Yeh, coulda saved you 50 minutes on this one. This Lagiacrus simply cannot die. There's a video somewhere where someone cheated in G-Rank gear and had the monster health shown, it can't go below a certain level.
Just got a Wii U to mod so I've been replaying 3U and I decided to look this up on the last 5 minutes of quest after cutting his tail with the base bone axe lol. Well about time to be hit in the old Dusty trail then. Still feeling pretty good. Didn't do any of his prep I repelled him twice got the rest of the guts and just foraged in quest for enough to make 5 mega pots and caught a couple whitefish lol.
Gen/GenU does something similar with the village quests where the Fated Four invade. However, in those, they only buff up their health by double. You can kill them, it'll just feel like a slog, especially since the breaks and staggers are the normal low rank values but their total health is high rank values. And, similar to the Lagi fight here, you won't be optimally geared unless you do some hub stuff.
Yeah I also tried that. I focus my character in hub first then went back to village to hunt the first encounter with the fated four using high rank gear, glavenus took me 40mins the gammoth is 30 mins and mizutsune and astalos took me 20mins lease.
I remember grind those quest not be able to beat them yet but then I practiced the Dodge style one and I got glavinus’s armor set thru mostly part breaks til I beat them for the first time
Really? Wow, I gave up on Glavenus after him not dying for what felt like a really long time. So he was probably close to limping at that point. Well, me from... when did Generations release? 7 years ago? First of all, *yikes* , second, me from 7 years ago should not have thought that they pulled another Lagiacrus
With 3U they added an additional 80 base defence to your character, presumably to help new players but this is a big part of why lagi (or anything low rank really) doesn't hit as hard as you'd expect.
I've killed the Zinogre in Portable3rd and the Glavenus in GU on the first meetings and it always just acted like you didn't kill them but you got some parts early
I actually tried that a couple weeks ago, his health is gated, as in no matter how much damage you deal, itll always stay just before limping ra'ge so you cannot slay or capture it
I did the same a year ago, same result and was pretty disappointing because I grinded in Port Tanzia which was kinda hard, until I had the rathalos longsword.
I never knew you couldn't kill it. I just thought I couldn't do enough damage with my greatsword to manage it, even if I broke the parts Disappointing, since you can kill things like Zinogre early in P3rd, glavenus in GU, etc
Ah yes, the infamous invincible Lagiacrus. Even with endgame weapons and everything broken, it just won't die or even limp. Also it doesn't hit hard because of the 50 base defense you have in 3U for some reason, it hits much harder in the original Tri.
MH3U was my first MH game ever. The fact that it's the only MH game to have underwater combat alone just makes me feel grateful that my first MH game was one of the most unique ones in the series. + 2 Black dragons: Alatreon AND only game with Dire Miralis, + Jhen Mohran. This game is such a blast.
I remember doing this in MHF2 on the PSP with the Tigrex. Managed to go in no armor and just a LS and take it down in the 20 minute mission you're supposed to hunt PoPo for. I was so young, so many memories.
Because I always knew this, in MHW, I always assumed that the Rathian you meet upon first entrance of the Wildspire Waste also can't be beaten. And then I always heard Newbies saying "Hah, I beat it right on first sight, it was so easy. Did you?" and I was like "No, I didn't". So you know what? I WENT AND BEAT THAT MF ON ANOTHER FILE, FIRST TRY FIRST ENCOUNTER WITHOUT ARMOR!! BOOYAH!! ... Like, I know even that is not that hard, but it still felt good xD

I main axes, and several times though that fight, I ended up moving in sync with it, rolling forward under a jumping swing, doing a side hop dodge at the same time and matched direction. Multiple things just timed so well that when he nearly carted me before going to a new area, my reaction was ‘Oh, so I have to learn to fight myself, okay.’ It just read my playstyle at the time so well that it felt like facing another axe user. Not every blow was with the sword, nor with the axe. So when it winded down, I got carted once, and it had limped off a few times. Couldn’t bring myself to kill what felt like an equal at the time, so I set a trap and captured it. Let it live to fight another time, it might not end the same way in a second round. Then I played great sword for the first time and realized it better matched that than the axe, but still. First impressions.
