Hello Dave and Camera Lady. I was so pleased to see you had done another video after having to address the TikTok fiasco. We can’t let the terrible people get us down. Your followers know you are both the best and we all care about you and all your beasties. I must say, I love the Cobalts. I think they are one of my favorites. I have heard and seen them be aggressive. It is so amazing to me watching you with these spiders and how calm they are for you. You truly are the spider whisperer!🤣. I can’t wait to see her pretty colors after she moults. Okay, no being grouchy. We are behind y’all 100%. Love you guys and see you later this week. Stay safe and take care.❤️💖
Such a nice gift and this girl behaved just like true Lady! I hope she will thrive in that enclosure and you with it too! Thank you Dave and Sweet Camera Lady for an informative video and I wish you both good health as well as good luck with all your small creatures! 👋😊👍❤🥰🤗 Susanne and Trollet.
Hope that the tictok copycat has been losing all the people watching it, you are the original and bestest beastie curator. A great video again, you both are awesome.
You explain things so well. As I have said before I don’t keep spiders and I watch your channel to help me deal with my fear of them. But you are a genuine font of knowledge from your years of keeping and caring for your beastie’s. You never preach, you always say this is what we have found works for us. Looking forward to the update on this girl. Keep up the great work and please remember not only be calm be gentle and love your mrs as well as your spiders lol.
What a lovely girl! It is almost as if she knew you were talking about her! I have an expo here next weekend, and I just added this beauty to my list of MUST HAVES!! Let us see her after she molts pretty please?!? BC. BG. ALYS.
I'm hoping you aren't sick of me commenting all the time, but I'm absolutely fascinated, and learn so much from you and as such, lead's me to this question... "Did you ever think that you would be such a great help to folks like myself who had suffered the most unreasonable fear of spiders, I had recently handled voluntarily, my first spider without a mess!! 😃, ... I've come so far mate, thanks are entirely to your "Dave's little Beasties project"... So sincerely, thanks mate 👍😃👍
Hi Dave! One day some jerk is thieving from you on tictok... and the next a great guy donates his collection to you. It's great to see that there are good people out... plus, he knows that his spiders will live their best lives with you! 😁🤩😍
I think Camera lady needs a raise Dave lol she does a sterling job, sat in the canteen at work and with you beamed to the big tv in the canteen lol 😆 she’s beautiful
Great video.... I love when you explain why you care for your T's the way that you do; it helps demystify some of the crap you hear online. Keep up the great work!
When I started watching, there were no shelves. Now there are shelves, and they are full! I have learned so much about these amazing creatures because of you Dave. I will never own one, but I can appreciate them.
I hope you've drummed it into everyone about humidity.... I don't know what your day job is but you would be a fantastic teacher . most creatures seek a secure place to rest and as long as they feel hidden I'm sure a minimal depth of substrate is really satisfactory to a spider
Absolutely brilliant Dave, very enjoyable, and very good advice, regarding the enclosures, anyway Dave another super job by yourself and camera 📷 lady.
Thanks Dave for inspiration in creating a piece of forest for our pupils, I collected a bit of forest yesterday, I placed the terrarium in the blistering wall, wow the killer effect this green is enlightening, the spider terrestrial is still in view great effect at home👍
The one Species that did play up ! LOL Was gentley encouraging one into a good position for a photo, when the Sod ran up the tongs towards my hand.... dropped the tongs like they were burning ! LOVL Beautiful Spiders.
Hello Dave and Mrs Camera Lady from Melbourne Australia. I somehow found your videos even they I am terribly afraid of spiders and crawling things but you're videos have tought me so many things and when I see a spider I just hear Dave in my head saying be calm, be gentle and love you're spiders. I have a new found respect for them. Thank you for your hard work.
I've also noticed that you are far more concerned with what's best for your T's as opposed to what's most visually appealing to yourself... Speaks volumes to me... 👍😃👍
I just rehoused my Psalmopeus cambridgei today. Everything went great! I coaxed her out with the paintbrush and Elrira slowly moved into forever home. Yay!... and not one threat pose!
