Thanks for another informative video Niel. I just got a 2012 M7040 garage kept with 435 hrs. I honestly would not trade it for the M7060 or M4D-071. Aside from being pre-Tier4, I like the manual PTO engagement and I like all the other bits that aren't electronic. The more electronics the more opportunities there are for issues. I do like the hand brake on the newer models. The M7040 also has the two position pin on the loader for 10% greater lifting capacity. Tomorrow I install the rear window wiper kit for snow removal duties and this summer I'll add the Grammer air ride base as well. I'm sure it's a very nice tractor and will be perfect for a lot of people. I just prefer the more simplified design of the M7040.
My B2601 is mostly perfect for my 8 acres. But I would love that M4D for like 2 days a year, LOL. I guess once the snow starts, I am also going to wish I had a cab too. :D
Thank you for the detailed comparison. Can you please compare the M4D against a Case and/or a NH equivalent!? That would be nice if you could...Things like real world loader capacity, features, and more...
My m6060 has the constant RPM button, if you have hills and need a constant rpm on an implement it will hold it steady for u instead of going up and down, the reason u may not leave it on is it uses more fuel to hold the rpms steady, it increases fuel use under load to maintain rpm. So u can turn it off and potentially save a bit of fuel, if that matter to anyone, lol
Neil, Just bought an M4D-071. Will be delivered in about a week. I noticed on the right rear door jam, there’s an ear with two holes. I assume it’s for mounting hay and gps display. However, I can’t find anything that tells me how to use it. Please make a short video that addresses this hard point. Also, would love in the same video a tutorial on mounting displays and options in the cab. Your the best on TH-cam for explaining Kubota equipment. Thanks.
Hi Neil. Great video, as always. I recently purchased a M7060 and your videos factored massively into my buying decision (I'm on the West Coast otherwise would have purchased from your shop). In a previous video you asked for suggestions for new videos, so I have one. It is undoubtedly a departure from your current format but please give a moment to consider it... You've mentioned many of your customers are first-time tractor buyers. I am as well, and in general I'm new to farming. Loving it, but still a newbie. I wonder if you would consider a series where you interview extremely seasoned, professional farmers about things they wished they'd known when they started. For example, you have a video on how to operate the draft controls, but I'd love to hear a _lesson_ on the subject from a professional farmer with a lot of years behind the wheel. Someone who could give both an overview and detail many nuances and gotchas. Perhaps a series on how to use various implements together to do common jobs (tillage, clearing, etc.). There are a million more ideas in this vein, all revolving around the idea that you could promote tractor education using your channel as a platform. My grandfather was a D9 Cat operator for years and I was too young to learn it from him before he passed. I sure wish he'd been able to pass some of his knowledge down, and this is the inspiration for this comment. Thank you again for your videos and your consideration.
I would really like to do more with other people. The problem has been most people are very camera shy and not interested in talking. As we're a dealership, I'm also careful of not giving someone the impression that we're exploiting them. .... now if someone volunteered :-)
I bought a m4d-071 in october 2019 in liveoak fla. The air struggles if it is over 85 outside, it has the 320/70/24 tires on the front with a loader and sitting still the front wheels only turn 1/4 of the way and stop until you move, dealer and kubota say it is operating within specs and tint your windows. Great engineering kubota!!!!!!!
I looked at both of them very closely but still went with the HDC12 with radials, cast wheels and 3 remotes. Just did not like the controls in the new M4, especially the big console thing hanging off the steering wheel. The M7060 may be an old model, but its a really good design with the bugs ironed out. I would never buy a first year edition of any machine, dont want to be a guinea-pig for the Kubota R&D guys.
Neil, thank you for all of your super insightful videos! Has been so helpful to me as a first-time tractor purchaser. Definitely feel a lot more confident in making a purchase. I live in Europe now, and am looking at a Kubota M4072, which looks like a very similar spec to the M4D-071 you feature in this video. I'd like a backhoe with this tractor, but Kubota doesn't seem to offer them on these machines here. The dealer is recommending a hoe which attaches via 3-point hitch. I've watched your other video warning of potential frame bending/cracking with this type of mounting, depending on the tractor it is being attached to. The M4072 has a cat 2 rear hitch and is a utility tractor with 74 hp. Do you foresee any problems with this set up? The backhoe is from Argnani e Monti in Italy. I can't find much information on this company, so that is another question mark. Appreciate any advice from you or the community on this. Thank you so much!
I really like the new m4d-071 over the m7060, i guess we will be looking to upgrade to one in the next year or two when our l5460 gets some more hours on her. Pricing for the tractor on kubota's website was not too bad also. Only question i have is what is kubota calling the "mid mount lighting kit" for this tractor?
Neil, I've got a question about the Economy PTO. Take the M4D-071 for example, it has 60 PTO HP. My question is, if I were to run the Economy PTO, would it be able to safely run equipment that was rated for approximately 50 PTO HP?
So confusing with the model numbers. For years here in Aus any grey market models were easily identified by ending in a 1 or 2, then we start getting B2601 etc now M4D-071!
Hay Neil do you take the sprayers or the combines for test drives? Also the Kabota tractor that you were showing the deluxe version the cab is bigger than my closet!
Yes, we do demo's on sprayers and combines. I don't do those myself, we have other people who specialize in that equipment and know it far better than I do.
Good question. Its likly the same as the old model. Kubota has been changing to a more conservative testing standard and we are seeing this kinda thing a lot. Likely related to the briggs and Kohler lawsuit from a few years ago. Curious if the rest of the industry follows.
@@MessicksEquip Thanks for the response. But I'd have preferred something along the lines of "I prefer this and this about the Kubota, but this and this about the NH." Lol

depends on how it's equipped, cab and loader, probably around 50. no cab or loader, it depends, but not 50, if I had to guess on a machine that size, open station and no loader, I'd be thinking around 30 grand.

Can you still get a backhoe for the M4D? I had one priced out on the M7060
Yes
i almost get the hunch Neil prefer kubota over the rest.!
Can you tell me more about that declutch system on the shifter
How much more for a tractor shipped to Minnesota
Why no description of a backhoe for this machine in the brochure? Is there a compatible backhoe?
Yes, but you should also look at M62
My neighbor got a new m7060 and it won’t lift the front tires off the ground with the fel or loader bucket.
Is there a setting we’re missing.
Have the hydraulic pressure checked
Two things
Why no self leveling loader?
Does the m4d have LED lights? At one point you said halogen and at another you say LED.
self-leveling is an option on most Kubota's. Few people opt for it. Yes.. its LED lights, I misspoke the first time though.
Thanks for the clarification Neil
U can lift and dump at the same time u don't need self leveling not like a deere!
How about a video on getting the oil back in an M4 with loader.... I had to build a jig and use some wire ties to make it work... :)
Just changed mine used long flexible metal funnel worked decent.
Drop the loader before oil change?

Neil on the kubkta website it states that the m7060 is 73hp and the m4d71 is 71hp it was my impression it was the same engine?:can you clarify?
Changes in the driveline of the tractor. 12 speed, 540e, more hydraulic flow.
Neil, do you know what the actual tested pto hp is on the m4d-071, 13 hp seems like a big difference on that size tractor. Thanks

Every tractor over 26Hp has either a DPF or DOC to treat soot. This has been the case for 20 years now.