I remember encountering it and having to run on my first try. Prepped and redid that quest now anytime I play gen or genx I make it a goal to kill the big 4 on that first encounter no matter how painful it is.
Aw, I see. Doing a whole quest to get materials for a weapon pnly to be one short and have to do the while quest again is a common trope amongst the games.
Yeah it's common in MH games, they sometimes stop the damages taken by the monster when specific events happen (ex. Alatreon on 75% hp in world) or huge bosses for a big attack.
While those examples are true, having a monster with just a health gate that never disappears isn't common. I already knew about this one since I got G-rank gear in multiplayer before doing any single player with a character just to test this out. This is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that does something like this.
I tried to do this in MH3 with the bowgun, since it was the only weapon capable of penetrating its hide at that point. And in Tri, it actually did start limping. But it did so after 10-15 minutes, and when it still wasn't dead over 30 minutes in, I concluded it was simply immortal in this quest. 🤷♀
i remember doing something like this in genU. In a village quest i had to do a gathering quest, however in the Quest was the first encounter with Glavenus (who at this point has a LOT of health) who i was suppose to run from, however i just went Unga Bunga and ended up hunting it, managing to kill it and do my gathering with minutes left of the timer, it was a wild experience.
Almost reminds me of the surprise Fated Four in Generations. They each have a quest where they’re invaders and have bloated health, but I’ve beaten all of them. They all were a blast
When I replayed tri on the WiiU, I was hella confused when I did that Quest and didn't encountered the Lagiacrus because I remeber beeing so scared as a child when I played the Wii Version that I almost droped the game comepletely. Maybe it was because the route I took was 1 -> 3 -> 7 -> 8 -> 11 instead of 1 -> 2 -> 5 -> 9 -> 10 -> 11-> but as a child I took the first route too. Idk maybe it was because of cemu
That's actually good detail 👌🏻 it's like they new someone would try and do that. Now, if someone can hack the game and put g rank at the start of the game and see if it still works, I'd love to see that now!
this is actualy only one out of 2 quests where you cant kill the large monster as far as i know. of course people hated that capcom did this at all because it takes all the fun out of the challenge.
I remember an early mission in MH freedom 2 when you encounter a trigrex. Well I used cheats once I finished the game and i tried to beat the tigrex just in case you can get the items early. You can't, I maxed my attack(with 4 slash long sword fatalis was dead) and i couldn't kill it, it was indeed invincible.
That one can be killed its just got massively inflated health, i got Glavenus an Mizutsune on my play through of Generations but couldnt beat Astalos or Gammoth in time
@@sangheilicommander1056 Just means you didn't go on the offensive enough. As the other dude said, the invasive "elite 4" in Gen(U) has mega bloated hp so the fight will be a slog but with a bit of gear investment (1 or 2 weapon upgrade), it can and have been done.
@@sangheilicommander1056 i've done it, took me around 38 minutes with Adept SnS, it just has an insane amount of health. I'd read in other comments that it has x4 HP so u can't kill it normally

Does this apply to Tigrex as well in that Popo tongue delivery quest in Freedom 2/Unite? When I first played it I did the intended normal thing of avoiding it. But after clearing it the first time I sometimes I would revisit that quest just for fun with my end game gear and kill that Tigrex in just 1 minute for fun. Could that Lagiacrus perhaps be defeatable after you clear quest the first time? I never revisited this quest in 3U after completing it the time
The Sinking Feeling Tigrex is completable upon first try while still finishing the quest, optimal is required tho. Headhunter455 did a video on a little bit back
This reminds me of that one time when i've started a new character in GU and beat the Kokoto village Astalos in that double egg delivey quest with bad gear. Took me roughly 28 minutes to beat him,the fight was...bad but i still did it. I was expecting a unique dialogue from the chief...but nah,Capcom is a bit lazier than that xD
I had Monster hunter freedom unite on the psp and had the quest a sinking feeling where the Tigrex that throws you off the cliff in the starting cutscene shows up. The psp has a cheat option that gives you up to 64x damage. I was easily able to defeat it and once I passed the quest nothing happened. 😕
Not even that, because this Lagiacrus can't be killed in both 3U and Tri (which came before 3rd), but every similar quest in other monster hunter games (including G and GU which came later) lets you kill the monsters early. It's literally just Tri and 3U that are like that for some reason.
