- I bought this engine from a guy that let it sit for years, If we can get it running , it will be used in the 1969 Chevelle for this years hotrod power tour.

I have a 496 I rebuilt 3 times in 1 year in my garage ..They are easy to work on ..I had a friend spend time with me teaching me everything I need to know about these motors ..I have it now in a frame off restoration 64 Impala SS
That big block sounds very healthy
That is exactly what mine is doing at 30:00. So glad i found this video!
I appreciate the honesty of your videos. It actually takes multiple tries, sometimes many try’s in my garage when working on things. So many of the other channels edit out the failed attempts. Thanks for sharing.
It’s rare when I get it right the first time! Lol
Drop it in something ridiculously small and just have it as a dedicated burn out machine. Great vid
Good motor. Great video. Look forward to all of them.
Keep up the good work on these videos
great video!!
Love the videos!!!
Pretty cool to see a motor run while sitting on the floor
Interesting custom made wooden Engine rolling Dolly that they engine is bolted to
Degrease, replace all the gaskets and do a tune up. Should run well.
I like it!
Ya know you can put distributor hold down tab on and tighten just snug so you can move by hand but won't move on its own.
I would compression test it prior to putting in anything for Power Tour! 😊
Dont forget 454 has a weighted flywheel or a plate that bolts behind the flywheel like a weight.
All other big blocks are internally balanced
Right on, the flywheel I have is weighted on the back side.
@@streetratgarage noticed that. I have the same flywheel but its new. It was specified for a 454 and it had a weight as well so you probably have the right one.
That's the first big block you ever worked on?.
@@briankiker8272 whats it matter?
Good truck swap
will not build oil pressure until dist is installed
Why not oil cylinders prior?its been sitting 20 years
I skipped 95% of your video just wanted to hear it run or explode.
