I made the peppermint trousers last year. I made a right mess of the fly! I must try again. Also , a good free cardigan pattern on Sinclair patterns.lots of length options
Thanks Becky, love that long line cardigan. The Peppermint pants are on my list too, so versatile. Go for the pink corduroy fabric, that colour really suits you 😊
I am a relative beginner Bec and so appreciate your tips on the Pomegranate skirt. I have that pattern and had thought of pairing it with a heavier fabric but maybe that's why I've never been drawn to skirts since I have a larger body. I think now I'll try it with a viscose and see how I feel about wearing a skirt. I do have Mary Ellen's press which I use for quilting so might try that. Thanks. xx Karen
I’m pleased this tip helped, the starch spray will make it so much easier to work with, also when your sewing, if you have a walking foot that will help. X
I did the sew frugal last year. I really loved the challenge and made the best fitting dress I have ever made. I did the tea dress from sew mag website ❤
Thank you for the video! You've sold me on the bias cut dress! I'll check it out and see if I have something with enough drape, otherwise I'll keep it for the next Dutch fabric fair❤
Good advice on Munro! I’ve just thrown that pattern away and the boat neck because of the arms. I said I’d never try again but maybe I need to do the armholes widening!
Great choices for basics in your wardrobe! One note, I have made one garment from Unfettered Patterns and their instructions are extremely limited. I would say you need some sewing experience to use them, but with the knit cardigan, it would probably go well. Happy sewing! 💖
Thank you, yeah I am not too worried about the instructions, as I don’t tend to follow them 🙈 however when I review I will note this because most people are good and follow them 😂 x
I’ve been on the lookout for a free, bias cut dress for a wedding we are attending in May. There’s a viscose twill in my stash that would be perfect. Thanks so much!
Really enjoyed this and will look at some of the links. I particularly like the cardigan. I also have plans to make the Little Pomegranite skirt for the summer. My advice with the Tessuti monroe turtleneck is to use a very stretchy material. I tried making it in a french terry and it didn't work. Fortunately I only made the neck collar, tried it on and couldn't get it over my head (which is small!) Next time I will use a knit with much more stretch.
great job! I’ve made the wide leg pants out of twill and love them. They are a jean style pant. They are quite wide and cropped. I’ve also made the Sabina skirt and love that pattern also!
Oooh I like your Sabina with the cardi. Good look. I have made it and I don’t like mine I feel swamped in it. Maybe I should try a different fabric. I’m not sure if it was my pattern but I found the pocket notches missing. I worked it out but they were missing.
Yeah, it took me a while to decide if I liked it and certainly playing with styling, shorten it slight, that might work, also maybe eliminate the pockets, use the back twice it would remove some of the bulk x
💋💋absolutely love your 💄 lipstick colour, could you tell me what it is please? I think we have the same colour season, have you had your colours done? Are you a winter? you choose amazing fabrics!! Another fabulous video, thank you
Hi - thank you lovely. My lipstick is this one: amzn.eu/d/ixxeEir I haven’t had my colours done, I do choose winter colours though because it’s those colours I feel best in. 😀 x
I have made the Hannah slip dress by Mood Fabrics-- their instructions are usually a little lackluster, but this one was relatively ok. The bias cut is hard to do, but not impossible, for a beginner like me. I do recommend that beginners stick to cotton voile and not something slippery for this one-- I had an AWFUL time with the silk I chose, and I completely ruined it IMO. Also, the straps aren't adjustable, so make sure you pin and mark where to cut them for your personal preference.
@@whatbecsews Might be a good idea to do that. If you're using a floppy fabric, tack it down a bit more than the directions say to-- I tried to also sew the facing by stitching in the ditch down the side seams (mine didn't match, so it made it worse, but in theory it should work).

Honestly just widen the arms and make sure it’s a stretchy fabric - viscose jersey works well and they are really lovely. Quick sews too 😊 x
Great choices & loved the Hana dress & Peppermint trouser’s & definitely want to make the cardigan. Thank you for sharing.😊
Thank you x
A lovely selection of patterns, thank you!
Thank you x

I agree the more stretch the better, I widened the arm holes though just to make that more comfortable x
Loved all the suggestions Bec, but really loved what you were wearing! That colour looks fantastic on you! What was the pattern of the jumper please?
Ahhh thank you, that was the stella hoodie from Tilly and the buttons book called Stretch x
great job! I’ve made the wide leg pants out of twill and love them. They are a jean style pant. They are quite wide and cropped. I’ve also made the Sabina skirt and love that pattern also!

Where can we find the Ella Louise skirt pattern?