I'm glad new generations are curious about delightful MH games, since everyone loves only World 😂 I loved your video, dude, I did almost the same as You, that Moga Lagia is a though one 😺
I made the mistake of doing this in a replay of Gen U, and forgetting that I was on a Mushroom quest in the intro to Glavenus. Got it limping in the end, but the monsters in those quests are so bloated and hit so hard for the time you get to them that I lost all my healing items and had to gather inbetween. I hate that fight, too. Sadly I timed out. But yeah, bizarre that they made this one impossible to kill, since I think its the only quest like this like this?
I did this on my first playthrough and was so upset I timed out. I did not know for sure that he was invincible though, I thought maybe my damage output was too low.
Funny that the same quest exist for mhp3rd where you are killing bulldrome and zinogre appears as warning monster, in the game you can kill him and no new dialogue appears.
It's an MH staple really, least for old gen MH. Just that lagi in Tri and Regios in 4U seem to be the odd ones out. They let you show your skill/ perseverance instead of forcing a cutscene where your hunter retreats even if you're doing extremely well like in 5th gen....
@@santtrun9102 can you remind me which quest makes you "retreat" in 5th gen? There are a few repel quests, and the only one I can think of is the first Zorah Magdoros mission with Nergi where you're forced to retreat.
I got this vid recommended randomly. I know nothing about this game and yet found this vid awesome. Im leaving a comment to help with the youtube algorithm
I always thought about the consequences of actually being able to kill the Lagiacrus. In story youd have solved the villages apparent issues immediately making like half the village quests pointless. MH4 solved it pretty nicely with the Seregios where the Caravan leader just calls you back to town to save you.
Uh, this game doesn't have Glavenus? If ur talking about generations. Its possible to kill it. Maybe it just has a lot of healthy or weapons aren't doing enough damage. Either way, you can kill it in like 28 mins. I did it with an insect glaive.
I'm also curious at that quest at that time, and even tho i use cheat to fight it, i fight it until timeout and he's not even limping. So yess, he's invincible for plot purpose.
I hunted dah'ren mohran before the 4u tutorial quests through the 1 star event quest and was even able to farm the swaxe from the sub quest and part breaks
weirdly, this is the first time in almost 20 years of monster hunter i've even seen the time over thing happening ( heck i forgot time limits exist XD )
I did this with Tigrex popo tongue Freedom 2, killable, Jinouga in P3rd in that bulldrome quest, killable but really irritating. I tried this Lagiacrus on the Wii, as it was the first time, I just got scared and never revisited it. As for MH3U, never crossed my mind to do this.
In MHGU before. I restart my whole save just to hunt Glavenus in mushroom picking quest. I'm kinda veteran in MH so i craft staff looking LS it has highest affinity and longest green sharpness i got, and ups my armor i dont remember what armor it is. i brought all what i can gather in lowrank map and ate food with skill encountering weaker monster, i did it with 10min or less remaining time. But the loots i get even i captured it is less than 10 loots.
Sorry for my bad English In other games like monster hunter portable 3rd early zinogre that apear in a bulldrome quest is kinda easy to kill it but is so strange that you can't kill that lagiacrus I don't know 3ds monster hunters very well so is a long shot but in PSP monster hunters (with emulator of course) they have a cheat that show the monster health I don't know if like citra have this but maybe we could see lagiacrus health ?
Back when the game first came out, there was a video demonstrating that Lagiacrus has gated HP, so once it drops to a level just above where it would start limping, its HP no longer drops. It's simply not possible to hunt the Lagiacrus early.
I remember killing the tigrex in the popo tongue quest back in freedom unite. Just use sleep bombing. Never tried killing lagi in this quest though. Underwater fight was a torture.
