-55 kit lens combo cannot be beaten ✅ Comes with all the latest Fujifilm film simulations, which for photography, is amazing ✅ Screen is touch, but was a little unresponsive, not fun to use HOWEVER... ‼ The camera overheats easily, similar to the Sony ZV-E1 ‼ The autofocus, while significantly improved, is still not fantastic ‼ Particularly the AI eye auto focus hunts all the time ‼ The hunting gets better or worse, subject to the actual lens (many good lenses hunt, sadly) ‼ The face detect auto focus is somewhat reliable, not as much as Sony though I'm still tempted, but I honestly think I won't go for it, particularly for video. For photography, maybe something smaller like the X100V or an older, smaller model would suffice?
@TechWandererYT All of those features especially the film simulations were the things that stood out to me. But living in Florida, the overheating would be an issue so guess that answers it. Also would love to grab an X100V but not willing to pay the markup for it yet lol
@@jmizzy15 I live in Dubai, very similar weather, same thoughts unfortunately. As for the X100V, honestly, just order it retail from B&H. I hear they get a few handful of units every week and it shouldn't take longer than a few weeks to get yours!
I am sold at 4K60 and no crop, and also for 4K120 (not that I need to use this frequently) but the stabilisation that really attracts me. BUT, A7C II is just around the corner, and from the "rumour", it is equivalent to 6700 minus that 4K120. So............................................................ I'll have to wait just a little bit more.
12:41 crazy, the low light performance difference between APSC and FF is still enormous. I know this is because physical reason of “bigger pixels”, but I thought due to advanced technology, we’ll grt to the point where its just indistinguishable.. well I was wrong. waiting for the day that happens

I just watched the Sony release video of the a6700. Insane price and specs. The a6700 would make a great B-cam to the FX30. Really the one thing the FX30 has over the a6700 is the dual base ISO. Whereas the FX30 has the full sized HDMI and dual SD card slots. But, at $1,398 the a6700 is hard to ignore. If you're not one for the dual ISO of the FX30, then the a6700 is an excellent choice.
@@Minsetti Not likely. It has the same sensor as the FX30. So, the dynamic would be the same. The FX30 has dual base ISO, which puts it above the a6700 in low light situations.
@@AllThingsFilm1 What do you mean by that? The higher base ISO doesn't make the footage less noisy than lower ISOs. Just the dynamic range will be at maximum but it's the same in a6700.

the 10-bit and 4k30 direct using USB Streaming without a capture card is great! I am using a ZV-E10, but it's limited to 720p without using a capture card and 8-bit but zv-e10 is like $800 and this one is $1400, a huge gap
I’ve got 3 ZVE10. You pick them up for 600€ and the last one I got for even 500€ at Amazon. You can’t beat them for the price. But men this 6700, skip the photostuff and release it’s as a blog style camera for 900€, would be sweet

The Sony ZV-E10's microphone input has a limited bandwidth with a bass roll-off filter and has issues with line-level audio devices - I wonder if Sony fixed that with the A6700...
If you already have ff e mount lenses pay $150 more to get a7c. If you already have apsc lenses only or you are just starting your photography journey and don't need to upgrade to ff this a6700 is a fool proof for the next 10 years

How does it compare to the X-S20? - 6.2k open gate, 7 stops IBIS (2 more than Sony), 4k60 webcam for external recording and power with 1 cable (no drivers needed), 10bit 4:2:2 360mbit (vs 100mbit on the Sony), raw video external recording, 13+ stops dynamic range, nicer screen, joystick, 30fps stills, fuji colours, better app, cheaper, there's a lot to like!
Please give more information about: HDR-mode - does it improved or the same, test in-camera focus stacking actually works, does panorama mode back or no, and may be more details that is important, but not hype.
HDR mode is the same. It has focus bracketing, not in-camera focus stacking - you do it yourself in post. No panorama mode. This is why these things are no highlighted. I did a 20 minute video that showed the pros and cons and pointed out this is Sony's best value camera. Please do not say things - "hype" regarding my review when I did as straight forward and unbiased of a review as I can. I will not apologize for saying the camera is good when it is. There are a lot of people who jump on negativity because they like certain brands or other cameras - and those people insult reviewers with buzz words like "hype" or biased or sponsored when none of it is true. Try not to be in this negative mindset and it will be easier to answer questions you might have.
If forced to choose, would you take Sony A6700 or ZVE1? I’m loving A7IV, but miss little ZVE10 size. I don’t see a huge difference between APSC and full frame, except for low light. I love vlogging even though I’m shy. Editing is so fun.
The single card slot turned me off. I will be keeping my A7IV then. I had 2 occasions when one of my SD cards got corrupted during my vacation, and thanks to redundant storage on my A7IV I did not lose any footage.
Nice video! Well done! Looks like a great upgrade! Just watched the PETA Pixel review and they liked as well, though they found it did overheat in 4K 24 in 46 minutes and @60 around 26 minutes, both at room temperature. Perhaps you had better airflow? Regardless, likely fine for most of us and if serious about video they note the fx30 the best choice. Thought the stab looked fine while vlogging. You covered that so well! Looking forward to another fantastic review for the A7c II !
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Jordan specifically notes they did set it to high but as you noted others don’t seem to have the same results (another n example: Gordon Laing didn’t have an issue at lower frame rates, but did at 50p). Jordan’s video section coverage was good, noted the crops but didn’t cover the stabilization nearly as well as you, at least for this review.

