It's a good thing we have TH-cam to be able to look back and remember the days when the Grand Ole Opry played REAL country music. Sadly, these are days long gone.

This is true country music. All of the Smokey Mountain Boys were masters of their craft.
Roy Acuff represented country music with class. Oswald needs to be in the hall of fame.

This film is from February 4, 1967 according to what number Hal Durham announces that it is (#2143) - the beginning of the Grand Ole Opry for that night. THIS IS THE REAL OPRY!!! Roy was and is my hero - he had such a great band - I can see the Nelson Brothers are with him in the band here, Howard Forrester ont he fiddle, Brother Oswald on banjo, Jimmie Riddle on the piano, Harold Weakley on the snare drum. Oh what a wonderful film - love to have the whole film!!!!

That's Jackie Phelps, behind Roy, on the Guitar. He was the ephinnin partner of Jimmie Riddle,on Hee Haw. Jackie, backed Stringbean,up on the Guitar, also. He was kind of a Opry back-up musician, since the 1950's.

Oh, wow! This is the REAL deal, from the Ryman, and, as ArkRed said, as it was supposed to be played.
