You are absolutely right. This method also has a favorable effect on weed control, so in combination with sugar, I think that weeds have no chance against grass. Best regards 🌱
After removing the dandelions from the grass, the dandelions should be put into a bucket. Dandelions can drop seeds onto the grass on the ground after being dug up,
Dandelions grow where the soil is compacted. They aereate the soil and add nitrogen. So does clover. As well, both flower and feed bees. Maybe don’t worry about them so much.
I agree, dandelion, clover and crabgrass grow best on compacted and improperly treated soil because they are not demanding plants like grass.. I also have bees and a whole field of dandelion and acacias. Excellent homemade honey. I have lavender for bumblebees, they love it. These are just small pieces of lawn that people want to have for themselves. Otherwise, it is impossible to eradicate it in nature, it spreads very quickly. The worst thing for bees is spraying fruits and vegetables with pesticides, which mostly kill entire bee swarms. And without them, the world would stop through several years. Thanks for watching 🐝🌱
If you immediately water the sugar after sprinkling it on the grass, you will not have "too many" ants than usual. Otherwise, they are unavoidable in the eco system, but also useful. This will last as long as you use sugar with organic fertilizer. Sugar is an excellent fertilizer for your grass if you use it with organic fertilizers in combination. Weeds will not disappear overnight, but sugar will eliminate them over time in a natural way. Switching from chemical to organic fertilizer is a process, but over time you will notice that there are no weeds and that the grass is much healthier. In addition to that, of course, airing, seeding, removal of dead grass, etc. is necessary. You will see the result in one of the following videos, best regards 🌱
You should keep a small section of those weeds (Dandelion's) aside. Health wise they are great for Teas and the White Sap from the Stem is a Natural Antibiotic.
@organickulture thanks for those great informative videos! instead of sprinkling the sugar and the watering it. Would it be possible to mixe it with water and spray it over the lawn and have the same effect? If so, would you suggest any dilution as gram or kilograms of sugar per liter of water? Thanks 🙏🏻
@rogeriowcarvalho Honestly, I'm not sure about the effect that way, but it should have the same effect. The only thing I'm thinking about is that the sugar would reach the plant and not just the root. It certainly doesn't bother the plant, but it would be more tempting for ants. In that case, I would do it before the rain so the sugar does not stay on the plant. I put approximately 100 grams of sugar per square meter. For 200 square meters of lawn, I put 20 kg of sugar. If I were to use that method, I would put 1 kg of sugar in 10 liters of water. That is the mixture for ten square meters. Try applying it on a small area first, it only takes 5 days to see all the effects. In case of accumulation of ants, water the treated surface well. Thank you very much for your engagement and best regards 🙏🏻🌱
I have a simple tool and much cheeper to do that. Take an metal Barbeque Spies where you put your shaslik on. Put in the ground next to the root of the plant ( ofcourse without meat) wigle it a bith so the root get space and now pull the plant out. Works effortless!

