Mexican Dads Try Vietnamese Food!

- We asked our Mexican dads to try Vietnamese food for the first time! 🇻🇳😋
We asked the papahs to try popular Vietnamese dishes for the first time! They tried all sorts of cuisine like Pho, Bahn Mi dac biet, cafe sua da, Vietnamese iced coffee, Goi cuon, Vietnamese spring rolls, Mi xao mem thap cam, bahn xeo, che thai! Have you ever tried Vietnamese food? According to the Association for Asian Studies "Vietnamese cuisine is based on fresh ingredients, minimal cooking, lots of leafy greens and fish, very limited amounts of animal protein and fat, and moderate use of sugar". What foods should our Mexican dads try next?

Have you eaten Vietnamese food before? 😮
Yes! I love pho and banh mi! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
OF COURSE!!
No
Yes
Por supuesto! Soy vietnamesa vivo en alemania
As a person who’s mixed viet and hispanic, this made me very happy
@@LyknDelToro1Okay? And? He is talking about himself. He may not be Mexican but is Hispanic. How are you gonna try to correct how he describes himself? That’s crazy yo.
hahhahaha

@@LyknDelToro1 Your behavior is very weird.

So cool man what a combination
As a Mexican living in San Jose, CA I can confidently say Mexicans are Asian’s biggest fans when it comes to their food!!!! My dad would take us every weekend after church to get pho !!
Lol knew there would be another san josean here.

408 let’s go
And I ❤ Mexican food in San Jose. Two riches cultures clash in 1 city 🇻🇳🤝🇲🇽.

😂 Vietnamese coffee are notoriously strong. When he said this could raise the dead 💀 I’m done 😂 because it’s true. Strong coffee, sweet and cold ❤ perfecto
me as a Vietnamese seeing people saying our coffee is strong:
wait what? it's not that strong is it? if it's strong then how watered down is your usual coffee?
@@Codex_0613 vietnamese coffee is deadly strong, way too much aroma 4 me as an americano lover.
@@Codex_0613 as your neighbour (Malaysian here hi!), yes it is very strong. But we still love it!
@@Codex_0613I think the reason is because Vietnam mainly use Robusta beans which is stronger than the Arabica beans that most of the world use. Don't quote me on that though
I didn't understand that it was made with the milk and it's meant to be that way so I was super tired working at a restaurant and I asked the girl to make me one but with no sugar (I don't do well with sugar) and no milk (I just don't like milk in my coffee). She was like.. uhhh so... just coffee. And I was like "yeah, just coffee". She asked if I wanted water to like make it less strong. And I was like "nope, I love strong coffee and I'm super tired from my other job". Anyways She handed me this coffee that was like almost thick and served on ice and I was tired, thirsty and had to go back to work, so I took the lid off and just downed it. I made an audible "Wooo, damn that's not bad holy smokes that wakes you up" she was staring at me, the older guy was staring at me. I definitely kicked it into high gear and finished that job in record time to say the least.
The dad in the white always is so knowledgeable about so many culinary things & he’s so open minded! I would love to try his food one day he seems like such a chill dad with so many stories to tell 🖤
I lost my dad in 2022 and watching them somehow comforts me 🤍🕊️🎸
maybe he a chef
?
He is amazing dad, that's my dad and he loves to try new things, he is adventurous and he can throw it down in the kitchen. I love my daddy. I'm sorry for your loss.😢
I lost my dad in 2022 as well, he loved vietnamese food and always bought pho for his lunch. He only liked mexican food or vietnamese food
Peace be upon you, you’re a living memory of your precious dad everyday. He’ll never be lost as long as you remember and honor his memory. Much love to you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love hispanic people. As a viet, I thank y’all for always being the kindest people to me when everyone in this world makes me feel less than human.
I am happy to know that my people have treated you well! We have very strong family ties and this is reflected in our community. We will always treat you with respect and kindness.
This makes me sad. Please know that not everyone does that. Sending you a big hello and hug from Australia 🥰👋🇦🇺
What kind of vet are u?
Glad to hear we’re doing right by you. A lot of us are raised with a closed knit family, so it helps us stay balanced and not be the a**holes i know some of us can be.
Wow! This is the most respectful Vietnamese food trying video I have seen. I'm happy they liked the food!
I knew they would like everything cause Vietnamese food is amazing and they're men. Men will eat any food you bring them and enjoy all of it. They're not as picky as women are. Next time, give them some fried imperial rolls and watch them scarf down those delicious babies.
@@v.j.3029 idk I haven’t had that experience or seen it with men on TH-cam. They usually bash it. If you’re gonna give that next time you gotta serve it with the lettuce and fish sauce.
Hot take but Asian has the most and best flavor food of any race
@@Anx23don’t start. Especially with Mexicans in chat. We’ll fight you on it😂
I can confidently say a lot of Hispanics LOVE Vietnamese food. I literally grew up on it since my parents worked in a Vietnamese shop back in LA and when we moved to GA, they had to find a place to eat at and 24 years later we still go there 🤝🏾 thank you for the food my fellow Viets 🇻🇳
Good for them but the video is about Mexicans not Hispanics. It's in the title the channel is literally about MEXICAN DADS not Hispanics.ig no rant po s
I live in the Dino and anywhere u go, it's almost as if the Viet and Mexican ppl here are one in the same. The communities are tight here and both cultures really love showing off how good their food are. The one thing I love here that I can't find anywhere else, just the authenticity of Mexican and Vietnamese food here.
Just don’t use that flag around us Viet-Americans lol
@@ApoBeefI’m viet american and i see nothing wrong with the flag. It’s just a flag get over it
@@jasonvu9806as a fellow viet american, I agree with you but can also understand the other comment since that's the flag of north vietnam, while a lot of viet americans are southern vietnamese that escaped during or following the war
As a Chinese/Viet person I’m glad they enjoyed it. Lord knows I love me some Mexican food!
7:54 “Man is made of different cultures. So if you don’t become cultured, you don’t grow.” what a great quote
As a Viet raised by immigrants in Southern California, we have so much in common! So much greens and interesting flavor combinations - and we hate wasting parts of an animal that could be food hahah
I’m very glad that the tíos loved our food and that you guys chose some of the best food in our culture as well. Mexican food is banger too, no way you can survive in SoCal without some enchiladas 🤝
Papahs and the mamahs channels got me through a hard time recently thank you for the awesome content

