I was blown away by this concert. I started going to Robert plants solo tours in 1983. He did know Led Zeppelin Songs but his solo work was very good.Then in 1988 in Hartford CT he started doing Zeppelin songs for the first time since Led Zeppelin Broke up in 1980. The first Zeppelin song i ever heard live was IN THE EVENING THE PLACE WENT WILD, A ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE EVERYONE WAS PATTING EACH OTHER ON THE BACK ,SHAKING HANDS, PEOPLE WERE GETTING ALONG LIKE A FAMILY I WISH THAT STILL EXISTED TODAY. He also did NOBODYS FAULT BUT MINE, MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP, AND WHEN HE REUNITED WITH JIMMY PAGE I WENT TO 8 OF THERE CONCERTS THIS WAS ONE OF THEM I WILL NEVER FORGET IT ,ROBERT PLANT SOUNDED AWESOME AND WAS FULL OF THAT COSMIC ENERGY HE WAS 50 YEARS OLD AMAZING, JIMMY PAGE BLEW EVERYONE AWAY, HE SOUNDED IN PERFECT FORM, FULL OF ENERGY AND THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN PLANT AND PAGE WAS THERE FOR SURE.
I’m so glad you got to see Page and Plant. Truly, the next best thing to Zeppelin. I only saw Zepp once: L.A. Forum, Physical Graffiti Tour. The memory is emblazoned on my neurons, simply amazing! Page and Plant was such an amazing tour, such an excellent album. It simply doesn’t get better than those guys. Cheers! 🍻

I was at this show, thanks for posting! I will never forget everyone holding out lighters during Going to California. It was an electric evening. I still remember the crowd screaming and crying well after the show was over all the way through the hallways, stairways, escalators and main lobby all the way out into the street.
Saw them twice at Wembley Arena. Jimmy was amazing. His solo on Babe I'm Gonna Leave You was the best live guitar solo I've ever heard. It went right to your soul, stirred so many emotions, left me spellbound. There's a professionally filmed version of this song: Page and Plant Live in Paris.
There I was in 1997, 14 years old, so excited I would see the Smashing Pumpkins as my first "rock concert". And my dad says "Who, Billy Corgan? That sad mofo? THIS WILL NOT BE MY SON'S FIRST CONCERT." So. For my birthday, my dad said "No way will SP be my son's first concert." And he worked some salesman magic to get two tickets to this show. This was my first concert ever. I'm now 40. We walked down the fire stairs to leave the show and I told my dad "we're in so much trouble, the building's on fire" and his response was "BREATHE DEEP SON, THIS IS THE BEST NIGHT OF YOUR LIFE". It was pretty close. My dad's still here thank god. He still rubs it in my face.

1998 was Jimmy doing what he wanted to do - rock. The orchestras were cute, and JP put up with it, but this is what he wanted to do. Then Plant bailed on him.

I was at this show. Still have the ticket stub and tour program. It was my first MSG show, nothing like Page and Plant to break in the Garden for me with some Zeppelin, quite fitting actually. Great show.
I saw the Boston show as well. Front row behind Michael Lee. The energy after the show has stayed with me my whole life. I still remember the girl who caught his stick after Rock & Roll and how happy she was catching it!! I grew up a Zep fan and was lucky to have seen Jimmy quite a few times in the 90's. Boston 98 was by far the best and most exciting. I saw Page in Oct 95, July 98, Oct 99, July 2000. I got to meet him in NYC in 2014 and that was very special.
This show is absolutely electric! Robert is so into it and Jimmy hadn’t played this well since 75. I saw this tour and 95 in Toronto. Tears came to my eyes for both shows it was so emotional. I just wish JPJ had been invited on this tour….that would have added a little touch more. Thank you for the upload,friend. ✌️
Was at the 98 show in Toronto at Molson Amphitheatre. It was in the summer and the weather was great for an outdoor show. Band were incredible. Great memories. I know it's called Budweiser Stage now but it'll always be Molson Amphitheatre to me.
1998 Tour might be the best that Jimmy and Robert have ever sounded. Mind you I did not see them in the 70s but I did watch them 2x in 1994 and saw the Toronto show in 1998....the 98 show was astounding, as is this show!
I agree 1998 was amazing. I had seen them on the previous tour as well and while it was a thrill to see them together. I don't think Jimmy was playing as well as this tour. This tour was truly the peak of their all too brief union.