My proudest monster hunter achievement: Killing the Glavenous on GU when it first invades your early quest. I thought I would give it a try so 50 minutes of fighting, two carts, and scavenging for herbs blue mushrooms and honey to make more potions later, I managed to kill it. And I got nothing out of it. No one in the village said anything about it, they just said "oh you encountered a Glavenous, that's crazy!" Still worth it though
I did this quest in mh3 too, with the best low rank set possible for damage with a fire Lance and andrenaline... It was enough strong to interrupt lagia very often... But this lagiacrus has infinite health The only way to confirm if this lagia has infinite or simply hundreds of thousands of hp it to use end game gear of master rank... I would like to see you try
Played this after I got to G2 in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate a few years ago did this quest with either the sns or the gunlance fainted twice and killed it after it went to its cave and I can't recall the armor I used but it wasn't leather now idk if I killed it because I was playing on the wii or just good bullshinanigans but I do remember killing this specific legeacris I make it my mission to kill the high tier monsters in low tier quests whenever possible call it bull if you want but I can't prove it since the data was corrupted last year I'm sad to say
I remember replaying MH Tri a while ago, and got to the lagiacrus quest with the 400z armor from shop (i forgot the name) and the initial SnS upgraded once, it took me a while but i managed to cut its tail off, but then the time was running off and was forced to deliver the stuff to complete the quest, sad to know my efforts were useless since it is invincible, dunno why they did this, in MHFU tigrex is killeable in the popo mission, in MHP3rd the zinogre is also killeable in the bulldrome mission, why did they do it in Tri then?
To be fair, I managed to take down a Rathian and a Rathalos early with a Defender Switch Axe; best investment of my time ever... even though there were a few times I was just a razor thin line away from choking.
I actually run that quest early a few times because if you can break parts and then complete the quest you get some free hunt parts. It takes FOREVER to get enough to make anything useful, but it still gives a feeling of satisfaction because you can eventually grind up the full armor set before you have to hunt the Rathian.
I never played MHtri or 3U, so I didn’t knew he had infinite health, but, I have played every other MH (except 4 rise) and I do remember killing all the fated four on MHGen early, and no, nothing special happened after that, I’m curious if you can kill Tigrex or Rathalos early on MHFU and MHF1, might as well try for my self, great vid pal, you left me thinking.
Saw your best and worst dinosaur games video on your old channel, and I gotta say it just in case. You really should check out Fossil Fighters on the DS. Both it and its sequel (Champions) are some of the *best* dinosaur games, both for DS and just DS games in general.
not sure but i think this was the only time capcom made the flagship boss unbeatable early on and people hated it. they didnt do it for tigrex in fu or zinogre in p3rd at least but beating either is very hard considering how much damage they do.
Scripted quests like this have capped hp. Similar to something like jhen mohran which you cant kill on the boat because its hp will get locked until the quest progresses. The same applies here just that there is no trigger to unlock the hp because you arent meant to be able to kill it. TLDR: It has godmode.
you can kill it but its quite hard considering all weapons you can get at that point will mostly bounce on the legs and tail and have crappy sharpnes. it also hits like a truck so you better be good at dodging. but its doable.
so its similar to the tigrex in freedom unite also yes this lagiacrus has infinite hp you can literaly cheat and give yourself high rank gear you will still run out of time im not saying i did this to test but im also not saying i didnt purely out of curiosity. back in the day
In monster hunter generation, the single player quest where they send you in front of the glavenous, so I decided to kill it, took me 40 minutes, later I searched about it, turns out that specific ques, gives the glavenous 3 times the health a normal has. Whelp, waste of my time

Idk maybe it was because of cemu
That's actually good detail 👌🏻 it's like they new someone would try and do that. Now, if someone can hack the game and put g rank at the start of the game and see if it still works, I'd love to see that now!
another lagi will spawn and replace the one you killed
@pump6400 really? Did you tried it yourself? Cause if that's the case.
@@Leviathan1000 i remember doing it back on my wii, although never did it from start i just went high rank then did village quest
@pump6400 that pretty clever and also proves you can kill it.
this is actualy only one out of 2 quests where you cant kill the large monster as far as i know.
of course people hated that capcom did this at all because it takes all the fun out of the challenge.
