A lot of sewing pattern companies do draft for different body types. I remember reading that Sewaholic and Deer and Doe draft for a pear shape. That could be why your Sirocco jumpsuit fits so well! I remember reading a list with all different body types online somewhere, but I can't find it! I think probably the best thing is to find pattern companies that tend to work for you and stick with them. If you can. I'd be curious to hear how the patterns work, when you enter your measurements and they give you the pattern pieces. I have to try that out sometime, for sure!
I hadn't head of sewaholic so I will check them out. I didn't know anyone really drafted for pears so this is brilliant news! I'll need to check out deer and doe again. I do love the sirocco jumpsuit. The lekala dress is on my to do list. Hopefully April time.
I’ve made many, many pants, but my favorite pants by far was a Simplicity pattern I made in the ‘80s and 90’s that had pleats in the front that were extended to form the waist. They were so easy to fit! Sew up the pants, put them on inside out, then adjust the depth of the pleat/dart to perfectly fit your waist, sew, turn at your waist and tack down. The waist size and height were perfect!
I recommend Google as then you can then save all your patterns to Google Drive. I am chaotic in nature but saving all the pdfs to google drive has saved me so much hassle
I really love that your pattern selection includes so much opportunity for customization. I have yet to find a bodice that really works with my figure.
It is so frustrating isn't it! I am glad I at least I now know I have a super short Torso. Means I know what so many yoga poses have always been impossible for me as well.
On lekala in addition to your measurements you can also choose options such as short torso ( waist height: high). But I generally I find the regular torso is not too long there. However not all their patterns have the same sort of fit. Throughout the years they changed their design methods several times it seems.
I did not know that! Thank you! Having a recently discovered short torso has really killed my sewing mojo. I just hate having to do so many pattern edits before getting to be the fun part!
This is amazing! I love that as an upcycle. Coach leather isn’t the thickest so you might even get away with using your sewing machine if it’s heavy duty enough. There are loads of leather channels.
Hi I’m a new follower and loved this! I’m very inspired by these dresses (although looking at the date today, don’t have much time if I want to join the challenge!!) Thank you ❤
I love all your dresses. I really like the last fabric you showed, the floral. Since you knit and crochet, what about making an icord to use instead of the rope? I think that would be really cool on the one with the rope straps.
I am going to try out the Orchard dress with the big floral as that is what won the poll on TikTok (and I have it printed on A0 and the other one Id have to stick together) but I do want to try it. Id have never thought about Icord but that is such a brilliant idea. God knows i Have enough yarn!
Love all your ideas. But REALLY would like to see the nautical dress because it’s so you and then the dolman sleeve dress would be my next choice. Attention span of a Nat huh… I refer to it as getting distracted by shiny things! Great vlog Steph with lots of good ideas. I am also a knitter so I get your need to engage in that during the winter. Have a great week and see you next time 😎
Glad you enjoyed watching! I have no printed the natuical dress and I even think I might have some rope kicking around of the boxes in my craft room. I am going to make a matching shorts romper for my son as well. Going to twin all summer :)
It just looks so comfy! I'm glad to hear its actually a good dress. Sewing magazine dresses don't seem to get as much traction on youtube and social media, not when compared to popular indie dresses.
I love dress 1 and petal sleeves.

Several patterns I never heard of before! The lekala one is very interesting mostly since we can make it out of our measurements!
Thank you!
I can't wait to try it and see if it just works straight off the bat!
Thanks for all the inspiration Steph some lovely ideas. I feel your excitement for the nautical dress ⚓️⚓️
Thank you! Can't beat a good nautical theme!
Great suggestions- hadn’t thought about fabric belts either, definitely a plan for the future. Thank you
Crazy isn't it as clothes in the shops come with belts. I can't wait to try them out.

They sound so easy to fit. I wonder if simplicity will do a reproduction.
A separate email address for sewing is a great idea.

Thank you for taking part! I’m loving the nautical dress…reminds me of me of the Tabitha dress by Tilly and the Buttons!
Always love to have a free dupe! Why pay when you can get something similar for free!

Yes, I want to learn how to sew belts and totes and purses out of leather. I cut the leather off a couch!

Still plenty of time! I think I’m going to try for a 3rd entry this year. A quick make.
