Gabby is right though on this one. Unai's son plays for Villa reserves, the club have invested heavily in Unai's club back in Spain, they have let him have control of every aspect of the team and have paid him handsomely. Also Unai doesn't seem like a money merchant and actually has loyalty. Hes not going anywhere.

    I am a Villa fan.
Honestly Man United atm top to bottom has a complete lack of direction, commitment and leadership, just trying to squeeze a cash cow.
I am not saying Villa don’t have problems, but compared to United, anyone who goes there at present, it’s just career suicide!!
And I think that’s the case with several other “giants” of European football atm, going out spending big on names, and not necessarily investing in the academy’s upwards to first teams. And now they are seeing the effects on and off the pitch for that lack of vision and investment where it’s going to take years to recover to where they were!
I think given the opportunity that Emery had been given now and the talent and skills in his style with the squad recruitment, he could go and do a Ron Saunders again for us in the next 5 years!!

Think about it too he’ll be remembered for years to come and people will talk about how great he is if he can get Villa to win a big trophy. Even If he wins trophies at United he will just be another manager who isn’t as good as Ferguson he won’t be celebrated to anywhere near the same level.

And about whether he can work with the personell in the squad. Can they play his system, will they work hard and listen, are they good enough. Utd couldn't gurantee him the environment to thrive in.

No Gabbys right, Utd is a shambles, he would be set up to fail, and has learnt his lesson about needing the right conditions and control in place when taking on a job. He wouldn't have control of signings, your players would get all egotistical and not work hard to learn and apply the tactics, he would get inconsistent results, your fans would get on top of him, and it would turn into Arsenal all over again.
Utd don't need 1 great manager, they need an overhaul of their culture. And Emerys brand of football requires alot of control and total buy in.

It would be a nightmare for him. He has made Villa a good team and they play very well. Villa player are prepared to work hard for the team and the club, Man U players can't be bothered. Man U will have to do what Chelsea did and bin 70% of the players and buy in new ones otherwise they will continue to be up and down. Chelsea made mistakes with several players who on top form at other clubs since leaving, but Chelsea owners have a plan (not convinced it was totally thought through) to start with very young players. Man U just need to get rid of the deadwood and get in new players with a better attitude, they don't have to be very young.
