    I absolutely love these shoes, my feet stayed dry during a heavy rain storm and no water got through what so ever, I even ran them under a faucet of water to test them before wearing them and water never broke through the shoe. Idk where these negative reviews are coming from, these are waterproof all day for me.

      Me too I can run a hose on them - feet r dry. Thats why I wear them in the rain and snow got tired of wet feet esp in the cold - I love mine.

      They will be waterproof some times but after year or less Gore Tex will be lose and you will have wet feet after walking in morning grass more than in non Gore Tex

    I work outside and need some good comfortable shoes. I came across the trail 3 first and was sold on the comfort and the waterproof of them. An now the trail 4s is on my list to purchase for work. Good review too

    Nice review. Is the heel cup on the Trail 4 taller than the Trail 3 GTX? I love my Trail 3 GTX but they give me blisters on the back of my heel when I walk in them and it's because the heel cup is too low.
    Also do you think this shoe is suitable for some light hiking? Just day hikes, nothing too technical but don't want to be slipping around if there's a sprinkle of rain. Would the Zegama be better?

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm it’s nearly the same but the peg trail 4 gtx is a little taller in the rear. Your foot does sit down in the peg trail 4 gtx a little more it’s a better feeling fit for me personally but I’ve never had blister issues. This shoe is suitable for light hiking I find it comfortable and with the updated tread pattern they have improved the grip. While the zegama is a nice shoe - I find it more clunky to just walk in rather than run plus the outsole isn’t the best in the wet. Hope this info helps!

    Hello mate, I am planning to use these shoes as normal winter shoes. If I am not running like crazy and walking normally, will it work in terms of keeping warm? The city I live in is -10 C° in winter.

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      For me I wear mine all winter long and while it does snow where I live I’m usually out only a couple hours in the cold. They are warmer than most running shoes because of the GTX upper but I cannot say definitively that they will keep you as warm as an insulated boot in sustained cold temps. They are very comfy though.

    Gracias por su análisis. Las acabo de comprar en color negro. Las usaré para caminatas con la familia por el bosque, senderos poco exigentes. Y como calzado para los días lluviosos en la ciudad. Cree que me darán buen resultado para eso? Por cierto, la suela resbala en aceras o asfalto mojado?

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry it took a while to respond. Yes I think you made a good choice they are perfect for that. I haven’t had an issue with these slipping for me they are better than previous versions. Lo siento, tomó un tiempo para responder. Sí, creo que hiciste una buena elección, son perfectos para eso. No he tenido ningún problema con estos deslizamientos para mí, son mejores que las versiones anteriores.

    I just brought this from Nike website, it is sending them from Netherlands to Canada, it could take a while.....
    My last Sunday long run was in snow/slush conditions, my regular Pegasus just won't cut it. My both feet are wet and cold, had to cut the run short. Hopefully these would do well for winter running in Toronto.

      You will be much happier and dryer my friend. I use my gtx runners for everything in the rain, wet and snow. Love Toronto used to visit and stay with friends a lot we were all skaters so always had a good raucous time up there.

    I read several articles saying the gaiter is not waterproof. may I know if that is true?

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm I’ve never thought about that because it hasn’t been an issue for me. The gaiter is small and made out of a stretch poly fabric. It’s basically there to keep the pebbles from popping up and getting in your shoes on the trails but also keep water from splashing up and going into your shoe and it does a pretty good job at both. If you are wading or standing in water ankle height or over ankle height water is already going to get in your shoe no matter how waterproof the shoe is. If it’s raining light you shouldn’t have an issue either I haven’t. My GTX shoes get soaked and my socks stay dry….but I’m just walking and or running while raining not wading through shallow creeks. I hope this helps give you some more info on the gaiter through my experience and usage. Thanks for the question!

    Can this shoe (Goretex version) be used for running in summer aswell?
    Or this are made specifically for Winter/rainy season?
    Kindly comment on breathability of Goretex version 4.

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but not much breathability and hot sweaty feet….with that said I still wear mine when it rains on the warmer days.

      @@SOLESERFER Was planning to ask the same question and I see you already answered it. If you are wearing them during warmer months what kind of socks would you recommend, wool or polyester? Maybe mix of the two?

    Can I ask how is the size compared to the previous ones? On the Pegasus 3 I went half a size up on this one should I do the same?

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      While I do feel there is more width on this toe box I’d say the length is about the same as the previous version if not just barely more room. If I were you I may stick with going half size up again.

