There really isn't anything lazy about this other than letting the oven do some of the work. But watching the stove cook it all is a job in itself. This is one of my favorites for use with cabbage. Nice job, I could almost taste it.

I made this tonight but I halved the recipe...........it was very good. It was even better when I went back for seconds after it had cooled off. I substituted red bell peppers because that was all I had. I love cabbage and this is a keeper. I might slice up some Kielbasi sausage in the next batch ............so many options. That is a mighty big pan you have there............ :-)

This recipe looks delicious, but you won me over as a new subscriber when you used the smaller lid. Sometimes I just can't find the right size lid and just grab a bigger or smaller one and make it work. 😊
I just watched this video and I’m certainly going give this a go, it looks delicious 😋 one question if I may ask, I didn’t see you wash any of your ingredients, did you? Because even though some packages say pre washed, it’s always good practice to wash again before use. Probably me being paranoid when it comes to food hygiene but I have to know it’s clean, as many years ago I found a tiny slug in the water that I washed the cabbage in. You can’t be too careful when it comes to food.

Looks delicious! A great idea to reduce the work of making stuffed cabbage! Can we chop cabbage into bigger chunks and still get it to cook? How can I make a smaller amount for just 2 meals, looks like it makes so much!

Hi Cheryl - Yumm..... Looks great. No Rice? Hmm? I luv the fact that you did it all on top of the stove rather than having to turn on the oven to finish it off. During the summer, I avoid the oven as much as I can. It just hit me, why don't you use a higher pot, like the ones we use to cook pasta. That way you will have a lid for the pot AND it's much easier to stir all the ingredients in, without it splattering all over the place. Less clean up. Something to think about. I'm going to make my batch in an hour. Thx for the ideas. Only I'm going to add 1 cup of rice to the mixture with 2 cups of beef broth or a bouillon cube. I'm Polish descent (married to an Italian) and we add rice to our cabbage rolls. Your way is much easier, but I need the rice for that authentic East European flavour. I cook way to much Italian style foods. I miss my heritage foods at times. Wish me luck! Thank you for sharing. Yumm......

Hi Cheryl K - I made your recipe version combined with the rice as I mentioned in my first post, with the higher pot and it came out fabulous. I call it "cabbage roll casserole". I froze the un-used portion. A win win in this summer heat. No point making the air-conditioner work harder by turning on the oven and we save "money" on the hydro bills too, and it was done much quicker with your stove top way too! Thank you so much for the inspiration. I'm going to use your casserole method from here on in. Much easier & quicker. Less time in the kitchen. And the taste is just like the authentic cabbage rolls. The cabbage roll casserole tastes the same as if it was all rolled up the old fashioned way. Besides, people cut up the rolled version when on their plate, so why not make it the easy casserole way, not only for the cook, but for those eating it. Now they don't have to cut the rolls up. And, we have one less utensil to wash, the knife. lololol This is a win, win for all concerned. You have a Great day too!

Premium smoked sausage is a great addition to this recipe, and with a dash of worcestershire sauce, and add the cooked rice at the end. Yummm. ( I put my sausage in the food processer, and cook it with the ground meat. (use just a little tomato paste)
Cabbage rolls are supposed to have rice.. . but a tip here.. that won me my blue ribbon on Just a pinch recipes.. add a can of rotel tomatoes to the raw ground beef.. it tenderizes the meat makes it break up and small pieces but adds a ton of flavor.. :)
Thanks for this recipe. I couldn't find a cabbage big enough for rolls, so I got 2 small ones. So, chopping this up will be perfect. I'm going to use your recipe. I've got to figure out how to incorporate the rice. And, I'm going to do it in my Instant Pot.
JS - Read my post up top to see how I added the rice for that authentic cabbage roll filling. It came out so delicious. Just add 1 cup uncooked rice, 2 cups beef broth or bouillon cube after you follow Cheryl K's recipe and everything is in the pot. Nothing to it. Just remember to cover the pot. Use a high pot and put on low-medium, just like when you make rice alone.
It worked out fine, very easy, very tasty. I added one cup of rice (next time I might add more, plus more liquid). the one cup worked out just fine. Because I did it in the Instant Pot, I added a bit more liquid, but not that much more.
Looks good . But my self I would of added rice and grated carrots.. every one is different that’s what makes the world go round.. for ppl who don’t like rice have it on the side .

If you had a little ground cloves cinnamon and couple of tablespoons of brown sugar it would taste more like authentic Polish stuffed cabbage. Splash of Lemon 🍋 Juice it wouldn’t hurt either
This is basically what I do, except with an addition of about a quarter cup of parsley and a quarter cup of sour cream plus one cup of instant rice and a half cup of bread crumbs.
I think real cabbage rolls, are much quicker to make, then this video. The benefit would be you may get more cabbage, in your dish. When I do the stuffing for cabbage roll's, I'm going to put .ore cabbage in, less rice. Thanks for sharing.

Did I miss the spices/seasonings? Admittedly, I fast-forwarded a lot of the chopping, etc., but didn't see you add salt or pepper, let alone some more interesting spices like maybe paprika, omani, beef concentrate, wine, oregano, etc, etc.

Premium smoked sausage is a great addition to this recipe, and with a dash of worcestershire sauce, and add the cooked rice at the end. Yummm. ( I put my sausage in the food processer, and cook it with the ground meat. (use just a little tomato paste)

Cabbage rolls are supposed to have rice.. . but a tip here.. that won me my blue ribbon on Just a pinch recipes.. add a can of rotel tomatoes to the raw ground beef.. it tenderizes the meat makes it break up and small pieces but adds a ton of flavor.. :)

Thanks for this recipe. I couldn't find a cabbage big enough for rolls, so I got 2 small ones. So, chopping this up will be perfect. I'm going to use your recipe. I've got to figure out how to incorporate the rice. And, I'm going to do it in my Instant Pot.

JS - Read my post up top to see how I added the rice for that authentic cabbage roll filling. It came out so delicious. Just add 1 cup uncooked rice, 2 cups beef broth or bouillon cube after you follow
Cheryl K's recipe and everything is in the pot. Nothing to it. Just remember to cover the pot. Use a high pot and put on low-medium, just like when you make rice alone.

It worked out fine, very easy, very tasty. I added one cup of rice (next time I might add more, plus more liquid). the one cup worked out just fine. Because I did it in the Instant Pot, I added a bit more liquid, but not that much more.
Think that would be perfect over rice

If you had a little ground cloves cinnamon and couple of tablespoons of brown sugar it would taste more like authentic Polish stuffed cabbage. Splash of Lemon 🍋 Juice it wouldn’t hurt either

This is basically what I do, except with an addition of about a quarter cup of parsley and a quarter cup of sour cream plus one cup of instant rice and a half cup of bread crumbs.

I think real cabbage rolls, are much quicker to make, then this video. The benefit would be you may get more cabbage, in your dish. When I do the stuffing for cabbage roll's, I'm going to put .ore cabbage in, less rice. Thanks for sharing.

Did I miss the spices/seasonings? Admittedly, I fast-forwarded a lot of the chopping, etc., but didn't see you add salt or pepper, let alone some more interesting spices like maybe paprika, omani, beef concentrate, wine, oregano, etc, etc.