Nature needs to be cultivated, pun intended, Seeds feed birds the pollen in the grass etc is taken by bees and butterflies etc
An excellent tool that eliminated 90% of deep weeds, quick and easy. The first year I applied sugar every three months, even in the summer. Now I add necessarily in early spring and late autumn.🌱
That's right, that's why it should be taken out while it's yellow. The first time I took out all the yellow, the next seven days a few more appeared and after that it was gone.
Eat their dandelions and house too would be nice 😂 I had a feeling you may not have posted the video yet. Will look forward to it. Years ago I had a Canada goose that would eat all the weeds. Can’t go anymore organic than that. He would join me in the garden while he would pull some weeds right next to me. And he would do these grunting sounds. And I would grunt back😄 Thank you
That's right, your lawn will be a beautiful green color. Sugar is one of the natural fertilizers for the lawn that encourages the grass to take nitrogen from the soil, in this way weeds are eliminated over time. It feeds beneficial bacteria, insects and other bugs, it is easy to apply, it is cheap, neither children nor animals will have allergic reactions, which is often the case when special chemicals or other types of fertilizers are applied. Sugar will also strengthen the grass and at the same time "discourage" the growth of weeds. The advice is to sprinkle sugar on the lawn several times in the first year of use, because it will take a long time to clean the artificial fertilizers from the soil and to restore the good bacteria. You don't have to take care to spread it evenly everywhere. You don't have to worry about excess sugar burning your grass. When the soil and lawn recover, it is enough to do it twice, in the fall and in the spring. Best regards 🌱
I have a large easement with full of weeds (no lawn). I tried ground clear twice a year for two years and nothing happened. Every year it comes up in spring /summer. Does sugar help to eliminate it completely?
Sugar helps, but only in lawns in combination with organic fertilizer, because sugar encourages the grass to take all the nitrogen from the soil and in this way the weeds disappear. Best regards🌱
I was told by an old timer that digging dandelions just multiplies weeds by turning up the soil and giving the dozens of dormant seeds laying on the surface a nice bed to germinate.
If you just mow your yard regularly to keep the flowers from going to seed, you will control the dandelions and clover anyway. My centipede and St. Augustine take over nicely. You may get some weeds in early spring, but if you mow at the right height and frequency, you don't need to go to all that manual effort to control most weeds. By May....gone.
How does sugar work on creeping Charlie? Is it the flower or the leaves/plant of the dandelion that are beneficial? Should you remove the flowers before cutting the lawn?
Creeping Charlie needs a lot of nitrogen like other species in the grass. Sugar will deprive it of nitrogen in such a way that it will force the grass to look for and take all the nitrogen in the ground, and over time it will also disappear. Creeping Charlie is also healthy to use, but older and raw leaves are not completely non-toxic! Due to the active substances, some people should not use those herbs. Before using them for medicinal purposes, be sure to consult a doctor! Dandelion leaves contain: vitamins A, C, K, B and E, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium. First, remove all the species from the lawn that you don't want, then mow, sprinkle with sugar and water well. Kind regards.
Hello, how does sugar affect weeds. What's the ingredient in it ?😮 I have an orchard, I am thinking of applying it against weeds but I would not like it to have any bad effect for the trees. ( The trees are freshly planted) Won't the sugar increase the movement of ants and thus the incidence of aphids for example ? How much dosage per m2 do you recommend ?