I can relate to the first 10 or so comments before this post of mine. I cry every time I see or hear a new video. These two men were amazing, along with JPJ & JHB. If anything had been different, it wouldn't be as it was. The GREATEST ROCK MUSIC EVER!!!!!!! 🎶 I noticed something that I already knew about Jimmy, and that's how clean and un-scarred or chipped or scratched up both No.1 & No.2 are (the Sunburst Les Pauls)Paul's. They look like they did in '77, and I saw them close up. To steal & repurpose a phrase : I like Guitarists who take care of and revere their instruments, not ones who thrash & degrade them!!!!!!! To me a Les Paul, & other Gibson 🎸 's are works of ART, more beautiful than any painting, sculpture, etc. My other Gibson 🎸 is a 1950 ES-125 archtop hollowbody f- hole acoustic-electric in Tobacco Sunburst finish that I use for strange Tunings & Slide. I saw them on this tour at Irvine Meadows. What an incredible night. It was without question the closest I will get to seeing Zeppelin live. I haven't seen Jimmy play that well in years. I had seem them on their previous tour as well and this so much better. No orchestras just the a 4 piece band except on certain songs where a keyboard player came out.
Saw this show at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. Pretty much the same setlist as I recall. Great energy from all the guys. I also remember the audience losing its collective mind the entire night. I think it's the closest I've ever heard to continuous cheering like in Beatles footage, but with a 1990's sound system that could easily play over the continuous screaming.
I so grateful to have seen the Page/Plant Albany and Boston shows in 1998, as well as Buffalo in 1995. They were just so Goddamn great! My buddy and I were at the Albany show....at the end of the show (Rock and Roll)...Plant just yelled, “ahhhh suck it!” It was so perfect we laughed our heads off!
Anybody who’s spent any time in midtown Manhattan know there’s an incredible energy, and creative electricity in the air… Broadway, Carnegie hall, Lincoln center, Radio city music hall, NY philharmonic, NYC ballet, the actor’s studio, Juilliard… and the largest venue, Madison Square Garden. It’s no surprise that Robert and Jimmy always had incredible shows at MSG.
God they were so good on this tour, both at their post Zeppelin best!!! Shame Robert walked away after this tour. Walking into Clarksdale was great and the songs fit in great with the Zeppelin stuff. And how cool is it to see Page playing a PRS!!!
The really crazy thing is they're jamming like they're peaking and page is in his late 50s here that walking into clarksdale tour is music and musicians and music lovers gathering for the ultimate joy music can possibly bring words can't explain the emotion of euphoria that's going on here
The only problem I have with this video is whoever shot it spends a lot of time focusing on the drummer Michael Lee while Plant & Page are off camera doing incredible things. I don't understand why. But the sound quality is pretty good.
Totally agree. Page was riffing his brilliant ass off during How Many More Times but the camera guy is completely focused on Micheal Lee. I loved Mike Lee but c’mon man. 🤦♀️
What is it something like 40 years these two have been standing side-by-side on stages around the world rocking the fuck out? Most marriages don't last that long! That's quite impressive. And if they were to get back together tomorrow, they would sound just as good.
Haha at this stage (1998) its been more like 30 with a 15 year gap in the middle, and while i approve of your enthusiasm Page has barley touched a guitar in the last 10 years which does not bode well and while i still think Plant sounds great i think he would have alot of trouble singing a full 2-hour set of rocking Zep tunes these days... They could prob do a more stipped back semi - acoustic show like the 94/95 shows though... :)
Been a Zeppelin fan since 69. Appreciate people posting videos but a lot are like this one. Video and audio quality are maybe a 6 out of 10. Plenty of videos of higher quality out there.
I cant understand why plant has so much trouble over the last 20 years of playing with Jimmy I cant understand it when these guys are together just awesome. People go nuts when Jimmy Page and Robert Plant our together
I honestly don't think it has anything to do with how Plant feels about Page (or Jones, for that matter). I think it's the fact that playing those songs with those guys brings him too close to the memories of being in Led Zeppelin, which brings up all the pain and the sadness he still feels about losing his best friend, John Bonham.
I have heard the main reason is that Plant sold his 20% of zeppelin during his divorce, rumor has it that Page bought it, therefore Robert receives no royalties from the original Zeppelin catalog, this is the main sticking point, assuming Plant wants his 20% back in trade to do a zeppelin tour, so if this is correct, it’s Pages fault that no Zeppelin tour has come about Obviously it’s very complicated financial and personal reasons that none of us could ever understand
@@jb6963 well years ago when Atlantic records president died they did that one big concert in London and Page told plant that if we go on tour I'll give you 250 million. I can't believe he let that go or he could have got his 20% back either one would have been fine the plant. None of it adds up

