@@WalkWithMeTim I have a trip planned for a week in London next year and I was wondering if you have ever heard of or stayed in a hotel called the cadogan by bellmond because there are no video reviews of it on TH-cam. This trip will be my first time ever travelling to Europe
Walked past this hotel today and peered in the window. The doorman immediately invited me in to allow me to simply look around. Inside another staff member offered me help. Of course they were probably also security, but in no way made me feel I shouldn’t be there, nor did they usher me out. It was magical inside, glittering with Christmas decor. Actually felt quite emotional to have a glimpse into this opulent, but very homely special world. Beautiful without being flash and wonderful ambience. One day I will stay there ❤️ Thank you for the fab review. Lovely family
This really is my favorite hotel in the world. The service is just out of this world. One event illustrates this. It was just before Christmas, 25 years ago. My wife, one-year-old son, and a friend were having afternoon tea at the Dorchester (I was not a guest staying). Walking towards the Dorchester, we were caught in a torrential rain storm. When we got to the lobby we all felt and looked horribly wet. The concierge ushered us to 2 rooms on the main floor (ladies and gents) where we got dressing gowns, they took our clothes, dried and pressed them, and got them back within 15 minutes. We were given toiletries and anything we might need to get presentable again. The experience was not only special but I have never, ever encountered this kind of service in a hotel again. Since then I have stayed many, many times at the Dorchester. The level of service, the quality of the food, and the incredible friendliness are not found elsewhere. If you want a REAL luxury hotel experience in London, there is only one place to go and that's the Dorchester (you will go out of your mind if you like British Art Deco!!!). By the way: what a top-notch vlog!!!!!
I'm a Dorchester baby - I believe that there are 18 of us who were born in the hotel. Your presentation was so heartening to see, that the hotel is still cared for and respected by the owners and staff. It was always a special place. I am happy to see that it still is.
My dad worked as the foreman engineer at the Dorchester for about 20 years.. My brother and I when we were young used to go there as they had the staffs children's Christmas party held in the ballroom every year. I'm 56 years old now and have wonderful memories of that beautiful place. My dad passed away in 2016 but he always spoke very fondly of the "D" as he called it.
Think this is the first luxury hotel you’ve done that I’d actually love to stay in. And wouldn’t feel ripped off paying for. Comfy, cosy, not mobbed and that meal looked gorgeous.
@@brybhoy18 My thought exactly! All other "classics" have been disapointments, with all the costs but none of the service or class. If I ever win the lottery, I might treat myself to a stay.
I completely agree. I watch travel vlogs in my downtime and so many hotels seem to be dropping their standards - especially since Covid. The Dorchester is on the top of my dream holiday list. ✨☺️
This is the first 'High Class' hotel that actually displays that to me along with the personal touches and superb service! Really enjoyed this video. 👏🏻
I worked at the Dorchester back in the 80's .I was the first female waiter ever employed in The Grill. Anton Mossman was the Head Chef.Memories to last a lifetime. Thank you for this video.
Anton Mosimann not so well known as some of his modern contemporaries but a brilliant chef, we got to work with him at one hotel when he did a private dining event for a corporate client, just fantastic.
Gaby mentioning that during the War, because of its construction, the Dorchester was the safest place to be, reminded me of an excerpt from the poem 'Christmas' by John Betjeman: 'And Christmas-morning bells say 'Come!' Even to shining ones who dwell Safe in the Dorchester Hotel.' What a beautiful, classy hotel it is, too.
now this is a world class hotel! i'm impressed Tim! very nice attention to details and the fact they put Casper's name on the teddy bear was very sweet of them. this is how you treat your guests!
This hotel is 1000 times better than any newly built hotel anywhere in the world. This hotel has the location , vibe , history , charm and the know how to treat guests.
Haha, beat me to it! I saw a movie scene - Maitre d’ : Sir, the private dinner for Sheik Rattlenroll given by the Duke of Dork has requested pigeon pie at six o’clock. Manager: But we don’t have…er, tell them we’ll have it ready. (issues frantic orders to staff) *Long shot - several truckloads of men with nets enter Hyde Park)*
It's sick that there are people in the world who don't think twice when ordering breakfast for this price. Thank you both for this lovely video again 😊
Oh this brings back memories I have been here a couple of times for afternoon tea. Both times was amazing, the food was scrumptious. They had a grand piano and the pianist was playing Christmas music as it was that time of year and they also had a choir. It was really delightful,
As I mentioned elsewhere, I have only been to The Dorchester for a charity lunch. (As a guest, so no cost to me!) What little I saw was very impressive. It was therefore great, and appreciative, to be able to see much more with you. Expensive? Yes, but taking everything into account you certainly get what you pay for. And, it is the little touches that add to that value. I can understand why it is considered to be probably the best London hotel.