Great video as always dave, I use to have a cobalt blue, but certain things happened, beyond my control, anyway, never had a threat, bolt anything, use to see her out from time to time too, it's as you say, the more you make them comfortable the less trouble they are or likely to flee, doing a few rehousings on mine over next few weeks, hopefully as smooth as yours. Keep it up 👍🏻
You always amaze me David.. the care and patients and love you give your critters is inspiring.. I have always had respect for critters of all sizes.. except for fly's and mosquitoes.. (another reason to love your spiders!) It is always a joy for me to watch your videos.. I even go back on the days you don't post and watch one or two of the old ones again.. I can never tell you how much I appreciate your video's Both of you guys are fantastic..
Speaking of Thailand, did you see the new species that was discovered there in January of this year? It’s called Taksinus bambus and lives in the hollow bamboo stalks. Very pretty spider!
Please keep the lectures coming. It shows and reminds us to love or spiders and makes us think before we do something. Please take camera lady out for dinner she is doing wonderful work as always.
You're so right about the horror stories, Dave... One of the first spiders I had was a Cobalt Blue. I was warned by pet shops & other keepers back then that they were a "...really NASTY species...". The one I had was so docile - I thought I'd got the wrong species !
Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💕💙 hope you’re both doing well today. I know I’m not one that’s in the hobby, just one that’s totally fascinated by Tarantulas 🕷🕷 BUT, I now know shed loads about them. All by being addicted to your TH-cam Channel. I hope that TicToc sort this fella or female out that’s stealing your content! You and camera lady put the hard work into building your channel, not them! Looking forward to seeing your next video 🕷🕷 Take care and stay safe 😘 xxx
Good job Dave! We in the States are dealing with some erratic heat this year and I have noticed that I have had to make a husbandry change when it comes to my moisture needing species. Compared to the colder months, the summer takes a lot longer to dry an enclosure out. I even have a ceiling fan in my spider room to keep the air moving. I am one of those Exo users. I am also one of those that likes to give lots of substrate to my fossorials. I have 4 Cobalts, actually. 1 blue and 3 "green" morphs. They are kept in 8"x8"x12" enclosures with a good 7" of substrate. For me, it makes keeping them much simpler and easier to keep the microclimate proper. Anyway, great content as usual. I always look forward to your vids as I get my day going at work ;) Also - mine have, all 4 , been golden anytime I've had to deal with them. :)
My H. Pulchripes is a fossorial & oldworld species, but she's super gentil! I got really impressed with her. Nice explanation on the humidity topic throught the summer 🙏🏼👌🏼 And my Aphonopelma seemani turn out Blue 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 like she was a shiny Brown and now she's blue?! I'm mindblown with that
I just came across this video - interesting as always, especially about the humidity. I can tell that camera lady ‘gets you’ and enjoys sharing the hobby with you! 💙💖
Everyone says the cobalt blue is the worst and most aggro, and you just gently push her out without even being afraid of the door being open! It’s like she can feel your energy. Gives me hope to get one someday
hey Dave, thanks for the humidity information, its priceless! got a fan running in my vivarium so that the air doesn't stagnate, and I've just taken the little plastic tops from off the mesh tops so humidity can escape.have a great day mate
Beautiful spider Dave, I have had two of the C. Lividum they were sisters, one was a very well behaved, the other was quite a naughty girl very feisty! Love the video and all your hard work Dave...Thank you sir!
I've just got a grown on sling from spa spiders (from your recommendation) ,it's a stunning spider .It's refurbished it's little place already and made a couple of burrows ,very true what you say about being at the mouth of the burrow,Great tips for dealing with the hot weather Dave 👍. Fantastic channel ❤️
I'm no expert but the way I understand it, the bright colors they have reflect light in a specific way they can see. They use that and movement vibrations to identify other spiders. They depend more on vibrations than sight though.
Wow, what a compliment to you to have someone trust you with his tarantulas. The garden spiders in my yard thank you. lol! I now have a better appreciation for all spiders. I used tear down their webs because I was not a fan of spiders. Your channel has given me a better understanding of all spiders.
