Re: a6700 overheating. The results from different channels are all over the map. My copy did quite well comparatively, but if you're considering purchasing this camera, I'd err on the safe side and go with the 40-50 minute results just to be safe. I talked with Jordan from PetaPixel and we tested almost identically and I got nearly an hour longer than him. Not sure how to explain that. 🤷‍♂ I'll test a retail copy when I can and update you. 👍

With non stop stills/photography in climate of at least 79-85F, do you think that would cause the 6700 to overheat? We pre-ordered this camera but now doubting if it's a bad idea with the overheating that could happen if we use this for photography in locations with warmer climate/travel. The other reviews don't even mention the possibility of it overheating

But which one would be the smartest option? I mostly do cinematography and some photography. I know I also have to think about lenses, accesories, ect..Let me know if you have any tips! thanks!

Just put a couple small rubber o-rings around the jangly triangles. They will pinch against the mounts and keep them from jangling. Does make them stick out sideways, but they remain flexible, so not an issue. I do it with all my Sonys.

Oh yes, keep the battery door open-Great to Lose Batteries & Help Sony's competition with Tesla Lithium-Save the Planet Policies. One more caveat: Keep the SD Card Slot Open Too. If you google for "dpreview video stills tool" - and you chose e.g. a6300 (4K UHD) vs a6700 (4K UHD), well, the a6300 footage is superior (at least to my eyes!)
The setup claims to be on same lens/aperture etc
So how can the much older a6300 produce better S35 4K video footage compared to this new a6700 is a mystery to me
Both APS-C bodies claim to produce 4K from oversampled 6K
However the a6300 is CMOS whilst the a6700 is BSI-CMOS. Could that be the difference?
As far as pixel bining goes - I m not sure what's the case for the a6300/a6700
Or could it be the case that this DPreview video tool isn't too reliable

The fact that this camera has breathing compensation and the a7 SIII still doesn't is yet another slap in the face from Sony. Let's not forget that they're pushing new cameras into consumer's hands without investing in the longevity of their older "flagship" cameras. The more new cameras that come out with features the a7 SIII should have, the more I feel forgotten and disrespected by Sony.

If they added breathing comp to all of their more expensive flagship cameras those prosumers would spend more on glass. That would be a business decision that benefits the company.

If youre asking mainly about the video dynamic range then theres no question the a6700 is better, considering it has 10bit 4:2:2 compared to a6600 only having 8bit. You can now properly make use of the SLog3 picture profile and get a better dynamic range.
When it comes to photos I think they would probably be the same with the a6600 but a6700 would slightly be better because it using a newer and better sensor with 2MP more.

Not to mention that the X-S20 has much better screen resolution, a joystick, can shoot 30fps stills (20 with unlimited jpegs), fuji colors, better app, and $550 cheaper where I live. The Sony wins on weather sealing, 4k 120p, slightly better viewfinder magnification, native iso and probably better af, but X-S20 is definitely better value where I live, and neither are pro level when it comes to the hardware.

No more explaining to my girlfriend why I refuse to film video in portrait now that I can crop the open gate footage for either landscape or her "instagram stories" 😂 - I'm sure the Sony AF is much better, but hoping Fuji's improvements make it "good enough".
It is a close call though, both are great cameras. Fuji do tend to support their cameras much better though, my old X-T3 got the latest XApp where flagship A7S III cameras aren't receiving basic functionality that Sony added to their entry level cameras, shameful!

A6600 rear screen has 921,600 dot, A6700 has 1.04m dot. One card slot, again. I feel Sony could have really knocked it out of the park and could have charged us a premium and I would have paid it. you gotta think about the market they’re targeting here. most people buying a 4k cinema camera aren’t using it to stream. and if you are streaming at that caliber, you are likely using an ATEM switcher.

    • @Kaotix_music

@@williamhelena7592 the idea is my camera is the same sensor, better guts inside (or probably the same) and something as simple as a software feature they exclude from the more expensive camera, but put it in the less expensive camera. The fact of the matter is - USB streaming IS in the FX30 and FX3. These are "video" cameras. The A6700 is a "hybrid" camera. Not really meant for video, but there if you want it and takes really nice photos. They give THAT camera 4k 30fps streaming and leave us stuck at 1080.
Yes, for more serious work with more than ONE camera - i would use an ATEM switcher. But what if I want one camera, one angle, plugged straight into my computer to get that stream? I only get 1080p? Its a video first camera. That makes no sense. The A6700 is not a video first camera, but when it comes to the USB Streaming option - suddenly it is now? Its about having the options. An option they can easily put into those cameras with a simple firmware update. But we all know how Sony likes to be with firmware updates to give us features thats on the camera that came out today, but not a camera that just came out 6 months ago.

For Aps-c Fuji is clearly a better choice with a much wider range of bodies and lenses, with the potential for a very small setup like the X-E4 plus 27 f2.8 or one of the f2 lenses, or a high end setup like the XH2 cameras, with high resolution screens and viewfinders, dual cardslots and great ergonomics. Wow, some of these features sounded like the things that low-budget shooters would request to be implemented on cheaper bodies as well with everyone fully aware that no manufacturer would put those premium features into lower-priced cameras - until now. Very unexpected but awesome!

I’m mainly video, but I went with the 6700 over the fx30. Rather not have so many buttons and a bulkier camera 👍

I’m Fuji XT2 stills shooter. Always jealous of Sony AI AF. How far apart is the XS20 vs A6700 AFC eye tracking ?

@@mattdebyl8806 X-S20 is also magnesium alloy and it has greatly improved AF. AF is still behind Sony, but not a big factor anymore. However, it also packs a joystick, twice as high screen resolution, 30 stills/second vs 11, much better JPEGs and colors sooc, more custom modes, a new much improved app, and not least better IBIS. Sony wins on weather sealing and native ISO, but I don't see it as a better camera, and where I live the price difference is $550 so going Fuji is a nobrainer.

Still wonder how this camera have the new menu layout, focus breath comp, Animal Eye AF, and ability to import LUT. Now a $1400 camera have all those feature that my $3500 A7sIII doesn't. Doesn't make any sense at all. 😮‍💨
