I recently lost my son to cancer. He was only 40. The hole in my heart is huge and yes each time I listen to this song, I cry my eyes out. But the lyrics are exactly what a father feels and thinks.

I still can’t help crying just as I did on his shoulder for a too brief dance… The most special memory I will forever be grateful for…just as I am grateful for my baby boy from the first moment I felt him. The skies and stars didn’t glow nearly as bright as the moment I saw his eyes for the first time…thank you for capturing the love I/we have for our babies.

This brought tears to my eyes, I sure do miss my daughter. This reminds me of my thirty six year old daughter, I raised her up by myself since she was nine months old. I only get to see her every two years she lives in another state. She has always been my best friend and we always support each other. She is doing so well in her career and I am so proud of her. Thank you Michael for making this beautiful song.
When I left for college a few years ago, I really missed my mom. I didn't always tell her because I wanted to learn to be independent, but I wished I could see her more often. Just know that your daughter loves you even if she doesn't always have time to call or visit.

My son will be 1 month old tomorrow. My husband and I struggled with infertility for 11 years and went through several rounds of IVF before our little one was born. He came early and spent his first week in NICU. Thank God, he is doing so great now! If you're a parent, be thankful for your kids and give them the best of yourself. Many people would give anything to be in your shoes. ❤
Agreed! We tried for 7 years for our miracle and were lucky our first ivf was successful. He's 9 years old now and it's gone so fast. Enjoy every second. The line 'you know that you're the one that we've been waiting for' gets me every time. As you know yourself, when you've waited years you can really relate!
I can relate to you. My little sister (sry I’m a kid) Evelyn was born 3 months prematurely so my dad, stepmom, and brother were all kind of up in the air about wether not she was gonna survive. When I first met her it was a feeling I couldn’t explain. She had to get a feeding tube and I can imagine as a parent watching your kid suffer or be ill like that. Thank God she was able to make it out on my stepmoms birthday.
I didn't have fertility issues but my daughter was born 5 weeks early and spent her first 6 weeks in the NICU so I feel your pain. My daughter will be one on the 23rd of this month and it kills me how fast time flies.

When I had my daughter I sang "I Saw God Today" to her only seconds after she was born, they were still stitching me back together. I'm due with my son in January 2023 and I've been looking everywhere for a song to sing to him when he's born. Every song either seems to be about a boy being all grown up or falling in love and the songs that aren't all seem to be about daughters. Hearing this song, I know it's the song I will sing to him. It doesn't focus on getting/being older, just the promise of loving my baby forever. It's perfect. Such a beautiful song. 💕
I’m a college senior, and recently I had a really challenging week between work and school. I went to see my momma for some much needed loving and after having dinner with her, I felt an impulse to put this on for the drive home. As I was listening, I just broke down in tears; both a happy and sad cry. Sad because of a really challenging week but with a silver lining that included a happy cry for getting to see my momma. Just thinking about this song had me tearing up a bit. It helped me to realize that no matter of how crappy my week had been going, I could stand up and keep going strong because I have a dedicated mother who taught me to never back down, even when it seems like I can’t.

2 years after my last post. I have a now 15 and 16 year old sons, and a 3 year old daughter (as of Sunday). And I miss my sons being young, when they needed me. They are nearly moving on in the next few years, but I do know they've already moved on at this point. I just hope my sons know they were loved. And as for my daughter, I hope she always thinks positive of me, and I hope she realizes how much how much love I have for her. I don't hear from them hardly now. My son joined the air force my youngest daughter moved to my ex's. and I am slowly losing my middle daughter. This house is so empty and so quiet. I am haunted by the photos of my children now grown. And their ghosts of yesterday I can still hear them sometimes with little things that remind me of them. when they needed me and loved me and thought i was their hero. I am not sure what i am to them anymore. I don't think i even rate a thought on my sons mind or youngest daughter now. I seem to have been forgotten and left behind. This pain is very real they were my everything. I used to love snuggling next to my children in bed and when my daughter used to suck her fingers in her sleep. They would never let me out of their site. Time is a thief. It stole my babies way too quickly. And my ex took them from me prematurely with his bribery and money and no rules and lots of takeaway and expensive trips. I can't compete with that. I am not well off he is though. All i ever did was love them and i never once left them. But I wonder if they have good memories of me as their mum and I wonder if they knew how much i loved them. because its all gone and i have no one to even remind me of them now or share the fading beautiful memories. I cant help but wonder if the ex hadn't have walked out would my now grown kids have loved and respected me more? :'( I remember when my son got his license. he is 25 now. but i waited and waited for his car to turn up my street and into my drive. It hardly ever did even though he lived just around the corner with my ex. I prayed every single day he would be safe in that car. then the motor bike. I can't bear to look at the baby toddler photos now. I can't bear the empty rooms and few treasured memories of them I held onto. Sometimes i might accidentally find something of theirs and i break down. i can never have that time back again. I know we have to move on but nothing and no one will ever replace my precious beautiful memories of my babies. I have never felt such emotional pain. I still have our family table the one thing my ex didn't take. Its empty now that big old table where once sat 3 precious beautiful pure innocent children, with their laughter and arguments and daily stories of school and friends and pizza parties with their best friends and movie nights. It's very hard to walk past that table. and the sweet memories of Christmas mornings when they were so excited for santa to arrive. The most magical Christmas eve's and days ever!!

It was rough sending my oldest child off three years ago, but sending the youngest off now is absolutely horrible. I offer my deepest apologies to my own mom (who has passed on) for scoffing and rolling my eyes when she cried when I left. I'm getting what I deserve, lol.
It gets better. But it feels awful. Like a break-up...and the other person has moved on! Give yourself a few months to "wear" this new relationship. It takes time.

My heart is shattered as I listen to this song. My 6 yr old son drowned in Lake Superior in June and I couldn't save him. Watching and listening to this song reminds me how very much I will never get to experience with him on this side of heaven, but I will see him again. Of that I am sure. 💛💛💛💛💛💛