@PapahChannel thank you much appreciated it's kinda like divine intervention cuz the channel was pretty new when I was in a bad head space but this pulled me through and I of course watch the crazy gorilla too that's a given lol
@@MrWwefantriplehhope you’re doing well my friend.
i love the way that mexican people literally try anything. not scared of new flavors like some other people
Banh mi is now more popular in Australia than meat pies now. And that says ALOT. Love these videos
I ended up crashing at a Vietnamese friend's house one night playing video games with friends. I woke up and his mom was making us Banh Mi's, first time I ever heard of it.
The flavors took me by total surprise. I swear to this day, I've never found another that would as good but I'm glad she showed me the Banh Mi magic :D
@@Artanis667come to VN my friend and you will taste it again
@@Artanis667Mmmm, you should try banh mi with liver pate, meat, and egg. Truly a game changer. Sprinkle a lil soy sauce on the egg and bread. Chef's kiss
if you're in melbourne try nhu lan bakery in footscray, best banh mi ive ever had
Lol ikr most bakeries are now vietnamese which is very nice since my mum can’t survive without viet food lmao
2:54 " You could raise the dead with this." I absolutely agree with this sentiment. I Would drink Vietnamese Coffee for a a long drive and I can be up all day till 4 am with that drink on my side. It's far superior than those energy drinks.
The strong caffeine will wake you up while the sugar give you energy to stay awake.
took one shot of vietnamese coffee, got chest pain for the next half an hour

I made the mistake of drinking three straight black Vietnamese coffees one after the other. This was NOT a good idea- my heart rate was up in the heavens.
For me, it's opposite. Well it will give me a good sleep instead. I'm Vietnamese btw
As a Vietnamese who love both Viet & Mexican foods, my pride & happiness boost up really high watching this 🫶🏻💜 I can tell Mexicans & Viet share similar foods taste & texture especially the Tacos - Banh Xeo and the rolls, carbs, protein & veggies go together.

Now that the Dads come in. Man, these dudes are awesome. Love their expressions.
Hope that Mexican and Vietnamese can get to know more about each other cuisine and culture.
I think Mexican and Vietnamese people have similar taste buds so seeing this makes me so happy. :D

I was craving all this delicious food throughout this video! I'm mexican and I have a group of very close friends from Vietnam and they always say that I was vietnamese in my past life, and I believe it! Vietnamese and mexican food are the best for me!