Hafta remember, back then u weren’t allowed to video shows, no iPhones, so whoever recorded this was also trying to hide a camcorder. Give them some credit, it may not be the best video but at least we have it. Others had their recordings taken away as I read in the comments . And no matter what, we have the music to listen to. 👍

Unfortunately I was born a few weeks after Bonham’s death… however I was 17 years old living in Portland, Oregon when this last Page/Plant tour came through… even then at 17 I knew that these two guys were legends, but it wasn’t until many many years later that I realized how incredibly lucky I was to actually be in a room with these two Gods. In my opinion James Patrick Page is up there with Mozart and Beethoven, and will be held in the same light by people 200 years from now…
How they can leave the audience knowing they have been in the presence of greatness yet not having played their two masterpieces; STH and Kashmir.....no other act could ever hope to get away with that. (I know Jimmy played the intro to STH at the end of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You). That's because every Zeppelin song was a work of genius.

Ah the memories - I was there too! I can't believe this was so long ago. The '98 tour was great - too bad Plant tired of it all and bailed on the entire project just a few months later
I saw them on this tour at Irvine Meadows. What an incredible night. It was without question the closest I will get to seeing Zeppelin live. I haven't seen Jimmy play that well in years. I had seem them on their previous tour as well and this so much better. No orchestras just the a 4 piece band except on certain songs where a keyboard player came out.
I appreciate that they were able to focus on this celebration!!!🔥👏 They didn't fall apart!! 🤝🥇🙋🏻♀️

Saw this show at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. Pretty much the same setlist as I recall. Great energy from all the guys. I also remember the audience losing its collective mind the entire night. I think it's the closest I've ever heard to continuous cheering like in Beatles footage, but with a 1990's sound system that could easily play over the continuous screaming.

I so grateful to have seen the Page/Plant Albany and Boston shows in 1998, as well as Buffalo in 1995. They were just so Goddamn great! My buddy and I were at the Albany show....at the end of the show (Rock and Roll)...Plant just yelled, “ahhhh suck it!” It was so perfect we laughed our heads off!

Anybody who’s spent any time in midtown Manhattan know there’s an incredible energy, and creative electricity in the air… Broadway, Carnegie hall, Lincoln center, Radio city music hall, NY philharmonic, NYC ballet, the actor’s studio, Juilliard… and the largest venue, Madison Square Garden. It’s no surprise that Robert and Jimmy always had incredible shows at MSG.

God they were so good on this tour, both at their post Zeppelin best!!! Shame Robert walked away after this tour. Walking into Clarksdale was great and the songs fit in great with the Zeppelin stuff. And how cool is it to see Page playing a PRS!!!

