It makes sense Elephants would love piano music since Elephants are known to communicate through seismic waves, either by means of vibrations on earth surface or acoustical waves 😊😊😊
I watch your work from Pakistan where piano is not a common instrument. I got one at age fifty and taught myself to play the same pieces you are playing in this video. That was twelve years ago.... I have played for my rescued animals, with some of them in my lap as they went through their last moments. Somehow, I felt I was honoring these lives, and playing them into a place of peace and beauty. Coming across your video with you playing the same beautiful compositions makes me feel more connected to those who love these sentient beings and makes me feel less alone
To Ali Gauhar: Your comment here is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. I copied it and have it ready to read, whenever everything else in the world is going to shit.
And I feel connected to you. I admire your tenacity to learn to play a piano in adulthood. I am wondering if you can cite any evidence that elephants have "consciousness," defined as having awareness to make decisions. Thank you.
I feel immensely proud of you for your passion to learn to play and to honor the hearts and souls of the animals through your music. Your story touched me 🫶🏻🇨🇦
I love when men show kindness and warmth to animals. There's little doubt in my mind that Paul's piano music moved the elephants. This is such a beautiful story -- it surely moved me.
Paul's playing moonlight Sonata for the old logging elephant brought tears to my eyes the first time I watched it, he is a very special man to give such joy to these beautiful animals many who've been sorely abused and worked to near death.
Agree I had just happened upon this video, watched in utter amazement then read the bio on Mogkol and lost it, I completely went into the ugly cry. What a blessing Mr. Barton is to them and us. Wow just wow
I Must say that we all know how miserable human being can be but sometime a story like this makes you more optimistic about our future. Thank you sir for your dedication to bring some confort to these wonderful animals
I'm a grown ass man balling my eyes out. Combining two of my loves in one... Piano and Elephants! Such an awesome video and wonderful man! Humans have not been kind to Elephants and its so tragic. Thankfully its folks like Paul that give us an undeserved redemption shot with these wonderful, intelligent, and highly empathetic creatures!
I’m 25 and I had tears streaming down my face. There is a separate video of Paul playing the Moonlight Sonata to a solitary elephant and I’ve never watched anything so beautiful. My father never tried to convince me that “men don’t cry”, in fact my parents raised me to not be ashamed to express any emotion - except anger!
@@thorvaldrhysbjrnson8720 Yes, we all have hearts that beat deeply within us, yet we all pretend we don't. Express your weakness for beauty, and the entire world of humanity opens up to you. Paul is exceptional, but if we all, ordinary people, just gave one act of kindness everyday to man or beast, the world would be somewhere we would be proud to live.
Their movements, swaying, moving their trunk as they listen, it’s almost like the way we dance and sway to music. I wonder what they’re feeling and experiencing as they listen? Do they feel moved, do they find the music and instrument…beautiful…moving? I’m glad they get to have this experience. Beautiful animals.
Clair du Lune is a perfect choice. My favorite classical piece. My first cat would lay on the piano bench when I played. You are onto something so connecting between animals and music. This is a beautiful thing you are doing. My best to you and these wonderful creatures.
I’ve always felt different in the emotional response I feel towards animals and music. Moreover I’m not a very emotional person but I will surprise myself by tearing up over a piece of music . Barton gives me faith in humanity, not easily done. In the most heartfelt , sincere and fundamental way I can express, thank you.
Paul is a wonderful, intuitive empath. We need more caring humans in this world! Both for ourselves and the precious animals of our world. Thank you Paul for showing musical love to these deserving elephants! 👏🎶🎹❤️🐘

Humans sadly only ever see some of our fellow creatures to be exploited and not worthy of care & protection. Paul’s emotional reaction when talking about his experiences playing for the elephants made it so clear he only saw them as what they truly are - complex, sentient creatures that are capable of many of the emotions that too many humans think only they are capable of. I would consider it an honour to shake Paul’s hand and thank him for spending time with such wonderful creatures.
This music always brings me to tears and doubled with the relationship of man and elephant. The intelligence of our animals are always underestimated. I appreciate that you care so much for these wonderful animals. Thank you for sharing your art with us as well.
So there are several things that makes this individual quite amazing. He brings pleasure to the elephant. He gives pleasure to us the listener on the Internet, but also it proves the immense value of music to be enjoyed between different species of life. If there’s peace on earth, it may be through the joy of music.
Absolutely glorious - the open-mouthed posture of that male who was so aggressive and supposedly unmanageable speaks volumes about the power of music. 🎶🙌❤️
What a wonderful man full of love a compassionate man full of kindness and empathy may you continue you to show the world these affectionate highly intelligent sensitive majestic elephants who will always remember kindness decades later and they would even protect him if they sensed danger thank goodness for people like this who show RESPECT
I’ve already commented on another video in which you play for a elephant but I’d also like to add a comment to this beautiful video. I am not religious but I’m moved to say bless you for representing the humans on this planet that feel strongly regarding the way such beautiful & sentient fellow creatures have (and continue) to be treated so cruelly. Thankfully attitudes towards elephants have taken a massive turn for the better and now more humans see elephants as fellow creatures to be loved & protected. what a truly indescribably beautiful, wonderful gift he continues to share with these elephants, these angels. when treated with humility that’s exactly what they exhibit, which doesn’t suprise me. i suppose this is some semblance of justice, giving to them the humanity that was taken from them. although it’s only part of a greater reckoning; activism aganist animal cruelty and education is the other half, i think. may he continue to play for them, for as long as he can. they deserve every bit of peace, love, and compassion that music can provide