Hi Tim, that was the most beautiful 'classic/traditional' hotel I've ever seen. Apparently it was also Elizabeth Taylor's favourite hotel - I've seen another 'insight' in to the massive wing, which is still dedicated to her. It has a huge balcony in which she possibly had parties. One of the buses goes past The Dorchester and I've been past it on the bus in awe. Thanks so much for showing us all how the other half live, it will clearly be a memorable stay for you all. Lets keep praying for that lottery win!
Not much to fault about the Dorchester. It's not a massive hotel in terms of the number rooms so the guests get the personal touch. The thousand plus room hotels struggle to give you that.
Tim, by far one of the best hotels you have stayed in. The Georgian English style, with all its charm and elegance, evokes a sense of timeless sophistication that is rare these days. Every detail, from the decor to the impeccable service, just feel like you was stepping back into an era of true luxury.
The Dorchester looks lovely. I think it was worth the price becausse you, Gabby and Casper all looked really happy and relaxed. And the hotel just seemed friendly and peaceful. Well worth it👍
I was in The Dorchester once back in the late 70's. My friend and I were visiting his friend who was staying there! He treated us to Tea! It was the Most Posh I'd ever been .... Still Is!
Hi both, We are now into our 5th generation of coming to The Dorchester! The staff team are simply amazing and the hotel is simply stunning! Love the detail Tim and all of The Dorchester Collection are outstanding and all the staff just make perfection happen! Keep up the great vids!
I love the extra touches that the reception team know exactly what you may need, such as the items for a baby/toddler, such as the bath toy duck, but also the baby toiletries, nappy bin in the bathroom, and the teddy, as well as ensuring that the other staff will be aware of you guys as you mentioned, by name, and the chef will have been told you are filming, or are aware of who you are anyway, so will ensure a great impression, as will all the staff I do think that the Dorchester is class establishment anyway, and will likely be just as welcoming for all.
Tim, I love all your videos. They are informative and we also seem to travel with you to all the exotic locations and to all the wonderful hotels. Keep making videos as they are like a breath of fresh air. You take all the trouble zigzagging all round the world while we experience the luxury of visiting those places from our homes. Thank you.
I totally agree! I live in Northern California and always enjoy your visits to hotels in the US, but I love seeing the elegance of the five-star hotels in London. Just like my dreams!
For me, the Dorchester showcases that English royalty vibe. Looked stunning, and it would appear they have a very talented team of staff. Really enjoyed this one, Tim and Gabby. Bravo
Is there a gift shop, a gym/spa, transport courtesy of the hotel to the airport specially for us Americans? Is there a concierge who would arrange your tours, your shopping at Savile Row shops and also Fortnum as well as Harrods? What a grand lobby so pretty and cozy at the same time to just relax and read the paper in peace and quiet.

What a beautiful hotel! And compared to many of the 5* hotels I’ve seen you stay at, I think this one was worth every penny! I know where I’ll stay when I win the lottery! (I think your evening meal was quite reasonable too, compared to breakfast!). Thanks for sharing, Tim!❤

Brilliant review Tim. Been waiting for this to come for ages! I've been to the Dorchester a few times for food and drinks, which has always been fantastic; afternoon tea in the promenade is amazing. The suite looked pretty immaculate to be fair and it has that whole luxury English country home feel, which I think is a really nice touch. As usual, the prices there are eye watering! In terms of the top 3 hotels in London, it's always gonna be a toss up between The Dorchester, Claridges and The Savoy depending on who you ask. As you've stayed in them all, would love to know who gets the top spot?
Love your vids Tim. Perhaps the best hotel you’ve documented. Class and elegant without being crass and overbearing like some other 5 star contemporaries and the service looks wonderful too.
It is a Park Lane hotel so there will be 24 hour noise from traffic, possibly building work and people outside. But it is lovely. I’ve done afternoon tea and used the various bars when I worked less than 100 yds away.