The really crazy thing is they're jamming like they're peaking and page is in his late 50s here that walking into clarksdale tour is music and musicians and music lovers gathering for the ultimate joy music can possibly bring words can't explain the emotion of euphoria that's going on here

The only problem I have with this video is whoever shot it spends a lot of time focusing on the drummer Michael Lee while Plant & Page are off camera doing incredible things. I don't understand why. But the sound quality is pretty good.
Totally agree. Page was riffing his brilliant ass off during How Many More Times but the camera guy is completely focused on Micheal Lee. I loved Mike Lee but c’mon man. 🤦♀️

What is it something like 40 years these two have been standing side-by-side on stages around the world rocking the fuck out? Most marriages don't last that long! That's quite impressive. And if they were to get back together tomorrow, they would sound just as good.
Haha at this stage (1998) its been more like 30 with a 15 year gap in the middle, and while i approve of your enthusiasm Page has barley touched a guitar in the last 10 years which does not bode well and while i still think Plant sounds great i think he would have alot of trouble singing a full 2-hour set of rocking Zep tunes these days... They could prob do a more stipped back semi - acoustic show like the 94/95 shows though... :)

Been a Zeppelin fan since 69. Appreciate people posting videos but a lot are like this one. Video and audio quality are maybe a 6 out of 10. Plenty of videos of higher quality out there.
Perhaps, but sometimes I like to see, hear and feel the raw energy of that crowd. This video catches all of that.

I cant understand why plant has so much trouble over the last 20 years of playing with Jimmy I cant understand it when these guys are together just awesome. People go nuts when Jimmy Page and Robert Plant our together
I honestly don't think it has anything to do with how Plant feels about Page (or Jones, for that matter). I think it's the fact that playing those songs with those guys brings him too close to the memories of being in Led Zeppelin, which brings up all the pain and the sadness he still feels about losing his best friend, John Bonham.

I have heard the main reason is that Plant sold his 20% of zeppelin during his divorce, rumor has it that Page bought it, therefore Robert receives no royalties from the original Zeppelin catalog, this is the main sticking point, assuming Plant wants his 20% back in trade to do a zeppelin tour, so if this is correct, it’s Pages fault that no Zeppelin tour has come about
Obviously it’s very complicated financial and personal reasons that none of us could ever understand
@@jb6963 well years ago when Atlantic records president died they did that one big concert in London and Page told plant that if we go on tour I'll give you 250 million. I can't believe he let that go or he could have got his 20% back either one would have been fine the plant. None of it adds up
Why they didn’t have a professional crew video this for posterity is beyond me! Iconic band and fans singing to every lyric? Special event escaped fans of iconic music! The fans got it!

Unfortunately I was born a few weeks after Bonham’s death… however I was 17 years old living in Portland, Oregon when this last Page/Plant tour came through… even then at 17 I knew that these two guys were legends, but it wasn’t until many many years later that I realized how incredibly lucky I was to actually be in a room with these two Gods. In my opinion James Patrick Page is up there with Mozart and Beethoven, and will be held in the same light by people 200 years from now…
How they can leave the audience knowing they have been in the presence of greatness yet not having played their two masterpieces; STH and Kashmir.....no other act could ever hope to get away with that. (I know Jimmy played the intro to STH at the end of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You). That's because every Zeppelin song was a work of genius.
Kashmir was played on the 95 tour with the Egyptian orchestra. Jimmy teases Stairway at the end of Babe I'm Gonba Leave You.

With Jason yes but I digress because Plant was in far better voice in 98 than 2007 as a matter of fact not even close. Saw Zep two times in 75 and 77 and this was every bit as good IMO.
Nope i personally prefer Michael lee at Jason and page was better in 98 than in 2007 . Led zeppelin should have reform in 1998 or 1999.