The condition for sugar to be most effective is if you use organic grass fertilizers. I’ve tried everything else as well manually pulling up with the Fiskars tool, as satisfying as it may have been, this year I’ve got hundreds of dandelions in my side, front and backyard. I’ll have to try your method and see whether it will work. Mind you, I can’t see spending over a week trying to pull them manually as there are way too many. Do you recommend first mowing, then using sugar followed by hopefully rain if not then I’ll have to wet it with a hose. Then follow up with another treatment.
I assume that you don't manage to take out the dandelion while the flower is yellow, that is very important. When it forms a crown (which happens the next day when you see a yellow flower) then it is too late because then it reproduces. Sugar will certainly suppress it, if not completely eradicate it. The first year, sprinkle the lawn with sugar every month until late autumn, the next year less often, and the third year only in spring and autumn. First mow, then sprinkle sugar and be sure to water after sprinkling. Kind regards.
@@organickulture unfortunately not. I look forward to implementing your recommendation for the monthly sugar sprinkle. Would you know whether I can use the spreader with granulated sugar? Mowing the front and side takes approximately 3+ hours depending how much edging I have to trim. The backyard lawn another 45 minutes + 20 minutes edging with a trimmer.
@@FarideLadak The method of sprinkling is not important. You will even be able to sprinkle the sugar more evenly. Also, beneficial microorganisms that will feed on sugar will contribute to a better soil structure and make the grass less sensitive to heat, drought or cold.
It’s very hard to control when your neighbor doesn’t do anything about them. I looked for the video you were going to show what you use to fill the holes and fertilize. Could find it.
In that case, sprinkle sugar at your neighbor's place when he is not home and when it is sunny, without watering. Ants will eat his lawn and his house 😄 Just kidding, I understand. You take out when the dandelions are yellow at your place and let's hope that the wind does not blow the neighbor's to your side. Sugar treatment will discourage dandelions over time if you apply sugar and other treatments correctly, regardless of the flying seeds. The weather is preventing me from filming the fertilizing, I hope that video will be released next week. Best regards.
That dandelion is the most healthiest you can eat the flowers the leaves the root's full of vitamins and mineral, its medicinal ,,,you can make tinctures, same as like the nettle look it up 😊😊
It is known that weeds 'prefer' poor soil because they can spread more easily in it, so sugar will therefore beneficially affect the eradication of clover and weeds. Experts have proven that plain white sugar has a very favorable effect on grass and acts as a fertilizer. Water thoroughly after sprinkling to avoid attracting too many ants🌱
It is necessary to apply sugar to the lawn several times. More sugar in places where there is a lot of clover. If your lawn is poor in regular fertilizer, clover will win again. Check your soil fertility and pH level. Is your lawn properly scarified? By fulfilling these conditions, sugar destroys the clover 100%.🌱
@@organickulture I will certainly take your advice and I definitely don’t want to use harmful chemicals that is detrimental to the environment. I will do as many applications until I get the desired result. I will keep you posted. Thanks for your o and advice.
I encourage clover on my lawn. Looks nice, bees love it and it binds nitrogen as natural and completely free fertiliser for the lawn. There’s is nothing wrong with dandelion either. If you want to get rid, eat it. Delicious and healthy
@@organickulture Sir, I have so much grab grass, there is no way for me to pull it all out., should I still follow the same procedure with the granulated sugar?
Sugar should be sprinkled all over the lawn, and the best result will be if you use organic fertilizers for grass. Chemical fertilizers contain salt and for the first two years everything looks great. After a maximum of two years, weeds appear primarily due to salt, which is one of the components of chemical fertilizers. White sugar will not attract insects if you water the lawn well after sprinkling. There won't be more or less than usual. Test on a small area until you are convinced. Best regards 🌱
I agree with you that clover is beautiful and dandelion is useful for other purposes. The video was made for informational purposes for people who sowed grass and not clover, dandelion, thistle, etc. Thanks for watching, best regards.
@@organickulture I did not mean to be critical of your video-it's just that weed seeds are carried in the air currents and are always being deposited and the process never stops thereby keeping all of the weed killer companies in business and our health at risk. Did you know that when you put down any chemical on your lawn that birds nor bees will be able to feed off of it. What is sad is that a "perfect" lawn in America means killing off all of the most important pollinators we need for survival. We have to ask ourselves what are we sacrificing?
@@alphacentauri2506 I completely agree with you. With a little effort, I have a beautiful lawn organically, I hope that many will follow my example and understand exactly what you are saying. thanks for the video, i have subscribed to your channel. I have never heard of this treatment before but will try in a section of my yard to see the results. Do you have have a organic trick to get rid of thistle in the lawn? I have a few spots that keep being a problem, and i have tried everything...
Sugar is exactly the one that will kill all kinds of weeds, including thistle, which is even as healthy as dandelion, but I understand that it is not very popular in the lawn. All types of weeds and other species that appear in the lawn are due to the use of chemical treatments, exhausted and depleted soil, and these are ideal conditions for weeds. Keep in mind that it is not enough to sprinkle sugar only once, but a couple of times a year before it rains or before watering. Sprinkle several times the first year, and then reduce the second year. For the third year, it is enough to sprinkle sugar in spring and autumn. Sprinkle more sugar on thistle, its root is up to one meter deep and it is impossible to eradicate it in any other way (if you don't want to bring an excavator to the yard to remove it :D). Grass leaves require large amounts of nitrogen for best growth. Feeding your lawn with commercial (chemical) fertilizer provides nitrogen, but also adds excessive salt to the soil, which causes poor root growth over time. Sugar encourages grass roots to look for nitrogen in the soil and depletes nitrogen from the soil, in this way all weeds will be left without nitrogen and over time you will have a lawn free of weeds and other species. Thank you for your subscription, I will soon publish a video for the final natural treatment of the grass, which is the most necessary for strong and healthy grass. Kind regards.
Black medic is a legume, enabling it to fix its own nitrogen. This capability allows it to outcompete turf in nutrient-deficient soils. It has a very deep root, so I believe it would take quite some time to eradicate it with just sugar🌱
It works, but check the pH of the soil because chickweed likes acidic soil. Add powdered lime before applying the sugar to adjust the pH first. th-cam.com/video/MxWjVQJiqZw/w-d-xo.html

The video about filling the holes will most likely come out on Tuesday next week, and the video about the ant colonies will come out in 2-3 hours. Best regards.
Sorry, i do not understand the mechanism how adding sugar helps the grass in the competition with already present clover? 1) clover binds nitrogen from air 2) sugar depletes nitrogen in soil by affecting microbial life to metabolise the nitrogen 3) lawn grass need nitrogen to produce the green leafs and looks for nitrogen desperately in soil.
It is true that clover binds nitrogen from the air, but it is not sufficient or decisive. The main nitrogen is bound in the soil, and it is the sugar that forces the grass to take all nitrogen. In this way, the grass gets an advantage in strength and growth. If it is not mowed too low, the grass takes over and suffocates the other species on the lawn. Best regards 🌱
Something to think about. Clover does not require special care except for mowing, it is resistant to all weather conditions and is excellent fodder for bees 🐝 Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 👋🌱

Dandelions are gorgeus. They are very soft, have no thorns, dosn't sting like nettle, so why in the world you would want to destroy this natural beauty in your backyard? Buy a green carpet for your living room instead of trying to make a carpet out of your lawn...
The video was made for those who don't want it, to get rid of it. Otherwise, I agree that it is beautiful and useful in the lawn...it even has medicinal properties. Thanks for watching, kind regards 🌱
Clover is increasingly popular in lawns and does not require special care, I agree with you and it doesn't bother me either. If someone doesn't want it, there is sugar to remove it.
Sugar will strengthen the grass and at the same time "discourage" the growth of all weeds. Sprinkle sugar on the lawn several times in the first year of use, because it will take a long time for the artificial fertilizers to be cleaned from the soil and for the good bacteria to return. When the soil and the lawn have recovered, it is enough to do it twice, in autumn and in spring. After sprinkling the sugar, water the lawn thoroughly.

