I agree. It looks intentional, and I like that. They dont have to be identical, but they should be same color family, warm b brown to warm brown, cool beje to cool beje.. etc.
Do you ever try to dress yourself but when you go to the mirror you DON'T feel confident and can't figure out what's not working? That's why fashion advice exists. Like any art form, there are rules that help and sometimes we break them once we know what we're doing.
That first one is so true! I've had things from cheaper stores that are in mint condition and stuff from higher end brands that I don't wear anymore because they didn't hold up as well. Fabric composition is where it's at. I agree 💯
@@danieladana4224 natural fibers like cotton, linen, silk, wool, or blends of this fabrics. Sometimes a wee bit of polyester in the mix is good, to make the fabric less wrinkly. But be aware of the thinness of the fabric. The thicker it is, the more expensive it will look and the more it will last you.
I bought a very popular designer it bag in 2009. It lost shape fast and I took it to a peddler. It was LINED with cardboard. I thrifted it but it’s still RRP $US2800 Cardboard! M&S autograph bags are made better.
Same. I also gave up on hella expensive 100% wool sweater. Found out that I much prefer nice blend even with polyester or even just wiscose /cotton blends.
My basics are the things that stay with me the longest and that I change out the least. So I finally invested in some good quality materials. You don’t have to break the bank to do that though! I just made sure it was all 100% cotton or poplin which is another form of cotton just a different binding style.
#1 is so true. Price tag doesn’t always equal quality, and let’s remember so many influencers recommending these expensive brands are often gifted items or given credit, so affordability is different. Look for fabric, and look at the stitching to recognize well made items.
I work fashion industry more than 20 years. Most important things is you are comfortable what you wear. I love navy and black style and matching style, because definitely looks good and stylish. Summer time I also wear dark colors sometimes. Doesn’t matter who said to you.
No, I like my belt, shoes, and purse to all be matching. It usually bothers me when they aren't. 😬 If one thing doesn't match the other two, it at least has to match the shirt/dress, not the pants. 😐
Bang on as always - EXCEPT belt loops look terrible without a belt! Mind you as I agree with all of the rest of this I'm starting to think I might need a rethink ....... 😊
Sometimes the belt looks like too much when you wear a printed top and/or a printed bottom. I totall understand this influencer. I’ve gone without my belt numerous times with my pants and have received compliments.
I certainly agree about it not being the brand etc when it comes to getting a good outfit or putting pieces together, example; whilst literally walking through Primark just glancing as I went I spotted a linen skirt with some pretty detailing which was lined and had a really good feel to it, I was going to a garden party later that day so I picked it up, teamed it with a top I had already - 8/9 years later I was still wearing that skirt it was black and white so I could team it with so many different combinations of tops and accessories, it cost £8.00 so I would say never discount anything as being a useful wardrobe staple just because it doesn't come with a designer label or price!!
I've been watching you all for almost a year now and have learned so much and have so much more to learn when it comes to Classic Menswear and styles. Before, I had never known what I wanted to wear or what I liked in general but since stumbling upon this channel I have a clear goal of what I want. Thank you to those who make this channel and those who will make it last for more years to come, you are truly a blessing :)
Love all the outfits. I also don't believe in matching all the leathers but I do believe in matching jewelry according to gold or silver. If you wear gold earrings it somehow feels mismatched to me when the rings are suddenly silver. Maybe that's just me.
Only the quality basics is still a recommendation (not a rule). I don’t think the rest of these have been a rule in years and years. And even for quality basics it means quality of fabric and construction not blind brand buying. Maybe I am more fashion forward than I thought!
If I wore navy shoes with a black outfit my friends would ask me if I got dressed in the dark. Where I live it is so hot in the summer, I only wear black at night when it isn't absorbing the sunlight.
I spent a September in Paris seven years ago and EVERYONE (men too) was wearing navy and black, and we know Parisiens are never wrong when it comes to fashion.
I agree. I don't go for any of this. I want to see some tips for men. In sick of baggy pant, ball caps at meals, filthy athletic shoes , knit sleeveless shirts, stubble. , baggy. cargo shorts ; flip flops with filthy feet and overgrown toe nails, and untrusted teeth I have some standards 😮
style rule: wear whatever the fuck you want, dont listen to ANYONE telling you what "looks good", or "must haves", or whats "contrived" or not. Wear whatever you want, period.
Dont look at the brand, but the fabric composition. 100 per cent, this is my golden rule for buying clothes! When it comes to very simple basics, I have got some brilliant pieces from Asda! As long as it is 95-100% cotton and fits well, Asda is actually my go to for some simple basics.
