In 1995, I worked for a catering company that catered events for Bill Graham Productions events in California. We were catering for the Cranberries concert at the Berkeley Community Theater, and my boss told me "the lead singer is asking for a vegan meal. Can you make her some lentils?" Lentils are something I knew I made really well, thankfully. I made sure to season them with a touch of Indian spices, and added fresh tomato, onion, garlic, olive oil...anyway, about an hour later, a tiny lady appeared at the entrance of our dungeon-like, dark kitchen deep within the windowless depths of the Theater. She asked "who made the lentils?" I raised my hand up and she said "thanks very much. They are delicious!" I was so happy and on such a high from that. I think of it everytime I hear them😌

I managed to score a ticket to see The Cranberries at The Albert Hall in London.. just amazing. Somehow i found myself at the front and sang my soul out to Dolores. At the time I was working as a motocycle courier and a couple of days later I was waiting outside MTV studios. A car pulled up and Dolores got out.. i said "hello Dolores," she turned around to me and turned back. Then she turned back to me,pointed at me and said "you".. And her smile.. so beautiful.. miss you.

You gotta respect the bandmates for letting the band name rest with her and not attempt to milk it after her passing without her like a lot of bands have tried.

Wow I didn’t even know she passed. I missed a lot of events in pop culture during my military career (US Army 1995-2019) feels like everyday I find out about a song, movie, game, etc., thats 10-15years old that I never knew existed. Same with celebrity deaths…it fees like I’m constantly hearing about someone who died and I had no clue.

I'm a child of the 90's and from the moment I heard the Cranberries I fell in love with the band! There sound is very unique and Dolores had such an amazing voice! It's always sad to hear about the death of anyone so young however I had to take a moment of silence with the passing of Dolores O'Riordan and Robin Williams! Free to Decide and Zombie always made me think about bigger issues growing up and I feel like they will always be relevant. Recently, the song Zombie came into my thoughts when I was watching a news update about the war in Ukraine, which is also very sad! It's truly an amazing song when almost anyone can relate and it brings up such strong emotions! I hope her family is doing well and has some peace since her passing, she will be missed by so many!

I was always a metal head, but when the Cranberries came on the scene, I was hooked. And being from the north of Ireland, Zombie perfectly summed up the feelings and experiences I had growing up throughout the 'troubles' (it was a war).... I was living in England at the time those bombs were going off, and I hate to say it, but I was cold-shouldered by a few people, just because of my nationality. Rest in peace, sweet Dolores. I'm sorry you left before your time.

But 35 years in trauma I've learned the hard way, with greatness you pay a price especially in the music business. At one point that weekend I looked out my window & there was Dolores preparing for an interview, so I said "I love you Dolores" & she replied " I love you too". As a 19 year old kid living on sight of the fest that weekend was filled with numerous unforgettable memories, but that moment was by far the highlight.

So sad. She had a cottage near me in Ontario, Canada. My brother delivered furniture to her with me and she played the piano for us and she had one of her kids there. She was so polite and generous. I've been a fan from the start. She was so talented and had her own style which she never wavered from. She fought to make sure she would be heard. With all that she went through I believe she didn't kill herself on purpose. She just wanted to relax and zone out and clear her head. Bi-polar disorder is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Having 2 children to care for in a very busy lifestyle breaks my heart for her. The stress she had to endure must have been debilitating. She is missed. RiP Dolores.

I was living near Belfast when Zombie was released. The troubles were tiring people out and nobody wanted it to continue except the gangsters making money from it and those indoctrinated into the paramilitaries, who had lost loved ones and were still hell bent on revenge. What made this stand out was that it was like a breath of fresh air, giving the regular folks in Northern Ireland a song they could relate to. A song that predicated the signing of the peace treaty. The people didn't want it anymore and this song reflected it perfectly. Everyone I knew would talk about the song, sing the song and when it came on MTV it was always a blessing.

Well covered sir! I'm from Northern Ireland. Zombie was a massive hit when it was released because it spoke of the horror of the Troubles and united kids from both NI and the Republic of Ireland. The band crashed onto the scene with a bang. I was studying performing arts at the time, and they were everywhere. A massive influence on all of us, even the metal heads. They proved that Irish bands really could make something of themselves and that Irishness no longer represented a roadblock to success. Long live Dolores' memory.