The hdmi connection definitely adds heat. I’ve had no issues in my studio live streaming for hours over usbc without the monitor connected

@@jmizzy15 Im shooting Raw. Just grab the DxO Filmpack software and you have all film simulations. And there is no overheating in Photo 😄

The biggest disappointment of the A6700 is that it doesn't have Sony's new 8 stop IBIS like the A7R V. If you want stabilization wait for the A7 V.

the 10-bit and 4k30 direct using USB Streaming without a capture card is great! I am using a ZV-E10, but it's limited to 720p without using a capture card and 8-bit
but zv-e10 is like $800 and this one is $1400, a huge gap
I’ve got 3 ZVE10. You pick them up for 600€ and the last one I got for even 500€ at Amazon. You can’t beat them for the price. But men this 6700, skip the photostuff and release it’s as a blog style camera for 900€, would be sweet

The Sony ZV-E10's microphone input has a limited bandwidth with a bass roll-off filter and has issues with line-level audio devices - I wonder if Sony fixed that with the A6700...

If you already have ff e mount lenses pay $150 more to get a7c. If you already have apsc lenses only or you are just starting your photography journey and don't need to upgrade to ff this a6700 is a fool proof for the next 10 years

How does it compare to the X-S20? - 6.2k open gate, 7 stops IBIS (2 more than Sony), 4k60 webcam for external recording and power with 1 cable (no drivers needed), 10bit 4:2:2 360mbit (vs 100mbit on the Sony), raw video external recording, 13+ stops dynamic range, nicer screen, joystick, 30fps stills, fuji colours, better app, cheaper, there's a lot to like!
There is a lot to like with that Fuji - I'll be trying to get one in soon.
Please give more information about: HDR-mode - does it improved or the same, test in-camera focus stacking actually works, does panorama mode back or no, and may be more details that is important, but not hype.
HDR mode is the same. It has focus bracketing, not in-camera focus stacking - you do it yourself in post. No panorama mode. This is why these things are no highlighted. I did a 20 minute video that showed the pros and cons and pointed out this is Sony's best value camera. Please do not say things - "hype" regarding my review when I did as straight forward and unbiased of a review as I can. I will not apologize for saying the camera is good when it is. There are a lot of people who jump on negativity because they like certain brands or other cameras - and those people insult reviewers with buzz words like "hype" or biased or sponsored when none of it is true. Try not to be in this negative mindset and it will be easier to answer questions you might have.

If forced to choose, would you take Sony A6700 or ZVE1? I’m loving A7IV, but miss little ZVE10 size. I don’t see a huge difference between APSC and full frame, except for low light. I love vlogging even though I’m shy. Editing is so fun.
probably the a6700 so I wouldn’t have to worry about overheating so much

The single card slot turned me off. I will be keeping my A7IV then. I had 2 occasions when one of my SD cards got corrupted during my vacation, and thanks to redundant storage on my A7IV I did not lose any footage.

Nice video! Well done! Looks like a great upgrade! Just watched the PETA Pixel review and they liked as well, though they found it did overheat in 4K 24 in 46 minutes and @60 around 26 minutes, both at room temperature. Perhaps you had better airflow? Regardless, likely fine for most of us and if serious about video they note the fx30 the best choice. Thought the stab looked fine while vlogging. You covered that so well! Looking forward to another fantastic review for the A7c II !
Gerald got the same numbers as I did. So I think that they probably forgot to set the internal temp to hight
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Jordan specifically notes they did set it to high but as you noted others don’t seem to have the same results (another n example: Gordon Laing didn’t have an issue at lower frame rates, but did at 50p). Jordan’s video section coverage was good, noted the crops but didn’t cover the stabilization nearly as well as you, at least for this review.

I was using a new Lav mic in the vid - so maybe it was that - but the preamps in the Sony seemed good

I thank you for your great advice regarding the Canon r10, you were right that i should not buy the r10. I am so very glad that i took your advice, I very definately know that this Sony is the camera for me, I already liked some of their lenses before this model appeared. Thankyou.
