      Yea he played his ass off with PnP! He wasn't a Bonham copycat which is what alot of people expected, and probably wanted to some extent, but instead he was a whole different animal. A hell of a drummer in his own right doing a great job of filling some impossible to fill shoes! He never got the credit he deserves in my opinion. If he is mentioned its usually just to compare him to John Bonham which is about as unfair as it gets. I always thought he was awesome and brought alot of energy as well, Page is at his best when being pushed and pulled around by a great drummer!

    This is easily the best Jimmy played since about 1973. I think he was ticked off that some guitarists and fans thought he was all washed up. Man he plays with soul here. He rocks!

    • @bishlap
      @bishlap 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      agreed, after zep his skills went south for a long time (for many reasons) on this tour he got much of his talent back and hasn't played as well since. Anyone that saw Zep in the 70's should count themselves lucky as there will never be anything like that again.

      That is a true statement. He is really shot out of a cannon as the show begins. The small problem is he's busier than Bonham, and when your bandmates are Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, given a choice, sometimes it's okay to play it straight rather than fill up any nanosecond that's empty. For example, good things tended to happen in the brief time that Buddy Miles played with Hendrix, as opposed to the busier Mitch Mitchell. That comment aside, I'm loving all these Page/Plant videos from the mid-90s resurfacing, and, given that Page and Plant are middle aged on those tours, having a powerhouse drummer to provide extra energy isn't all bad, either.

    Hi. I had a small music shop. I used to sell cassettes. I'm 53 now. They were the most important famous people I met in my life. They were so normal, sincere and gentlemen. No complimants or anything. We talked for about 20-25 minutes and drank tea with Robert.After the concert was finished I tried to learn where do they would stay in.Next day I waited by the hotel.When Robert went out I kissed him and hugged him. He Asked me about the previous day's concert performance.I said time passed so fast like a dream. I said I came about 1000 km from my town to İstanbul for the concert he said please drive carrefully. I took LZ 3 LP and they signed the LP's.While I was waiting for Jimmy, he was shopping at a peddler who sold cheap imitation watches near the hotel street. I talked to him for 5-6 minutes. He was also gentleman, sincere like a normal person. I loved them more because they are the most important band of history (according to me) and so normal people like a teacher or friends. Sorry for my poor english. LZ is the most honorable band of history because when Bonzo died, they finished Led Zeppelin in the most popular period. They could find another drummer but they didn't choose this way because some things are more important than money. I am proud of myself to meet these priceless people I met.Thank god for creating Led Zeppelin and Ahmet Ertegün (the Turkih Manager who discovered them) Hope they will live long and happily I wrote this in about 30-40 minutes. Bye.

      Please no need to apologize for your English! It's great and it's your 2nd language be proud of yourself and keep moving forward using it as much as you can, it's the best way to get better at it, but I'm already impressed with what I see here! I wish I could kiss your hand and huge you like you got to huge Robert and Jimmy! What a honor and a chance of a life time, I'm so jealous of your opportunity! I've noticed in my many yrs of being a fan, that they are much more approachable these days than before when they were young. The older they got the more they appreciated us fans and that we never meant to hurt them or take their privacy away, only to thank them on how much their music truly meant to us! Even though I'm a straight man and been this way for my whole life i still love Robert and think he is still the sexist man a live! You are so lucky meeting them both, I can't get over that fact! Thanks for sharing your fantastic story!

    I need an IV of this. Could listen to this 24/7. The power and magic between Page and Plant brings to us true Zep fans, continual, deeply felt climatic highs and lows that resonate every cell in our minds and bodies. The majestic beauty these two (and Led Zep) were blessed so much to a point as a foursome, I can't imagine any other band could ever achieve the innate talents that the four Led Zep achieved, and rock out, and collapsed into bliss, every stadium they ever stepped foot on. Awesome job by Michael Lee! Nice job by Philip Andrews too.

    A lot of comments on here about Jimmy's playing. Not only could he write songs, he played with attitude and had a variety of styles which is more than 99% of guitarists can say. Sloppy? It's a matter of perspective, who wants to listen to those guys who just play scales fast and flawlessly? No thanks. Page is the best guitarist in history - my opinion - shut up if you don't like it.

      The intro is from a song of the legend Um Kalthoum of Egypt .. the song called the Sacred Trilogy composed by the great musician Riyadh Al Sonbaty .. the whole thing and to see Led Zeppelin my favorite band ever using it as the intro just makes me so proud to be Egyptian

    Wow what a effing awesome show! I saw the epic show they did in 95' at the Gorge, it was so surreal for me and so lucky to be there! Now this show was maybe just a little better? Only for the fact of the songs they choose, hearing Jimmy play Heartbreaker was over the top and showed just how damn good his still was then! The O2 show was great and let them go out on a high note for sure! Im so glad they hooked up for these few years to prove to the world why they were the mighty Zeppelin Machine who still had it! Although tacky they didnt give Joney the call to come and play but understand too that the bass player is Roberts son in-law, so what do you do? Plus we dont have a clue to the real truth to what happened! I know one thing, they aced this show and able to watch it anytime! Thank you so much for posting this bit of history! No matter how old i make it to ill aiways be able to recognize and enjoy the mighty Zeppelin! Unfortunately alzheimers runs in my family and i can only hope that if i get it like dad had it ill be able to use Zeppelin to bring me to the surface of reality and just hearing any Zeppelin will be that key to open my conscience to give me the perhaps only joy i will still get to a point! The last couple of yrs dad couldnt communicate only stare into the blank world he lived in. Truly sad for such a wonderful giving and loving father, husband and grandpa the last thing mom and dad deserved was to live those last yrs so out of touch useless to do anything for himself! Lets hope they make some advantances in making the quality of life worth living within the next 10 - 15 yrs before i get to that age that when he first got it! Fingers crossed and doing everything i can to keep challenging my mind, im a artist and inventor with more hobbies than ill ever get a chance to master, i set myself up with on purpose tons of things to do so i just dont sit on my ass watching tv cuz the rest of my body is in grest shape! Many victoms of Alzheimers in their later stages will "temporarally wake up" from there mental jail cell when stimulated with music and art. Im also going to try to find some victim group to give my assistance to others that are lost already, just to see if i can find anything that keeps it at bay. I want to be proactive and anything i can do to help the next person that gets it better off than the other person! If anybody tgat reads this has anything on this miserable and evil life stealer please reach out to me! Ive retired at 62 just so i dont short myself of any good time i have left to live with my mind in a good place! Thank you! Zeppelin forever!
