No Philly fan. She should not be a cop
If the phrase starts with she, you can just end the argument right there. Pregnant or just existing. Women should not be in positions where they have to fight men
      Or carry men
Or fight alongside men in a stressful situation
Women are known to freeze, shut down or run away. Men continue forging forward

@@lanceknuth5300 Yeah, the selection process is definitely flawed and far less people are interested in doing that work because it’s become fashionable to prosecute officers who make mistakes under duress. That said, most of the high profile incidents that spawned the anti-cop environment could have been avoided with quality ongoing training. Currently, law-enforcement administrators who are tasked with providing training to their subordinates are mostly concerned with collecting training documentation for the purposes of insulating themselves from liability. Consequently, the legitimacy of the training and the training providers typically aren’t even considered. Until the administrative staff of each agency is held accountable for this kind of carelessness officers will continue to make critical errors that sometimes produce tragic consequences. Even if a given agency must select from a substandard pool of candidates, proper, ongoing training will yield a much better result.

Purple belt here. 5+ years ago I had to help a female officer take a resisting subject into custody. Very similar to this - she was all alone, we were in the middle of a road rolling around, the guy was aggressive and didn't want to quit, and the female officer got one cuff on and we couldn't get his second arm secured, and I quickly realized we had given the guy a weapon (an open handcuff is dangerous). I went two on one and could hold one of his arms myself, but she didn't have the strength to do the same with the other arm. After a while my forearms started seizing up and I resorted to yelling at the female officer to just get on the radio instead of trying to handcuff him and I opted to just pin the guy down and wait for backup to arrive. I thought I was tough but realized after that experience that I was anything but. I signed up for jiu jitsu the next week and haven't stopped since.

100% right. The police lack training required to control someone physically. This female officer made the situation extremely dangerous by even coming near the suspect with a weapon (that he almost grabbed) and then pointing her weapon directly at the man helping her to control the suspect. It was an absolutely disastrous situation where she was not only completely ineffective but dangerously detrimental to the safety of those performing the policing duties that she was clearly unable to execute. Women police officers are not a good idea but a pregnant police officer is just recklessly endangering her unborn child.

They get a few hours a year of training, and it's in a classroom with dozens of people and no one is paying attention. The ones who take it seriously have to seek out their own training and pay for it out of pocket. I know this cuz there's a couple of cops who go to my BJJ gym because they felt scared with just the training they were provided.

The officer and her chief needs to be fired. Many lives were put in danger. She failed to act. Her chief allowed her to work in her condition which put her and the public at risk. Pregnant and work in that role is not proving anything. I've worked with females like that. All they want to say is "I did it while pregnant". She is a liability and a waist of tax dollars. She was scared also. Her language to a person in a crisis did not help the situation. If she wants to do this job, she needs crisis intervention training along with control tactics. Someone please help her or encourage her to quit. The more I watch this, I want to file a complaint with that city. This was a horrible police performance. I bet her department complimented her. I'm calling for the chief to resign.

I had a petite partner at the FD that was pregnant. We were not in any dangerous scenarios like that but I used bystanders to help lift patients as she couldn't lift anything. It was a major pain in the ass and they should not allow pregnant women to work in a physical job. Place them on light duty or give them time off.

All the praise for the civilian guy that helped out, but where's the admiration for the PREGNANT WOMAN who put her own life on the line to protect civilians? All these people saying "a pregnant woman shouldn't be on patrol" without knowing if she even WAS on patrol. She might have been on her way home and saw the guy trying to run over the biker, and decided to do her job and save lives. There's also the fact that she chose her TASER, rather than her firearm, which was extremely admirable. Good cop, good Samaritan, psycho in custody. There's a lot to admire here, let's not let sexism ruin it.
