    She wrote this song about the war in Ireland. It was between Protestants ans the Catholics. After a couple of young boys were killed, she wrote this and then the war ended. )Condensed version)

      The war was just the end of 700 years of the Brits shitting on and oppressing the Irish - the troubles from 1969 to the 90’s, being the Northern Ireland chapter. While cast as starting between Catholic vs Protestant, when the British Army deployed to Belfast, they seemed only to want to kill the Catholics. They have that history.

    Her style of singing is called "keening" and you'll hear a lot of Irish singers using this technique. The song itself came about as the band was traveling promoting their album. A bomb went off in Northern Ireland, and 2 young children got killed. (During that time it was called "The Troubles' and there was much violence between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.) One of the young boys was on his way to buy a birthday card for him mom when the bomb went off. Delores and the band felt they needed to speak out. When the song came out, those in both the Irelands also were tired of the senseless violence ....
    Delores died in 2017. I miss her. She was such an incredible singer.

    • @reactionsforyou807
      @reactionsforyou807 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty sure keening, is what she is doing when she is doing at the end of chorus.
      She is not keening through entire song

    So glad you listened to this one. The lyrics are about the lead singer seeing the aftermath of an IRA bombing that killed a child and her dismay at the violence related to the struggle to end oppression of the Irish Catholics. U2’s Bloody Sunday is also about strife and violence and one particular day in 1972 in Northern Ireland when British soldiers shot unarmed people during a protest march.

    The word “zombie” in the song's title is used as a metaphor to describe the dehumanising effects of war and violence on individuals and communities. The song was originally to be titled 'In Your Head', but then became revised to 'Zombie' after being a part of their live tour.Aug 4, 2023

    I watch many of these reaction videos and often many full into the same trap of talking too much over the song, not really listening to the lyrics but getting carried away with the melody and pausing in all the wrong places. Finally, who ever requested this should state whether to watch the music video or live version...