Agree!! Many of my favorite looks for instant style are pairing my navy with black. Or blue with Navy. In fact an all-black look 👀 seems passé & last century. Often black pigments vary in quality, tone and textures so it’s not a good look. But black and navy are my newest classic. A wardrobe combo I’ve been wearing for a few years now. And your other tips are spot on as well. I read labels 🏷️ for fabric content and not just clothes but food as well. Brands can be deceiving (good brands sell out to big corps who cut corners & hike prices) but contents offer clues to the values you’ll be getting. Great 😊 tips. Bravo 👏🏻 👗👚🥿👖🥼stay true to 🐑 you 💖✨
I'm from Sydney and we wear aLL colours in summer, including a lot of black. It was only when I moved to Europe that I felt out of place wearing black or navy in hot weather 😅🙈
i agree that people shouldnt feel constricted to match all leathers, but the “new rule” introduced here that matching them all looks bad is not one i plan to follow. all black leathers can look great. perfectly matching browns might be a lot for a casual look, but browns of differing shades is gonna be harmonious without being conspicuously matchy
Try to vary the textures of the prices you are wearing. This adds visual interest. Look to classic outfits for inspiration. E.g. A tweed suit with a fine cotton blouse and a silk scarf.
I too agree with the 1st one...as I have a limited budget, most of my clothes are H&M ,Zara etc...Many of them are 10/15 years old and still in really good condition, even still on tren❤nd
Well even tho you CAN wear dark clothes in summer you still should have light colors becuase dark takes in more heat meaning it will be super duper hot. This is comeing from Someone in texas also just wear what you think looks good on you or what you want
I have so many tops and bottoms not from high street but they last me years. Beautiful and durable fashion don’t have to be high street at all! I get compliments every single time I am out. I am 51 (look 35) but the compliments come from young people in their 20s and 30s. Even my 19yo son says I have very good fashion sense and nothing I have is high street! 😇😇😇
Anymore is such a key word. Tan shoes and bag was such a thing in the noughties /early teens. Now, it looks dated and try hard. Viva La fashion! Ditto black and navy - looks delectable especially with the pieces, shape and proportion here ❤️
Obviously she does not live in a hot climate. Black in the sun absorbs the suns' heat and makes you heat up. Lighter colours, particularly white absorbs less heat.
I'm really excited to hear that you don't have to have a belt with belt loops for some reason I do not enjoy belts very much. Sometimes they really finish the outfit. I really like not having to match your bag and your shoes and I used to not like navy and black, but now I think it really is chic. I also like brown and black. Another one is not wearing white after Labor Day. I'm so glad winter white is in that reminds me the other one is white and cream or off-white used to be a no-no but now it looks really good
I love the look of all matching leather, but I also love the look of thoughtfully breaking "rules". Like if you have visually top and bottom leather are same, and the one that's in the middle is different, I think that can be stylish. (Or similar concepts)
Dark colors make a neat silhouette any time of year. Blue on black is very upscale. Dress up any basic look with a print scarf including the garment colors. I love black and navy together. I think it looks very chic.
Same! Never heard that one
Nothing new. YSL started the trend in 1950s
My thoughts too.
One influencer very pair black and navy then another says you should.
Very French.
Matching accessories like belts and shoes or shoes and bag will always be a classic.
I agree. It looks intentional, and I like that. They dont have to be identical, but they should be same color family, warm b brown to warm brown, cool beje to cool beje.. etc.
I agree
Oh matching leather will never be outdated but to each their own.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥂🌹🌹🌹🌹
Agreed!!!!!
It is not, but I agree, matching 3-4 items is too much, it looks weird, especially with a contrasting outfit.
Thought the same
Agreed, I think the outfit with everything matching looked great
I've learned that not following the trend makes dressing up more fun. 😊
If you know what looks good on you and feeling comfortable with your style,it doesn't matter what people say 😊
I think you should wear what makes you feel the most confident. And also, don’t forget to live your best life 💕
You *clearly* missed the point or the audience this video is intended for.
Do you ever try to dress yourself but when you go to the mirror you DON'T feel confident and can't figure out what's not working? That's why fashion advice exists. Like any art form, there are rules that help and sometimes we break them once we know what we're doing.
Yes I agree. Wear what makes you feel great and you like…. Yup!!
Bottom line… we can wear what we want 😅
At least people from liberal countries could enjoy freedom wearing whatever they like even before this video.
True...who cares yeah
That first one is so true! I've had things from cheaper stores that are in mint condition and stuff from higher end brands that I don't wear anymore because they didn't hold up as well. Fabric composition is where it's at. I agree 💯
i still have my express legging/pants after 15 years. Actually that pair was the first thing I bought at Express
What fabric composition is the best, can you be more precise please?

