150 Gallon Desert Simulation ( With Natural Disasters )

- Simulating a desert for 100 days using 150 gallon used tank. It's home to crickets, lizards, scorpions, spiders, toads and much more!! Some I didn't even put in there. Even has cacti flowers and a desert rose.
Watch as it goes from a bare wasteland to a thriving ecosystem to Mother Nature has other plans..
This ecosystem is filmed over 100 days and took months to edit it all together!

It has been amazing to see all the love ❤ for this video!! Thank you guys!! It’s only going to get better!
This is so beautiful this deserves at least 1 million subs
@@Electro_L1ght thank you
Do you know what lizard species was in this video? Looks super cool love the content
just beautiful, I love this video
@@user-nj7yx8if3f Great Plains skink
I genuinely thought I was watching a video made by someone with millions of subs. Amazing content for your size, hopefully you get the recognition and exposure you deserve.
Thank you 😊
@@MrHillbillygod dam same thought j had at least 100k you’re good bro don’t stop
@@humorouis2297 thanks! The vids will get better soon as I figure out this new camera
it isnt?
It is a very similar video to
"I made a desert ecosystem"
"I never had the money, nor the space, nor time... but today I do" that's so beautiful to hear... that gave me goose bumps
Thank you!
Yeah! ❤
Yeah! ❤
No!😈
😂😂😂😂
That ant is, yes, a queen ant. It is Solenopsis Geminata (Tropical Fire Ant) and ghey can grow to millions in 4-9 months.
bro you’re EXTREMELY UNDERRATED!!! you’ll have a million subs within a year if you keep this effort up! the editing style, the story telling, everything is S tier
Thank you! I appreciate that
@@MrHillbilly the only things i dont like about this video, is the not funny jokes especially the ones with the high voices (like the parkour one with the frog), the music that doesn’t really sound good, and the differing theme between the text and stuff, like the text bubble compared to the “DAY -.” keep up the work with everything else, especially the scapes though
I’m glad to see Dr. Plants inspiring people (idk if you were inspired or not) it’s really great to see more of this content
yes Inspiration did come from his video but I didn't do exactly what he did
@@MrHillbilly Wasn’t saying you did I just meant it’s great to see more of the ecosystem content
Ant queen
@@MrHillbilly No you didn't do it exactly how he did but it was pretty damn close you even put in some of the same animals as him like the isopods and the beetles and the scorpion.
and there is no way that you left the water system going for 40 days that whole tank would be full.
there was a lot of stuff that you faked in that video like putting the different animals in at once.
there is a few more things I could go over but I won't.
The queen ant looks like a phedole or solenopsis
Had me hooked the first 15 seconds into the video, like other people have said before I was expecting hundreds of thousands if not millions of subscribers. Excited to see where this goes from 7k subs. Good job and good luck!
Thank you!
"Year 2: I added so much camels, meet the hyena"
Not a bad idea! Haha
@@MrHillbilly omg hi u are my idol
Aww thanks!
Holy moly this was one of the best videos of an ecosystem I’ve seen.
(You’ve earned a sub)
The ant is a Queen fire ant, it got in there from the colony's nuptial flight (when they send their elates the future queens, and male elates to mate then male dies from getting the queen fertilized) and the elates fly out of colony to find a place to build it's own colony. Then it takes its wings off to signify that it has found it's home.
I understand how queens work, but I’m just wondering how the hell it got in there. Also, they spell bad news for the ecosystem if the queen didn’t get merked by a toad or one of the other predators. They are really cool though
@@Hero_of_the_Imperiumwdym, it’s literally open
its easy to get in there esp when u can fly
@@Hero_of_the_Imperium ants are very sensible. it prolly just sensed all the creatures inside the aquarium while it was tryna find a new home. either sensed, smelt, heard em, or however ants senses are. i just know they are highly developed.
Extremely underrated content, Extraordinary detail, and keeping the viewers entertained by communication, as well as not using overly sophisticated language.
I love your jokes, and especially the one where you called the toads fat and lazy. 😂
Love your channel, and you just got my like and sub. ❤
Thank you!
4:54 Yes that is actually a queen ant.
I just noticed your channel is brand new and looking forward to more amazing videos! Keep it up bro!
Thanks! Will do!
“The toads were being fat and lazy as usual,” most funiest thing ive heard in this video 😂
Thank you! They will be making an appearance in the next video as parents! All 9 of them 👀
This is amazing man really appreciate you’re time and effort in order to make this possible
My pleasure!
Wo those are some cleannn shots !
what camera do you use for the closeups ?
NORMEE!
Here before this blows up!
