I agree, I play this sort of stuff in my flat all the time, my flat mates hate it. I think it just depends what people are brought up on, that and they see it as 'old people music' instead of just a genre of swing and jazz.

I'm 87 years old now and I miss the 30s, 40s, and 50s romantic jazz so much. I do like the later honest versions of it a lot and Michael Buble is an excellent example. Romance, quality, and style may fade in art but it can never be replaced.

I beg to differ. Please listen to the original recording by Nat King Cole. Michael's version is nice but not comparable to the original version.

If you were older , you would realise there much better singers than this in the 1950s . Most of the singers that were attached to every dance band were better ( and paid much less ) , but you're too young to know . He would have been no better than a ' club turn ' then , but times, and standards change .

I've been thinking that Michael Buble sings better songs than most of todays music artists.
I'm surprised no one has commented on this recording. The imaging and depth is almost 3D even when listening through an iPad! The recording technique of his vocal is particularly interesting because the dynamic range from his breathing to his loudest transients are the same color and effortlessly delivered and clarity. I know they can automate the volume of every millisecond of his voice track but this is truly a modern reference standard for ballad vocal recording. Bravo tracking engineer when ever you are!!!
I know what you mean, 3D... good one...in the sense of hyper-clarity of tonal range, allowing for the singers natural colouring or technical singing decisions to stand out from the accompanied sound/arrangement... but, this isn't auto-enhanced per say, I don't believe, in the sense of ehancing (framing) every modulation throughout the track... One thing I always hoped they would do is 'front mike' Buble as they did at Capitol Records in the 1950s for Nat Cole an Martin and Sinatra and others... so that the vocal sounds came out sounding 'fronted' in relation to the instrumentals 'behind'... the blending of the sound production actually comes from quadrants of encasing mikes and over heads all blended, BUT, emphasising the vocal as a primary particular of the over all 'mix'... that gave a distinctive 'presentation' to the singer and you could LITERALLY hear the breakages and harmony runs etc of the singer... as is apparent here... sort of old school, but with a hyper-intensive sensitivity to the recording at every line interval so it all sound seamless...
Perfect phrasing, perfect voice, perfect feeling! What a gift from God! God bless you, Michael Bublé

It is impossible not to cry when listening to this overwhelmingly magnificent interpretation of a timeless and classical piece.... It moves me to tears every single time.