Navy and black together are my favorite! So is navy and kelly or lime green.
I think you can wear any colour in any season though dark colours attract more heat so will make you feel hotter.
That's the reason for the rule

Heavy on the black and navy! I’ve always thought it was such a sophisticated color combination
I love black and navy together, also dark brown and black.
True!! I love black and navy - it’s such an elegant quiet luxury type of style ❤
No, I like my belt, shoes, and purse to all be matching. It usually bothers me when they aren't. 😬 If one thing doesn't match the other two, it at least has to match the shirt/dress, not the pants. 😐

Exactly 💯
Bang on as always - EXCEPT belt loops look terrible without a belt! Mind you as I agree with all of the rest of this I'm starting to think I might need
a rethink ....... 😊
I thought the same - definitely wear a belt 😅
So funny, I have really never been bothered by it
I love a smart belt. It pulls your look together.
I still think you need a belt when there are belt loops. It looked so much better with the belt. All your outfits looked really sharp. Nicely done
She looks amazing in all yhe looks
I agree...belt loops are there for a reason. If i dont want to wear abelt, id rather rrip the belt loops off 😅

Grace Kelly vibes very elegant ❤❤
I need the belt
Without it I just don’t feel put together
In high school, I got laughed at so badly for wearing black and navy, yet I felt so cute and put together.
People can be so mean :(
My mother told me I looked like a bruise
@@LouShirleywauw thats cold. You were onto something though. Actually have never heard of this style “rule” so you were fine😅
I wear a lot of black & navy together year round! I remember my mum saying cannot wear them together coming from her 70’s fashion design days…

That's no longer a rule either, I've read. But I like to include a mixed metals piece to tie it all together.
Agree with dark colours in summer, same with wearing boots in summer.😊
I always feel that if an item has carriers and is on display a belt is a must!

Hi Lydia
I'd rather see darker colours in summer, than cheap looking bright colours.
Love black n navy x
Those three matching leather items actually looked much nicer.
Black in the summer in 100 degree heat is a no no, high risk of heat stroke gurl
A very chic NYer once told me that black and navy are meant to be together and I agree. I always feel more put together with this combo!!
Cindy Crawford said she loved to wear navy, black and white together.
Please share where everything is from!! Especially the black and white trousers 😍

You mean the Australian summer is a kind of "winter season"?
Same in the Caribbean. We wear any colour, any time. It could be the hottest day, people would still be dressed in all dark colours.

Navy and Black is Gorgeous 💙🖤
Style rules that one needs to ditch-- stop wearing pyjama trousers!!! 🤪🤪
Thank you! They look TERRIBLE!
I often do a nude leather shoe with black leather and with the right outfit it works great!
Yup, you convinced me about black and navy a while ago. Now, I wear it all the time. Thanks!
I adore navy and black. However, wearing both in Alabama in August would be courting heat stroke.😊
I so agree with you. The fabric is so important. 💯. 😊
Thank you for the thumb's up for blue and black. I love it, too.
Loving these full leg pleated pants where can I purchase these love, love them.
Please share white pants link and all other outfits please 🙏🏻
It's great to hear that brand should not be prioritized over other more important criteria like fabric 👍
I love black-brown or black-navy combos lately
I am happy that those rules are gone! It makes life easier 😊

The reason people did notwear dark colours in summer is that dark colours absorbed heat from the sun. They didnt have air condioning.
Or work in freezing cold offices!

Loops without a belt does something to me lol
Dark colors make a neat silhouette any time of year. Blue on black is very upscale.
Dress up any basic look with a print scarf including the garment colors. Without the scarf you have not finished dressing for the public.
a thin scarf or a cummerbund can cover belt loops neatly.
Match shoes to the nearest garment.
Skirts look more upscale than slacks. I agree with the loose fit of these slacks. The tight leggings are overplayed. A little mystery is more attractive than full body shape reveals.
I also agree with the sensible shoes seen here. Heels typically injure the wearer, why do that to yourself voluntarily? Pain in your feet shows in everything you do. Sensible attractive shoes are part of your beautiful aura.
If you have light hair with dark ensemble, style your hair up with a dark clip, or add a dark hat. It can be a lightweight dark blue or black straw fedora.
Balance dark hair and a light color ensemble with hair up or back with a light color clip or hair scarf or a light color hat.
A solid color ensemble does best with some texture variety.
You have a few basics, you can multiply looks with smart accessories. Belts, bags, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and scarves should be classics, too.
Black and navy gives out grandma vibes. Grandma chic for sure
RULE #1 don’t listen to people do what you love to do ❤
Im keeping the advice on not wearing dark colors in the summer it makes you feel hotter when it’s already so hot
1 and 2 are so true :)