Canon R6 mark 2 with a 100 mm macro lens And some were shot with an IPhone 13 Pro
@@MrHillbilly OH DAMN thats the cam i use lol. guess ur just better at setting up the shot than me
@@Normee there are videos that show you how to get shots like that if you want me to explain it I can do that very quick so all you need to do is you have you can you hold on your camera and have it focused in wherever you want it and you can do close-ups you can do far away stuff like that you can do shorts little trailer stuff like that so I hope this is helpful for you
get closer to God pls there is gonna be many people who arnt going to make it to the kingdom of heaven🙏✝️ko
It's great to see more and more of this content.
I have plenty more of them coming soon! Thanks for watching 👊
Absolutely love your video !!
Especially your Skinks, have not seen them for years
Must be an amazing experience watching the ecosystem become alive and every one carrying out their daily duties
Thank you for sharing
Wow good video! Def subscribing. I have a feeling this channel is going to explode ~ can’t wait for the update
I died at the cricket helping his friend with his antennas while the other one was yelling for help!😂😂
Well done! This is an amazing video. Thank you for creating and sharing!
Thank you for watching it!

I love watching your videos! The content is great! Your sense of humour and commentary is brilliant! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the next notification I get alerting me of a new uploaded video! Thank you for the entertainment you provide.
Thank you for watching!
You deserve a lot more!,liked and subscribed!!!
This is an amazing set up! Can you explain a little more on how you set up your watering system for the rainstorms?
Yes Im doing it in the sequel.
This looks awesome. You should make more of these ecosystem simulations
do more of these simulation type videos bro, it’s so fascinating watching it while i’m high
Your content is truly unmatched! Super high quality, i love it so much🙏❤️
Thank you 😊
This is great. I want to do something like this but without the flooding. I live in FL now and have 150 gallon fish tank but I'm moving to AZ and was trying to decide what I should with my tank..kind of want to something more deserty. So this was a great inspiration!
Ya the desert tanks always look good
Well done! Great vid. I also have the same misting system.
Very cool!
Your commentary is hilarious, the part where the toad spat out the isopod had me dying. Great video, and cool set up.
Thanks!
Funny to watch.Looking forward the next episode❤
the storm was so creative, makes it 500x more natural
Thanks!
I am pretty sure that the ant was a queen
Can we just appreciate all the hard work that people like dr.plants and mr.hillbilly put into these videos
When the storm came my fan blasted on me and it felt like I was watching a 4D movie. Great video!
Oh that’s perfect timing! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is pure awesomeness, I love watching terrariums and fish tank setups, so this is really cool!
More to come! Thanks for watching. It means a lot to me!
I would love to see a rainforest simulation
It’s on my list!
You have great humour and great narration. You are easily gonna get even more popular. I hope you have fun.
W vid man, this should be more viral
Great video my guy! Like some other commenters said, I too was pretty surprised to see how “few” subs you have compared to the video quality (the subs count isn’t that few but the video could pass for something on a much larger channel is what I’m trying to say.) I was genuinely interested in the fate of these creatures and their home. Oh, and the instant gratification of seeing this from day 1 to day like 100 or whatever in a single video… perfection!
Keep it up! Deff got my sub today.
Thank you! That means A lot!
please do more of this videos I like them so much PLEASEEE!
I’ve been working on the 3rd episode for 2 months now. Taking longer than expected.
Thanks man this made my day👌
2:27 I FUCKING DIED WHEN THE FROG SPIT BACK THE BUG 😂😂😂😂
Love these types of people dr. Planet is just like you. This was GREAT, love the content, truly amazing work.
Wow, thank you!
Nice vid
I enjoyed this way too much. Man you gave me ideas. Haha, amazing work. Keep it up.
Glad to hear it!
I couldn't wait to see the topia!!! I love how you present your work.
It’s coming soon
I found this very entertaining and I also love the design of it. Can’t wait for more
Glad you enjoyed it!
What happens to the animals tho
@@dylanzsworld38 you will see in the Grand Canyon video
Ok thank you
Wow I love the video
Thank you!
@@MrHillbilly you should add a bearded dragon to the ecosystem next video
its coming in the 3rd stage!! of this series
@@MrHillbilly when will that be
I think it might be a carpenter ant queen
What a beautiful presentation of your amazing hobby. I'm looking forward to see how tour desert will grow.
We loved it. Subscribed.
Hi, I keep ants as pets in Formicariums and that ant you found is a queen! Not sure on the species but I want to say it’s either of the genus Solenopsis or Camponotus. You might want to start keeping ants in terrariums, because they are great scavengers and hunters and active when the colony gets past the founding stage. Don’t keep fire ants though, because they will probably kill everything in there over time because they can get VERY big and overwhelm animals and insects. And then after they take over the terrarium they will probably escape into your house!
Good to know thanks!
Oh okay@AufmerksamkeitSterben
You really need to make a part 2 of this. Or you can make a jungle or forest ecosystem with predators and prey!
Part 2 is coming!