Urtica dioica is a magical fertilizer, but not for lawns. It is a chicken manure pellets. Best regards 🌱
That dandelion is the most healthiest you can eat the flowers the leaves the root's full of vitamins and mineral, its medicinal ,,,you can make tinctures, same as like the nettle look it up 😊😊
Is this why molasses works?
What does sugar do to weeds and clover?
It is known that weeds 'prefer' poor soil because they can spread more easily in it, so sugar will therefore beneficially affect the eradication of clover and weeds. Experts have proven that plain white sugar has a very favorable effect on grass and acts as a fertilizer. Water thoroughly after sprinkling to avoid attracting too many ants🌱
Do you need to water the lawn after applying sugar?
Yes.. Immediately 🌱
But clover is drought resistant and grass is not…maybe I’m biased, I like clover
There are drought tolerant varieties
My lawn is not organically fertilized. Should I give it some time before sprinkling it with sugar?
Yes, you can sprinkle sugar even if you are currently using chemical fertilizers.
Thank you for your visit and engagement🌱
The sugar was not effective in killing the clovers. They only grew greener and more lush. Disappointed 😮😮😮
Re-sugar to get rid of clover is scientifically proven so there’s no reason to be doubtful about its usage. It works like a selective herbicide.
I encourage clover on my lawn. Looks nice, bees love it and it binds nitrogen as natural and completely free fertiliser for the lawn. There’s is nothing wrong with dandelion either. If you want to get rid, eat it. Delicious and healthy
Your title mentions crabgrass but not referenced in the video. Does the sugar work to get rid of crabgrass as well?
Of course... Everything that isn't the grass you sowed 🌱
@@organickulture Sir, I have so much grab grass, there is no way for me to pull it all out., should I still follow the same procedure with the granulated sugar?
Can I sprinkle white sugar on the crabgrass and clover so to kill them? Will white sugar kill weeds but attract insects?
Sugar should be sprinkled all over the lawn, and the best result will be if you use organic fertilizers for grass. Chemical fertilizers contain salt and for the first two years everything looks great. After a maximum of two years, weeds appear primarily due to salt, which is one of the components of chemical fertilizers. White sugar will not attract insects if you water the lawn well after sprinkling. There won't be more or less than usual. Test on a small area until you are convinced. Best regards 🌱
Can i use sugar in hot summer days?
Of course, just water well after application👌🌱
@@organickulture thanks. What about chicken manure in hot days?
No problem, but wait for at least a slightly cloudy day and water well after application 👌🌱
Bonjour.
@@organickulture merci beaucoup. Bonne journée
why would you want to get rid of clover? Clover is beautiful and lush and enriches the lawn. and dandelions are a wonderful natural healing plant
A "beautiful lawn" does not have to and should not destroy the entire ecosystem. Nature is given to us to take care of, and we act like conquerors on this planet. Thank you for watching and best regards. 🌱
Will you ever show your face on camera? Tanya from the Lovely Greens channel always appears on her videos. Hers and yours are my two favourite gardening channels.
I'm trying to focus on the plants...Maybe one day 😂 Thank you for your support and best regards 🌱
@organickulture hopefully one day 😍 You look like someone who also, besides the garden and plants, looks after yourself well.
ps: there is no 'Subscribe' option on your TH-cam video. You have to go to your channel to subscribe. Is this new???
Yeah, that seems to be a new thing on YT. Thank you 🌱
The subscribe tab is on the right bottom of the screen in black and white letters. Click on the garden green title and it will pop up.
thanks for the video, i have subscribed to your channel.

El diente de león es alimento para pájaros (verdecillos y jilgueros)
Will this get rid of black medic, which is in the clover family?
Black medic is a legume, enabling it to fix its own nitrogen. This capability allows it to outcompete turf in nutrient-deficient soils. It has a very deep root, so I believe it would take quite some time to eradicate it with just sugar🌱
Hi does sugar work on chickweed
It works, but check the pH of the soil because chickweed likes acidic soil. Add powdered lime before applying the sugar to adjust the pH first. th-cam.com/video/MxWjVQJiqZw/w-d-xo.html

Chemical is bad for natural. Kills water, bees, insects which are crucial for eco systems. And those eco systems is crucial for our survival. Thanks.

