    I have to give Kimber credit for doing a recall. They know it's faulty & most likely have a fix for it, otherwise they wouldn't issue a recall. Give them a chance, as it could really turn out to be a fantastic gun. Only time after the recall will tell. So we'll be watching your channel to see how it shakes out. This only makes it more interesting! Love your take on guns. Keep up the good work.

    Never had a Kimber, but just compare their commendable behaviour to Sig when the P365's firing pins were breaking. Kimber shows professional commitment to their product. If at all, I respect them even more for that.
    Oh, and the 1st 2 iterations of the Glock 42? Same attitude as Sig, never acknowledge, fix quietly.
    I wouldn't bash Kimber at this point. Such things occur, and they are dealing with it well.

    I bought my R7 Mako less than a month ago, but thankfully it's not on the list. I only had to drift the rear sights a tad. I then installed and sighted in an RMSc. Have less than 75 rounds of different kinds of FMJ and HP through it, all without any problems. I find it a comfortable shooters pistol and am very pleased with it. Has the feel, fit and finish, and smooth operation of being well made. Thanks, for the heads up about the recall. I appreciate a company that owns its mistakes. Hope your Mako returns quickly.

I don't know if anyone remembers a recall on the Kimber Solo several years ago. The Solo was a dud and Kimber didn't produce it very long. Sad, I really like their 1911's.

      My point exactly. Those number do not reflect a month or so product run, it's much much larger than that. My Mako was purchased in September of 2021 and there are serial number represented in the recall that are much earlier than mine. Things that make you go hmmmm

    I took my newly purchased Mako r7 for a range test and I absolutely enjoyed the pistol. I had zero issues with this micro 9mm from Kimber, and I actually found it to refreshing, since I have the Hellcat Pro, SIG 365, and S&W CXS micros. The CXS and Mako r7 were my favorites to shoot after objectively comparing and contrasting the fine pistols. The recall for the firing pin issue is indicative of growing pains the Kimber organization is currently experiencing. SIG had issues with the 365, and I am sure S&W will address issues with the CSX, as well. Kimber is a great manufacturer and respected across the playing field. I feel fortunate to have a variety of choices in today's climate because reputable organizations such as Kimber decided to enter into the micro 9 mm space. If the executive leadership over at Kimber did not believe they could produce a high quality micro 9mm polymer pistol, they would not have made the investment. In every crisis there's an opportunity and the visionary leaders at Kimber will excel at providing exemplary customer service.

    @7duke77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the fact that Kimber is responding so quickly and responsibly shows how great a company they are. It sucks they're having the issue, but they're fixing it which is what really matters. They already make outstanding firearms, but this was a new venture for them (first poly gun) so if this is the only issue with it, that speaks volumes imho. I love my Micro 9 and will likely pickup a Mako in the coming month or so.

    • @LWRoad
      @LWRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with all but the serial number list. Mine, as I said before was purchased at the end of September and there are many pistols on that list with lower serial numbers than mine. Why say that the problem was with a batch in 2022 when the problem goes way, way back to some of the first makos made? That's the part that has me scratching my head, it's not adding up.

As an eyeglass wearer who hates hats I get the occasional hot brass on my temple…not with this gun :). Ok, I had to send my Mako back because of the recall, but you said you had to send yours back because of debris getting in the firing pin channel, the first time you sent it back. I really dont know if I want to keep my Mako after I get it back. All my S&W Shields, Sigs, and CZs, have had no problems, and I have had them for years now. I cant CCW a gun that I cant trust. Thats just me. If I have to depend on a CCW gun to save my families life and mine, then I cant gamble on an IFFY gun. It has to function at all cost.

    Will you post an update after getting the pistol returned? And if possible, field strip the pistol and demonstrate the function of the block? Mine isn't on the list, but I've noticed that the firing pin block doesn't function the same way as on other pistols of mine. I haven't had any issues after several hundred rounds, but I'd sure like to see how other R7 Makos look under the hood.

    • @jakethebard
      @jakethebard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quick update:
      I was just fiddling around with my firing pin and the safety block, and I can confirm that while it does operate a little differently than the safety block in my other pistols, it DOES function effectively. All my potential concern was immediately removed the moment I did a little more fiddling with it to fully understand it's function.
      And once again, it shoots absolutely wonderfully. I actually just requalified for my CCW with it and, while CCW qualification is not a difficult shooting test by any stretch of the average shooter's imagination, I was among the most highly scoring shooters in the qualification. My instructor also asked if he could try it out since he hadn't had his hands on one yet, and he loved it as well.

This isn't an excuse it is simply reality. Kimber must be honest, ethical & equitable about things like this to earn our support and hard earned money. I really liked the R7 Mako looks and feel right from the start and was hoping that it would be as reliable as a Glock, Springfield or Sig but my first time out shooting it the trigger stopped working after the 3rd round and had to send it back for warranty repair and when I got it back there was a problem of not being able to pull back the slide with rounds in the magazine due to the breech block not being even with the underside of the slide catching the brass even though they say they tested it with 5 full magazines of ammunition. I wanted to carry this gun and be able to depend my life on it but now I am not so sure.

    If a little debris in the firing pin channel messes it up that much , that should not be. What if you drop it in the dirt, mud, etc. Should we worry about debris in the firing pin channel. I dont think my Glocks have that problem. Just saying. No, I had to send a Kimber Solo back a few years ago, because it was so unreliable. Would not cycle most of the ammo I put in it. It locked up the slide, so when I got the Solo back, I traded it, as I will the Mako now. So, it took 2 times buying a Kimber (for my stupid self to realize) that Im done with Kimber.

    Kimber is known for sacrificing quality for stunning looks, just look at their popular micro 1911 line. Those guns are so shitty, but they look great, so this, doesn’t really surprise me at all.

    • @LWRoad
      @LWRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think those are the worst, my buddy had one as his carry and it wouldn't shoot more than a couple rounds without jamming.

      @@LWRoad I had a buddy as well that had one, we were out having a range day. We warmed up with our full sizes then decided to get practice in with our EDCs. First shot he took * click *. accompanied by a weird little internal rattle. We broke it down and his pin was broken. Imagine if he needed that gun right then