Loved this video!
This video was epic!! Keep up the excellent work, I just subscribed!
Thank you
Awesome video man! Keep working hard and making content. God bless you!. It's great to see more and more of this content..
Thank you! That means a lot! 🔥
How the fuse you only have 10k subs?! This video is so good already
that baby five stripe lizard was so cute :)
No idea why but around day 75 after the storm the banjo music played and it hit hard I felt amazing as new life started to grow
Also did anything live the storm?
Yes everything is alive
I honestly love this stuff keep going Mr. hillbilly
2:40 wtf
Your editing is hilarious! Keep it up
I love watching these videos thank you for being part of this community ❤️
You are so welcome!
Dont know the species but thats a queen ant!
looks like a fire ant queen
Ya everyone is saying fire ant queen. Thanks for watching!!
I think its orange weaver ant
It cant be a weaver ant they dont have black and red queens and are much bigger
I believe a crematorgastor species. I live in California and have found crematogastor queens like that.
Glad people are making their own type of videos like the original one.
Fr💀
Another great video. I appreciate your work
Thank you
I really like this video. The editing is really entertaining and keeps me engaged . Please continue to make more videos! You remind me of AntsCanada
Thanks! I’m currently working on 2 more. They just take a while to make them.
Amazing content 😮 Cant wait for part 2 !
It's great to see more and more of this content.. this guy is so underrated keep up the good work man.
Thank you! Will do
I loved the INTENSE music u added when I placed in the animals 😂😅😊
Thanks!
Thanks for this❤
So awesome!
Thanks!
wait till you see the flooded swamp! The creatures I have planned for it will blow minds!
Well done. I would never have thought to do this, especially with natural disasters lol ❤🏴
Not good practice for the animals to be honest.
I just realized you only had 17K subs i thought u would have like 2 million keep it up man!
I appreciate that!
That's awesome! Looks like a natural creature ❤
I have two ant colonies and I can say that that ant is a queen
“If Joe Biden was a lizard?”
😂
I subscribed 🎉after you said that
🤣
Super entertaining to watch, good job. Look forward to more ecosystem/simulation videos
Oh no pee-wee🫣🥲wow amazing video and project loved everything!! Music was perfect.👍
Thanks so much! 😊
This is better than the other terrarium simulation videos on TH-cam! Keep up the great work!! You deserve more subscribers for the effort you put in.
Wow, thanks!
Insane video, easily comparable to that of larger channels, such as Dr. Plants or Terrarium Designs, despite being a relatively small channel. Looking forward to future videos 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Randomly found this video, your work Impressed me unlike other TH-camrs, you are super underrated and keep up the good work, you earned a sub❤
Thank you! That means a lot 😊
@@MrHillbilly of course man ❤️ I hope you have a great day!
Brooo your recording/editing skills are crazzzyyy 🙌🏽 keep up the good work
Thank you 😊
Love the video! At some point I want to make an ecosystem where there’s a sea in the middle and there are two islands on the sides One a desert ecosystem and the other a Forest ecosystem like the one in this video!
That would be cool!
That ant is a fire ant queen (solenopsis geminata/Invicta) I think. If she establishes a colony the whole terrarium is done for, you can watch ants canada to see the extent of their destructive power
Holy sh*t’
definitely not a fire ant queen, its a crematogaster sp queen
further explanation???@@josephkim982
Oh shi this reminds me of that one TH-camr who does really creative videos, good job dude
Wow, thanks
Definitely earned a subscriber
i thought this was doctor plants for a second but then i saw who it was and im happy to see another youtuber doing more stuff like this the video was god tier quality 1 + sub
Thank you! 😊
The ant is a queen crematogaster scutellaris
Really I thought it was a fire ant queen
First video I have seen of yours and you deserve a new sub never give up keep going you are gonna be more big in the future just never give up
Thank you! I will be doing a second update video on this enclosure before tearing it down and starting over. It has many issues and I’ll point them out in the next one and show how to correct it. Main issue being I didn’t have a false bottom for water so the sand sucked it all up and created a mold problem.
@@MrHillbilly I can't wait to see the next one
Broooooo yesssss I absolutely loved this you my man got a new subscriber I fucking can't wait for amphibiantopia n I absolutely enjoy your editing bro it not to crazy just simple well planned n very fucking enjoyable
Thanks man! I appreciate that
accurate joe biden
You should add Mexican jumping beans along with zebra isopods, they help add color and variety to the environment, (Just be aware that the Mexican jumping beans turn into moths)
🤣🤣
This is the best thing I watched in a while
Remember me when your famous keep up the work homie

bru i had to sub :|
I hope triops and brine shrimp eggs are in the sand :p
I doubt it. I got the sand from the desert here by my house and we never get rain…. Plus I didn’t put any in there 😂