When Lagi pulled up on the quest, the Joseph inside me immediately went full _NIGERUNDAYOOOOO_
I remember an early mission in MH freedom 2 when you encounter a trigrex. Well I used cheats once I finished the game and i tried to beat the tigrex just in case you can get the items early. You can't, I maxed my attack(with 4 slash long sword fatalis was dead) and i couldn't kill it, it was indeed invincible.
i made this mistake with glavenus in generations. i timed out on his quest. i was mad
That one can be killed its just got massively inflated health, i got Glavenus an Mizutsune on my play through of Generations but couldnt beat Astalos or Gammoth in time
@@drunkennephilim2995 I don't believe you seeing after 45bminutes it timed out and never limping
@@sangheilicommander1056 I forgot it was a gathering quest in my recent playthrough and pushed until I got him to limp. His health is INCREDIBLY bloated and your weapon sucks, so yeah, it's hard to even get him to limp.
Headhunter455 did a video on a little bit back
You CAN defeat Tigrex in FU early on, it just takes like a lot of time because it has a lot of life, however, it's doable
I bullied glavenus on the shroom gathering quest in generations. I cut off his tail and broke everything else, but it wouldn't let me kill him.
I did this once with the Zinogre appearing for the first time in Portable 3rd. Apparently after P3rd, they learned their lesson lol.
Why isn't under water sections a thing in world and rise?
In general, people didn't like the underwater combat. Surprising, I know, but true apparently.
@@timeforgottenprince8271 lame I like underwater combat
Not sure if I remember correctly but I think it was possible to kill him in MH3 though much harder because in mh3u you have 80 base defense
As a person who normally uses ores to make strong armor early I saw that lighting weakness a mile away
AkantoreX did the same in MHFU ages ago. Always fun to watch
when i replayed tri for the 4th tiem i knew i wanna get his armor set so i tried to break his horn in this quest, and it worked, i got a lagi horn🐊
I remember trying to do this on my wii when I was 9, good times xD
I got this vid recommended randomly. I know nothing about this game and yet found this vid awesome. Im leaving a comment to help with the youtube algorithm
You can actually come back after finishing the game and realize, with alatreon armor, that lagiacrus is invincible
If I remember correctly, in generations, you can defeat the glavenus the mission he comes to bother, but nothing special happens if you do so
ah yes, the quest that gave me ptsd... (and my love for MH but... yeah...)
I always thought about the consequences of actually being able to kill the Lagiacrus.
In story youd have solved the villages apparent issues immediately making like half the village quests pointless.
MH4 solved it pretty nicely with the Seregios where the Caravan leader just calls you back to town to save you.
Same thing goes with Glavenus, thought the early one with a palico and he just refused to limp
Nope you can kill it, it just has like 4x the health.
Uh, this game doesn't have Glavenus? If ur talking about generations. Its possible to kill it. Maybe it just has a lot of healthy or weapons aren't doing enough damage. Either way, you can kill it in like 28 mins. I did it with an insect glaive.
I never tried to kill the Lagiacrus at this stage, but I did try to cut the tail at the very least, which I managed.
Can you try with online stuff or something like that so you can try with 600+ def and 800+ raw ?
Sorry for my bad English
In other games like monster hunter portable 3rd early zinogre that apear in a bulldrome quest is kinda easy to kill it but is so strange that you can't kill that lagiacrus
I don't know 3ds monster hunters very well so is a long shot but in PSP monster hunters (with emulator of course) they have a cheat that show the monster health I don't know if like citra have this but maybe we could see lagiacrus health ?
Back when the game first came out, there was a video demonstrating that Lagiacrus has gated HP, so once it drops to a level just above where it would start limping, its HP no longer drops. It's simply not possible to hunt the Lagiacrus early.
I did this with 3 ultimate zinogore where I somehow broke its claw and got it limping. The quest timed me out though.
I remember killing the tigrex in the popo tongue quest back in freedom unite. Just use sleep bombing. Never tried killing lagi in this quest though. Underwater fight was a torture.
My proudest monster hunter achievement:
Killing the Glavenous on GU when it first invades your early quest.
I thought I would give it a try so 50 minutes of fighting, two carts, and scavenging for herbs blue mushrooms and honey to make more potions later, I managed to kill it.
And I got nothing out of it. No one in the village said anything about it, they just said "oh you encountered a Glavenous, that's crazy!"
