Back when I was a kid (before everyone had accessible internet) we would get scam callers and my dad loved to mess with them by pretending he didn't understand what they were talking about until they got frustrated and hung up. One time someone called about Windows (computer software) and my dad started talking about the actual windows of the house.

A kinda disturbing fact I learned about these scams is they often put in deliberate typos, broken English and fake sounding website links to purposely filter out people who are more observant and aware of scams, leaving only the most gullible to fall for them. We think of scammers as idiots who can’t even formulate a proper sentence but that’s all part of it. Us demonstrating we can easily see past their scam is precisely the information they want off us.

I’ve gotten that “I filmed you through your webcam” email and honestly, if they have somehow created a program that can see through a physical webcam cover and create a deepfake at the same time, maybe they should try to earn money by selling that instead.

"Texas Based Public Agency" I'm laughing my head off. Probably pulled the amount from the Texas Unclaimed Property Site, and then just just sent the same card to every single person they could verify an address for.

Tip for everyone in regards to gas station skimmers. BEFORE putting you card into any card reading devices, grab it and pull. If it comes off

The most dangerous scams are, honestly, the physical ones. Ones that are sent in letters and the like. For most people (especially the people they're targeting) the possibility of it being a scam doesn't even cross their mind