Ive been mentioning about top and bottom ventilation in a number of groups the idea was based on the stack effect or chimney effect. It is true that you need that air flow to avoid stagnant air with top and bottom ventilation. The top vent is needed to help release the heat and humidity to avoid stagnant air the bottom vent is needed to draw fresh air in. Cross vent useless without the two above. One other thing top and bottom vent if the bottom vent it to big it will draw to much air in as well as a loss in humidity and the substrate drys quicker
Dave THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THAT POINT ON VENTILATION!!! You’re ABSOLUTELY right and I’ll give a good example. I have my adult female Seemanni in a 20 long with a plexiglass top. 2 weeks ago I changed my “spider room” to my office where I usually keep the vent closed. I was keeping the door closed, as well, the first week and noticed a few days ago that the 20 tank had a little condensation starting in a couple spots on the inside of the glass and FREAKED OUT. It stays around 70-75 degrees F in that room (we keep it around 67-68F in the rest of the house). It’s been close to 100F here in Tennessee the past few weeks and we’ve had NO rain (until this weekend finally) and our humidity here is insane… SO I realized that I was creating wayyy too much humidity. (Humidity stays high in our house as well). So much that my Seemanni usually hangs out in the planter in the enclosure with her pathos plant (it’s part of the custom backing made in the tank), and she actually was in her hide that I had created for her that she really never uses. And I NEVER spray her enclosure because I never have to. So yeah. Just thought I’d share that to show that Dave is 100000% correct. Be careful! Wonderful video Dave, you always teach us such great things! BEAUTIFUL new girl too! Congrats!
I think I may even switch to a mesh lid, even though everyone (at least over here in the states) claims blasphemy on them because it seems it’s staying way too humid in there but she loves that tank so much I don’t wanna rehouse her again.
*I really respect the fact you don't poke or budge the T after rehousing it to get a "good shot" of it. I will say it would be cool if you got footage of it later on getting some food, moving about, or even just in a different spot that you include in these at the end. 🤷🏻♂️ Love your videos!*
My Lividus is a treat to have. She has never been defensive with me. The store clerk named her Princess, so I kept the name for her. I used to rarely see her, but with the warmer temperatures outside, she has been coming up from her burrow more often.
A beauty for sure ! Too bad we don't get to see them all that often. Looking forward to see what other Ts have been donated to the Beastie Room. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
I swapped my lids for acrylic lids i made. They let out just as much as the mesh because I drilled about 200 6mm holes. I originally wasn't bothered by the mesh till i witnessed by T vagans get her toe stuck and i had to free it for for.
Your vagans crawled all the way up there?! Sometimes, our critters DO not understand/care about what KIND, they are!!🤦♂️🙄 One of my hobby friends once had a rosea, that managed to escape. He found her hanging from his bookshelf, where her foot was stuck! 😄
Great advice dave. With my spiders in heat. I just do my normal. Just water in water bowls. But in this heat. I open windows but close curtains so sun don't magnify. And have room door open so air flows. I have komodo and exos with mesh list
I think Camera Lady should get a dozen roses for that comment !!! Hot....man, at 9am this morning, it was already 25° and being surrounded by the Great Lakes, the humidity makes it feel like 30°. This afternoon will be worse, lol
I got a juvenile cobalt on Saturday. Opened the container a quarter inch to snap a picture and it bolted and got loose. I grabbed a taco bell cup nearby. She stayed in that cup all night inside a critter keeper with substrate. Gave me a heartattack. Lol
Hi Dave, I remember when I got mine. She stayed out in the open like that for about a week. I think it was a kind of shock, like you mentioned. Then I came home from work one day and she had made a deep burrow all in a day. Fantastic tarantula.
You’re absolutely right about lots of moisture and high heat being a terrible thing for most enclosures. Unfortunately i think a huge majority of the tarantulas kept in the hobby suffer because of misinformation
Oh my, having a bit of a domestic during a rehouse! XD On a more serious note, I am one of those folks who always replaces the screen tops on my ExoTerras with acrylic on account of keeping mostly new world terrestrial tarantulas that sometimes like to pretend they're Spider Man and go for a walk on the ceiling, but you certainly do make a compelling argument in favor of screen tops. If only I could trust my spiders to not go on ceiling strolls lol
For all the peeps commenting on Dave making a comment towards camera lady about moving the caps.. y'all r Karen's! If u r true followers of this channel u knw how much these 2 love and respect each other ... and knw that Dave is just "talking shit" cuz thats what couples do. If you r married and dnt interact with your spouse in a way that can't be laughed at.. u r the one w the relationship issues
My C. lividus is currently 5cm and I recently rehomed it, and I did give it a lot of substrate, about 20cm deep. Mainly cos I wanted to see how deep it would dig. It's gone almost to the bottom, plus making a web tube at the top (it's in a Tarantula Room tank which has an overhanging lip around the edge so it's made a tunnel along the edge under that). It's very cool to see. The tank is bloody heavy though so I don't think I'll be upscaling the depth when I rehome it again.