Question. Will the sugar attract ants?
No more than usual, if you water immediately after sprinkling. Test a smaller area to make sure 🌱
I have ants in my lawn, they will love the sugar LOL.
So don't water after sprinkling 😂😂😂 We all have them, it's just that some notice and some don't. Best regards 🌱
L'extracteur est terriblement efficace , il suffit de consacrer 2 jours et de surveiller la fleuraison des Pissenlis !!
Do ants like the sugar too?
Of course...if you water immediately after sprinkling, there won't be more than usual. Try it on a smaller area first 🌱
What kind of sugar? Crystal or other?
Crystal sugar 🌱
Procurei no google e não fala muito sobre porque jogar açucar na grama, alguem sabe explicar oque acontece?

I’m trying to keep cats off my lawn from shitting and pissing on my lawn. It kills my lawn. And it’s frustrating and annoying
In that case, just water your lawn regularly and cats will avoid your lawn 🌱
@@organickulture I water every night and was told I have the greenest lawn on the block. But really, keeping it watered keeps them off?
100% Try it 🙂
So 1) you never showed how you fill all those holes you made by pulling the weeds 2) do you have a video on removal of massive ant colonies?
The video about filling the holes will most likely come out on Tuesday next week, and the video about the ant colonies will come out in 2-3 hours. Best regards.
Look like dandelions. Supposed to be good for the bees. A guy on another video was using an Apple corer to remove weeds

Es interesante su vídeo estoy encantada..muchas gracias.. por enseñarme.
Gracias por ver y un saludo 🌱
Sorry, i do not understand the mechanism how adding sugar helps the grass in the competition with already present clover?
1) clover binds nitrogen from air
2) sugar depletes nitrogen in soil by affecting microbial life to metabolise the nitrogen
3) lawn grass need nitrogen to produce the green leafs and looks for nitrogen desperately in soil.
Why anyone would want to kill clover on the lawn? 😂 it's a nitrogen fixer, it feeds the soil 🤦🏼♀️
Something to think about. Clover does not require special care except for mowing, it is resistant to all weather conditions and is excellent fodder for bees 🐝 Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 👋🌱
Wont sugar attract ants?
It won't if you immediately water the lawn well. Test on a smaller area 🌱
Hol lehet ilyen jo kis gépet venni?

Never kill clover in your lawn as it is a natural healthy fertiliser. 😢
Grass freaks are OCD. Just cut off the dandelion flowers before they turn to seed. Rabbits nibble on the clover. Inky would probably like to make a few new friends.
Great idea 😃 Thanks for watching 🌱
Don’t you lure ants with the sugar???
Roundup works
there has got to b e another way, I don't want ants, and I feed the birds with crickets, so I will have to figure out another way to get rid of clover.
Thanks for sharing with us. Kind regards 🌱
If it's just sugar I think soda would work too
Soda does not work as a natural fertilizer and does not suppress weeds. It acts as a pesticide to protect plants from fungal diseases and blight. Thanks for watching
@@organickulture Fair pont! My love for dandelions and natural lawns as such took a hold of me.

Why get rid of clover the honey bees love it
They can go to the next guys lawn for clover.
Mas isso pode atrair formigas?

Clovers are good for your yard so why get rid of them?
Clover is increasingly popular in lawns and does not require special care, I agree with you and it doesn't bother me either. If someone doesn't want it, there is sugar to remove it.
Quand vous avez fin votre terrain est ravagé....et de tout façon avec votre outil vous casse la racine et le pissenlit repoussera aux même endroit....
If sugaring works, then why are there so many dandelion in the yard?
In the video, I sprinkle sugar for the first time. It won't be there next year. Kind regards 🌱
Dandelions have excellent health benefit And I wouldn’t get rid off superfood
Nonsense
It kills crab grass?
Sugar will strengthen the grass and at the same time "discourage" the growth of all weeds. Sprinkle sugar on the lawn several times in the first year of use, because it will take a long time for the artificial fertilizers to be cleaned from the soil and for the good bacteria to return. When the soil and the lawn have recovered, it is enough to do it twice, in autumn and in spring. After sprinkling the sugar, water the lawn thoroughly.

Sugar? Isn't that going to attract ants and bugs?
Not if you water well immediately after sprinkling. Try it on a smaller area🌱
