Great video! Thanks for sharing. Back in the mid-70s my dad took up the Dobro and spent many hours listening to Oswald's albums, trying to learn his songs. There was one particular lick Oz played in End of the World that dad couldn't for the life of him figure out. About this time he heard that Oz and his partner Charlie Collins were playing daily in Opryland park, so on a moment's notice he told my mom that they were headed to Nashville so he could go to the source and learn that lick. The trip came in at around $700.00, and to this day dad calls that his $700.00 lick. He became great friends with Oz and Charlie, promoting several shows for them to headline where we were living in suburban Chicago and later when we moved back to Minnesota, and those two incredible performers became a big part of my childhood.
WSN Grand Old Opry was the on Dad's car radio while we rode home from the stock car races in Anderson Indiana back in the 60's. Sure do miss Dad and those good times.
I,ll be 80 yrs.old my next birthday and these are the kind of folks I listened to growin up!!grandpaw managed to get a battery powered radio and we listened to the opery ever sat, night.we finally got electric on the farm and we got an electric radio and didn't have to worry about runnin down the battery. excuse my typin ,I have to hunt and peck to try and post somethin!!
+vernon henery, I'm in my early 50's, and I grew up on Roy Acuff, Oswald, and Announcer -Grant Turner. I'd listen to them every Sat. nite live, til Grant died, and Roy died,in the early 1990s. Got to see them as a kid at the Ryman Opry Show-1970. It was Hot-Temp,in there, too. Met Oswald in 1996,at Opry Birthday, got pic with him.
I grew up on Grant, Roy and Bashful Brother Oswald. Absolutely love them. I sure do miss them. The Opry is just not the same without them !!!
God Bless who ever found this and put on youtube.
This video is great. In my opinion Grant Turner was the best announcer in the history of the Grand Ole Opry.
Very true. The pride of the early ones of the opry is long gone. Country music has lost its country
I never heard of Oswald until a couple of months ago. I can't stop listening to him now!
Brother Oswald was great on a banjo and the best dobro picker that ever lived. Great post.

Man, Brother Oswald was a pistol
I didn´t know Roy played the Uke and he´s got a nice strum on it too.
Roy was very talented. One of my all-time favorites
There was no finer version of "Columbia Stockade Blues" than Bashful Brother Oswald 's all others pale in comparison.
