This is the absolute best 5th gen oil change video that I have seen. Please do other videos! Transmission fluid change would be awesome!
Finally a video with clearly labeled parts, tools, and bolts. Thank you.
quick, to-the-point no BS explanation. I have already changed my new 4R oil once before but wanted a refresher before doing it again today. thank you
Your vid is the absolute best 4Runner oil change vid. Soo many poor ones out there from some big channels.
Just the steps and the facts, no unnecessary fluff to lengthen the video. Please do more 4runner videos. Diff fluid, radiator flush, trans fluid:)
As others have mentioned, finally a video which clearly shows and numbers the skid plate fasteners. Outstanding! Thank you!
Watched 5 to 6 different 5th gen 4runner oil change videos and this one was by far the most clear, concise, accurate video. Perfect for extreme OCD people like me!
Thanks for this video. Possibly the best I've seen.
Recently purchased a 2012 SR5 and changed mine for the first time yesterday. Wasn’t too difficult except that I could not remove the skid plate completely so I just left it hanging and had to struggle to get to the filter from the behind the passenger side tire area. I was dreading the potential that the filter would be overnighted but it wasn’t so no issue there. I did notice that there wasn’t a washer on the drain plug of the oil pan so I added a blue nylon washer to be on the safe side. I 100% agree about the difficulty of checking the dip stick. It was already difficult with used oil (around 2k miles on what I changed) but was almost impossible to tell with fresh oil. I finished a little after dark and like you, I had to recheck this morning.
Maybe I’ll have better luck with the skid plate next time. I plan to do it again in 2k miles as this was just to flush the oil that was in it when I purchased it since I wasn’t sure what the dealer was running in it. I had just enough Kirkland oil to use for this change but plan to go to Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage since I’m at 108k miles. At 110k my plan is to change every 5k so the nice round numbers will help remind me.😊
perfect explanation video. No extra nonsense about metal filter housings.
Yeah, this is the first 4 runner oil change where they didn’t want to switch out the plastic filter housing. Great video.
Good video. One thing to note: the special nipple adapter that drains the filter cartridge will remove the small o-ring automatically when you remove the nipple.
Great video..Thank you for showing how to change the oil for the 5th Gen. 4runner..
WOW. Absolutely BEST oil change vid on the 4runner. Thank you so much.
I’m in a red pro….but man…this trim look so goood!
Very informative. I wish I'd see your video first and place the rubber ring in the right place from the first time.
Thank you!
Outstanding instructional video, thank you
This is a fantastic tutorial!
Thae best ever tutorial! Very detailed. Thanks for putting a lot of work into this video. Helped me a lot! Keep them coming!
Perfect! Well done brother.
Thanks so much for the torque specs
The best video. Thank you so very much.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks!
thank you for clear stable video
Super helpful vid!
Thanks this was really easy to follow
Wow, this is the best tutorial on 4Runner oil change and re-set. Congrats.
Great video, thank you!
very informative and to the point
Always great videos.
Thanks Joe!
Thank you
It's already been said by others, but VERY nicely done! Many thanks for this video.
very helpful
Gracias muy bien explicado
Excellent video. Thank you so much. Question. 64mm oil wrench… where did you get yours ?
Great tutorial 👍🏽 but how do you reset the dash on a 2018 runner?
just a little heads up but what you're calling the oil ratchet wrench is actually a breaker bar and it meant to break bolts that are torqued high like tire lugnuts. i don't suggest using it to tighten a nut or bolt but using a torque wrench or a regular ratchet.
Easiest tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you. But did you only jack the passenger side?
No crush washer on drain bolt?
Do you have a video on transmission fluid change for the 5th gen 4runner? Can you do one in case you don't have one?
When did you do the 1st oil change? I noticed you have a little over 5k on the obo
So how do you know exactly how much torque is being added when tightening?
If I don't do any off road driving, I am wondering if it's best to just remove the skid plate and not put it back on? I also do oil changes very frequently like every 3K miles so it will save me some time.
What about that clip on the oil filter housing? I think that locks the housing down. Is this correct?
Sir we're can I purchase the radiator botttom push clips
I wish I saw this video first..
Is perfect but I’m only used 6 q oil never more
Skid plate was the hardest part…… question did you have much metal….my 23. At 700 km I had lots of metal.
The foremost front skid is 2, 10mm bolt using 10mm socket and clip, just to mention
2:23
Laying on the floor in my garage as I’m typing this and just discovered this too. 12mm is too big for the first 2 bolts on skid plate. 2024 SR5 premium here
It would be nice if Toyota put a big enough opening to get to the oil filter too without having to take that monster off every time
Don't forget to install a new crush washer on the oil pan drain plug!
I’ve always reused the washer it comes with without any leaks
Just one thing
You didn't mention replacing the crush washer. Other then that, excellent video. One more thing, I have a TRD skid plate. Pretty heavy, two people may be needed.
He doesn’t have to change it. The fumoto valve stays always on
Forgot to mention the crush washer for the oil plug.
Did you remove the air dam in front prior? My 23 Limited has the air dam that makes removing the push clip a pain. The push clip is under the air dam but your video doesnt show it. Is it an exclusive thing for just limiteds?
Yes, it is limited exclusive also sr5 sports. They both have front bumpers that drop low so need air dams.
Baxter adapter, after market skid plate and Fumoto valve. The factory design is overly complicated and the plastic filter housing will crack when over torqued by the dealership. Do yourself a favor.
Toyotas are a pain.