Still worth it though
Yea I remember this mission. How come the new MHs don’t have swimming…?
Too bad you can’t mod it and instakill command him to see if he IS invincible
I did this quest in mh3 too, with the best low rank set possible for damage with a fire Lance and andrenaline... It was enough strong to interrupt lagia very often... But this lagiacrus has infinite health
The only way to confirm if this lagia has infinite or simply hundreds of thousands of hp it to use end game gear of master rank... I would like to see you try
I learned this the hard way a loooong time ago.
Well, at least Tigrex during the Popo Tongue quest was at least killable
To be fair, I managed to take down a Rathian and a Rathalos early with a Defender Switch Axe; best investment of my time ever... even though there were a few times I was just a razor thin line away from choking.
I actually run that quest early a few times because if you can break parts and then complete the quest you get some free hunt parts.
It takes FOREVER to get enough to make anything useful, but it still gives a feeling of satisfaction because you can eventually grind up the full armor set before you have to hunt the Rathian.
I did this quest with endgame high rank gear in Tri. I could have told you he's unkillable/uncapturable in this quest.
you can break its bodyparts for some early lagiacrus materials
I never played MHtri or 3U, so I didn’t knew he had infinite health, but, I have played every other MH (except 4 rise) and I do remember killing all the fated four on MHGen early, and no, nothing special happened after that, I’m curious if you can kill Tigrex or Rathalos early on MHFU and MHF1, might as well try for my self, great vid pal, you left me thinking.
can you imagine water combat in the new games
The funny thing about this. You could have just asked me.
This was discovered by someone else like 5years ago.
when i was little i used to cry when i did this quest
Saw your best and worst dinosaur games video on your old channel, and I gotta say it just in case.
You really should check out Fossil Fighters on the DS. Both it and its sequel (Champions) are some of the *best* dinosaur games, both for DS and just DS games in general.
My favorite monster (the one that caught my attention when I never heard of Monster Hunter in the past) and it's never been brought back :c
@@I.HEAR.A.SOUND. Gen ultimate?
@@I.HEAR.A.SOUND. Ooooh. Okay. Thanks for clarifying.
Would you try this quest with the Fated Four? Apparently their health is just bloated but they can be killed early on
not sure but i think this was the only time capcom made the flagship boss unbeatable early on and people hated it.
they didnt do it for tigrex in fu or zinogre in p3rd at least but beating either is very hard considering how much damage they do.
Scripted quests like this have capped hp. Similar to something like jhen mohran which you cant kill on the boat because its hp will get locked until the quest progresses. The same applies here just that there is no trigger to unlock the hp because you arent meant to be able to kill it.
TLDR: It has godmode.
did it years ago on my psp. hp gets stuck somewhere. but you can break every part of him.
I sort of hit MP right off the bat so when I did this I was way over kitted XD
Quality content. Hi from France, you're awsome. Keep going !
You can on mhfu when you first encounter the tigrex if I remember
I do this every time a rath shows up. Or tigrex in rise.
yep, he's invincible indeed
At least you got some tail.
aye think you can take on tigrex early??? always wondered if that could be done
It can be done
Great, my brain just remembered...
Now I have another question: "What happens if you hunt Zinogre early? - MHP3rd."
you can kill it but its quite hard considering all weapons you can get at that point will mostly bounce on the legs and tail and have crappy sharpnes.
it also hits like a truck so you better be good at dodging.
but its doable.
7 yo me shat himself when lagiacrus popped up
Yeah at least you can do this with mhw. Hell you even have access to an event quest for pink rathian before the story
so its similar to the tigrex in freedom unite
also yes this lagiacrus has infinite hp
you can literaly cheat and give yourself high rank gear you will still run out of time
im not saying i did this to test but im also not saying i didnt purely out of curiosity. back in the day
Honestly I thought that the Lagi unbeatable was commonly known, plus it would of just taken a quick google search
In monster hunter generation, the single player quest where they send you in front of the glavenous, so I decided to kill it, took me 40 minutes, later I searched about it, turns out that specific ques, gives the glavenous 3 times the health a normal has. Whelp, waste of my time