  • @juanjohnrico
    @juanjohnrico ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am not finding these comfy, soft, or plush at all, yet all reviews I've found call them so.
    I'm comparing it to the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Shield (my previous shoes) and the Hoka Challenger ATR 6 GTX (what I bought after trying to like the Pegasus Trail 4 GTX).
    What gives? Is there much variability in manufacturing? Are they "plush" relative to the typical trail shoe? Does anyone have success with adding different insoles (the stock insole says "Ortholite" on it)?
    Thanks for the information and review!

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is some variability in the midsole foam manufacturing and durometer tolerance but not much. I didn’t own the zoom peg 37 but depending on how the zoom was set up you may be missing that zoom bag. In the past the midsole foams were a little firmer but less stack height as well - I think when reviewers say plush (me included) that could mean many different things based off different experiences and…compared to what? The trail runners won’t be as “plush” as the road shoes because of the outsole and stability issues on the trails but they are getting close in recent years. They don’t make a gtx zegama but the midsole on that has a higher stack than the peg trail. If you have an insole with a zoom air bag you can thrown that in your new shoes and see if that helps the under foot feel.

    Nike Pegasus Trail 4 GORE-TEX or Zegama for cushioning and comfort?

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohhh that’s a hard one for me - something about the peg trail 4 gtx I keep going back to the upper fits my foot really well super comfy almost like you forget you have it on. On the other hand the zegama does have more cushion underfoot and is super comfy too but is a bit more clunky to wear everyday casually. The outsole on the zegama is more clunky as well and noisy I think think peg trail 4 outsole much better for roads or concrete and casual wear.

    • @bakerstreet7050
      @bakerstreet7050 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SOLESERFER I have a 100+ km trail race in 3 month and I'm still undecided. What shoes would you bring with you in a long race? and one more question, do you think Trail 4 GORE-TEX they make your feet sweat a lot becouse of impermeability?

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t run long distances but if it’s mostly roads choose the peg - the gore Tex doesn’t have the best breathability you are correct your feet can get sweaty that’s definitely a factor especially for a long run. If it’s a trail run go for the zegama it will have the breathability or check out new balance runners you may find a better toe box fit for those swollen feet on longer runs from what I understand.

  • @Wunderkinddd
    @Wunderkinddd ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you like these more than the 3 gtx? Why

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a slightly different fit I’d say more comfortable with slightly more room in the toe box. It’s a little more planted and less wobbly feeling and the outsole is better on wet surfaces overall. With all that said depending on what you are using them for there’s nothing wrong with the gtx 3 the only issue I had was the toe bumper coming loose on my gtx 3s - something that didn’t happen with my gtx 2s.

  • @koryjalowiec655

    Are they actually waterproof? I've read some reviews where people said even though they are advertised as waterproof w the gore-tex, their feet got pretty wet in rainy weather.

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve had the last three Gore Tex versions of this shoe and yes they are waterproof. I had the peg trail 2 gtx leak after 12 months of wear along the sole but with the peg trail 3 gtx I wore for 11 months and now the 4 I’ve had no leaking and I wear in the rain and snow.

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are narrow like other Nikes but the width of the toebox feel ever so slightly larger than the previous years and the depth is shallower. I’d grab the NB if you need a lil more room my friend.

    I have a question...I've been really considering this shoe for everyday use, I walk a lot outside. I do live in South Texas and we don't necessarily get a lot of rain but when we do, I don't have any other water resistant shoe to wear other than a pair of Vans MTE which are so narrow that make me want to take them off as soon as I put them on. So my question really is are these Nike GoreTek breathable enough that my foot won't get all sweaty? Thanks y'all!

    • @SOLESERFER
      @SOLESERFER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I walk my dog every day many times in the summer with these goretex shoes. The breathability isn’t great and yes after about a mile feet do get hot n sweaty on those hot days in Ohio…..but I still wear mine because I usually don’t go much farther than a mile and if it’s raining or wet out I still can go and walk without wet feet. If you are going to get them for warmer weather make sure you get the lighter color ones that will help not cook your feet!

    these shoes are absolute garbage. I bought a pair and they almost got me killed on my first run with them. Super slipery, you feel ever rock you stand on, are very unstable. Best use would be road to light trail like forests, but do not go trailing with them on technical trails, they are clearly not made for that, shame on Nike really ...

      Yeah Nike is known for their slippery outsoles the new upcoming ones are supposed to have vibram outsole or a better rubber compound because of all the complaints.