As a Vietnamese ty for trying food from our country we appreciate ppl trying food from our country
Uh, because y'all, like Central Americanos, got some of the best foods de todo el mundo.
Yea
@@LyknDelToro1 chill, I am not here for malice. I understand that central means middle and I get that Centro is used apart from all of Mexico - I simply meant all the countries between the north and south continents.
@@LyknDelToro1 it was Vietnamese food.
Let me thank your ethnicity for creating pho man that is the best food ever
Vicente found his new favorite food shrimp pancake with lettuce, lol his eyes opened so big 😃 he had a revelation of flavor with that bite😂
...and to think, his banh xeo wasn't even fresh! If it was fresh, the crepe would have been crunchy, which is what makes a good banh xeo.
He’s so cute!
As a Vietnamese/Chinese I'm glad they love it. Just as I love mexican food! I can't thank y'all enough for coming up with Tacos....I could eat those for days.....
Fresh banh xeo is next level, very crispy and makes it even better
Always love that these dads have a real cultured spirit to them. Always feel bad for the folks who stay in their little bubbles and can't fathom opening their minds (or tastebuds) to different cultures
Fr, like I see people online who have their own kids still taking out slices and pieces of vegetables, that are hardly noticeable in the grand scheme of things; and they still take the time to pick it out like a child, like cmon, I don’t even eat spicy food, but when it’s for the flavor, I just get myself a big jug of ice water and go at it😂
Viets and Hispanics from Houston have this beautiful synergy and mutual respect of cultures. It's really awesome to see some fusions of dishes that you can't really find elsewhere.
We need a Vietnamese Hispanic fusion restaurant in Houston! If there is one, I need to find it
@puratranreynolds3330 idk if it's still around, been like 8 years since, but I remember a truck that had huevos rancheros on Banh mi. Also a Mexican style barbacoa. Nearly died and went to food heaven.
The video is about Mexicans not Hispanics.
@@puratranreynolds3330 video is about Mexicans not Hispanics. Hispanics come from different countries they're not all Mexicans. That's like saying all Asians are Chinese. You all want respect but don't give any.
@@lykndeltoro I wasn’t talking about this video specifically.
I was just saying we need a fusion of Vietnamese & Hispanic foods whether it be Mexican, Columbia, Salvadoran, etc
Should probably ask rather than assume next time 🤷🏻♀️
great video but i want to give extra props and recognition to the host for his effort in trying to pronounce everything as best he can! thank you, and you did a great job!

2:53 "You could raise the dead with this" LOL
I am married to Vietnamese woman, she is the sweetest person I’ve ever met. We eat Vietnamese food, three times a week, oh, and by the way that fish sauce is not the genuine fish sauce. Traditional fish sauce is very strong.
It should be noted that real Viet coffee is made with Robusta beans and not Arabica, so it’s not easily available outside of Vietnam and the Viet restaurants tend to use a canned blend. What I’m getting at is even if Latinos thought of it first, it wouldn’t taste the same or be as strong. The vast majority of Robusta beans are grown in Vietnam
I think there is an export of the vietnamese brand, in a yellow/orange tin
@@TalonV9I think the orange tin you're thinking of is Cafe du Monde brand which is from the Louisiana cafe of the same name. It's not Vietnamese at all but it's become a staple in a lot of Vietnamese American households.
@@aznmochibunny yep, it's a blend of strong dark roasted coffee and chicory root. It somewhat approximates the Robusta beans and it's easier and cheaper to get
@@aznmochibunny Oh okay, the NGUYEN brand is what ive seen in some locations in CALI too
@@TalonV9 If you're referring to Nguyen Coffee Supply, then that's 100% Vietnamese coffee. Though the owner is Vietnamese American located in New York, they source their beans from the highlands of Vietnam and their beans are pure Robusta.

I’ve never had a bahn mi with cold cuts before 🤔 hmmm I might have to try that! I worked at a Vietnamese restaurant for a yeah and that was my introduction to their food *chefs kiss*
the traditional and og bánh mì is actually done with cold cuts as both the bread and the meat was inspired by french colonization. if you go to vietnam and order bánh mì, that usually automatically means the filling is meat and cold cuts. new variations have been created over the years and now we have a wide range of types of bánh mì :)
VNmese cold cuts, not American ones.