My ex husband used to be a chef at the Dorchester and we took our children to a Christmas staff children’s party there in the ballroom. It was amazing, we even got personalised Christmas books for the children as gifts. Very special place indeed ❤
Wow... I'm gonna rewatch your videos on the Ritz, the Savoy...and Claridges. THIS SEEMED NICER, PRETTIER, SOMEHOW A CUT ABOVE THEM. I love your videos.... I'll never stay at any of these hotels, but i love the relaxed way you review them.
So obsessed with your channel: I watch you and gabbie religiously. I’m watching from Australia and it’s 3am. Lol. Loved this video, this place looks incredible. Jess
Definitely one of the first luxury reviews where it lived up to the price tag. Yes that breakfast was a bit nuts in terms of pricing but it looked incredible and you weren’t sat at the bar and then rushed when another guest arrived.
Looking forward to seeing this. I love watching Walk With Me with Tim and Gabby especially seeing Casper. He’s just to adorable. What a munchkin 😊from the US 🇺🇸
Thank you and the family for sharing the experience here at this beautiful hotel. The little teddy bear woth your son's name on the little sweater or shirt was just too cute!!😊😊❤
I was in London for Coronation week in 2023, staying with a distant relative, and I was determined to have a proper English afternoon tea at a fancy hotel before I left. I chose the Dorchester and was delighted by the hotel, the staff, the service, the atmosphere and the wonderful food! It was expensive but worth it. I only wish I could have spent the night in one of their rooms. . . . .
Omg I always wondered what it would be like inside and it’s totally beautiful. Thanks for staying there, although soooooooo expensive for the food but if it tasted super good 🎉🎉🎉🎉 great vlog guys x❤😊
WOW! The Dorchester certainly did not disappoint and is very immaculate. Easily the best most luxury hotel in London you have stayed in and the food was something else. Expensive I know but OMG you definitely get what you pay for. If I won the lottery I would most definitely stay here. Thanks Tim & Gaby for sharing your experience with us 😊
Wow! This place looks incredible! Beautiful entrance, rooms, restaurants and even the flowers & chocolate shop was stunning 🤩 Thanks for this one Tim & Gabby!
This was great to watch thanks. Nice to see that the room has a Bang and Olufsen TV. Only the best with no expense spared. That particular TV is approximately 10K. My house is full of Bang and Olufsen gear.
Thanks for showing us how the rich travels. This is by far the best luxury hotel. I loved how clean it is and their attention to details. Keep up the great work!

Jess

Me too I am a felllow Aussie
Me too! Small world 😊
Haha same 😅 Love Tim's videos even more at 3am 🤣
@WalkWithMeTim omygosh!!!! thank you for replying! You're amazing! when will you be in Australia? Lol
Definitely one of the first luxury reviews where it lived up to the price tag.
Yes that breakfast was a bit nuts in terms of pricing but it looked incredible and you weren’t sat at the bar and then rushed when another guest arrived.
Well said. It’s one of the only 5 star hotel experiences Tim has had which wasn’t disappointing in one way or another.
I've done afternoon tea there. Will be watching.
Beautiful entrance, rooms, restaurants and even the flowers & chocolate shop was stunning 🤩
Thanks for this one Tim & Gabby!
It is unbelievably beautiful! Its cost is well worth it. A great tour, Tim and Gaby! Thanks!🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
Really enjoy all your videos but this one is superb. Casper is really getting tall and Gabi as always is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing
Now that is a 6 star Hotel…stunning
loved this video! definitely the best place you’ve stayed in London😍
This was great to watch thanks. Nice to see that the room has a Bang and Olufsen TV. Only the best with no expense spared. That particular TV is approximately 10K. My house is full of Bang and Olufsen gear.
How much?
Thanks for showing us how the rich travels. This is by far the best luxury hotel. I loved how clean it is and their attention to details. Keep up the great work!
My dads favourite Hotel in the world ,he's been to alot of them through his work ,I went there as a kid ,I don't remember, way to long ago now
Really enjoyed this video Tim, one of the best. I’m sold, need to plan my trip to the Dorchester with partner and our little one. That breakfast setting was simply stunning 😊
The review I’ve been waiting for, alway wanted to stay here!
I agree about Gabby's dress and the elevator..It's the tone and texture. Very pretty
Looks a beautiful hotel Tim thanks for posting this vlog well done
Everything looked exquisite, perfectly placed and warm! But those slippers and robe for the baby, oh my goodness, adorable!