Had to rehouse mine recently. I had her in a hard to get out of tub. So I had to dig her up and make her unhappy :C But I don't blame her for being upset with me. Spiders are always defensive not aggressive imo
I do agree with your "not watering to much methods in hot weather methods and the airflow," but the thing is.. Some keepers will have built in thermostat in their space heaters just to insure the temps doesn't rise or fall. It remains steady. Some of these space heaters are so high tech, you can even setup a cooling period when the heat will automatically shut down be lowered down at dusk. I've even seen some with remote controls than dialing up the the temps on the space heater manually.

I liked the water bowl. It looks natural.
*I really respect the fact you don't poke or budge the T after rehousing it to get a "good shot" of it. I will say it would be cool if you got footage of it later on getting some food, moving about, or even just in a different spot that you include in these at the end. 🤷🏻♂️ Love your videos!*
Beautiful spider and very informative Dave thank you as always for the wonderful video
My Lividus is a treat to have. She has never been defensive with me. The store clerk named her Princess, so I kept the name for her. I used to rarely see her, but with the warmer temperatures outside, she has been coming up from her burrow more often.
She is a real beauty Dave, has to be one of your best lookers !!!!!!!!!!!
Great advice as usual Dave, thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Looking forward to the recap video.
I think Camera Lady should get a dozen roses for that comment !!!
Hot....man, at 9am this morning, it was already 25° and being surrounded by the Great Lakes, the humidity makes it feel like 30°. This afternoon will be worse, lol
She's a beauty that one. I tend to love the blue ones 😁
I got a juvenile cobalt on Saturday. Opened the container a quarter inch to snap a picture and it bolted and got loose. I grabbed a taco bell cup nearby. She stayed in that cup all night inside a critter keeper with substrate. Gave me a heartattack. Lol
😂😂😂always be prepared 👍❤️
Hi Dave, I remember when I got mine. She stayed out in the open like that for about a week. I think it was a kind of shock, like you mentioned. Then I came home from work one day and she had made a deep burrow all in a day. Fantastic tarantula.
You’re absolutely right about lots of moisture and high heat being a terrible thing for most enclosures. Unfortunately i think a huge majority of the tarantulas kept in the hobby suffer because of misinformation
I've not owned one of these for years great video as always buddy
Oh my, having a bit of a domestic during a rehouse! XD On a more serious note, I am one of those folks who always replaces the screen tops on my ExoTerras with acrylic on account of keeping mostly new world terrestrial tarantulas that sometimes like to pretend they're Spider Man and go for a walk on the ceiling, but you certainly do make a compelling argument in favor of screen tops. If only I could trust my spiders to not go on ceiling strolls lol
Ooooh that recap video will be great
For all the peeps commenting on Dave making a comment towards camera lady about moving the caps.. y'all r Karen's! If u r true followers of this channel u knw how much these 2 love and respect each other ... and knw that Dave is just "talking shit" cuz thats what couples do. If you r married and dnt interact with your spouse in a way that can't be laughed at.. u r the one w the relationship issues
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Dave for that great information! My Avic pink toe is in a exo terra full mesh top, my Versi color sling is in a small Zilla enclosure.
My C. lividus is currently 5cm and I recently rehomed it, and I did give it a lot of substrate, about 20cm deep.
Lovely housing 😁
Love this !! Love how you show its how you house your T's will decide the behavior of the c.lividus... i just got 3 slings 2 green's and one blue😁
Can we see another midnight Beastie Room tour? I love those!
I love those too! So cool to watch! I think it`s time for another one.
That’s an idea 👍😎❤️
