- Moving a lot this summer. I have been a custodian for over 20 years. The purpose of this channel is to share some of my knowledge with you. I remember the feeling when I first became a custodian. I was given a set of keys, a radio and a badge. Didn't get any training whatsoever. Being a custodian is not rocket scientist knowledge. There are definitely things that a custodian needs to know. I feel this pain 😅 it's summer here at our high school I'm moving furniture, deep cleaning restrooms, classrooms and buffing floors after the people wax all for 12 an hour we start at 4am and finish our shift at 5pm it definitely sucks but got to keep going
Needed this! I'm a school janitor and want to get out of there so bad. It's a toxic place!
Teachers have so much unnecessary stuff! Love a minimalist teacher!
But they say they use it all. Then they move and say. I forgot I had that. Or I have 25 years worth of junk. Lol
You should have seen my wife's room... 20 years in the same room. Then move to the new school last year. Her and our kids packed her room up. I moved it. SOME is in her new room. Most is at our house in storage... I'm like get rid of it. She is like it has sentimental value... I'm like it's junk...when have you used it Last..she is like oh I dont know.... geez.
My wife is a teacher as well. That word Junk can get you in the dog house. Lol
I understand, doing custodial work for the past 14 years it does get frustrating at times!! Praying that your wife's health improves.
Hey atleasst you had central air conditioning. Last summer was very humid and sweaty with uniform clothes on🥵. 03 weeks vacation is amazing man!
my favorite is moving all of that with a side helping of plans have changed move it here instead

Hi I recently got hired for a custodian specialist for my school district I have zero experience and they were asking for 3 1/2 years of experience thank you for your videos!
Is there any training involved?
@@mrjeffthecustodian oh yeah definitely there’s training I’m also a little head because my girlfriends mom is a head custodian for an elementary school for the past 20 years my first day is on Monday when they hired me they knew I had no previous experience they just really liked me in the interview 😅
You will be fine. Just always be teachable. Even years down the road.

I didn't have training but I've been a "cleaner" for many years. I used to clean for a commercial cleaning company going into banks, hospitals, wherever they needed me
I am a high schooler who works for a neighboring school district in custodial for minimum wage luckily, minimum wage went up but you got a point if you paid us just a little bit more we’d probably be More motivated and there’d be more of us. I am the only one that District has seen in a long, long time that’s willing to work all year.
It's a manual labor job, it's only worth minimum wage. That's why you need to go to college or a trade school to eventually make more money than minimum wage.
Yes there have been days I was so tired. So tired I couldn’t even sleep good with pain in feet and Back. It is a very laborious job. I still have to say out of all the jobs I have had. This is the best one. Kinda my own boss.

I work at a collage now. So bigger.
We have a summer helper....WE are basically babysitting him. Having to constantly tell him to redo what he just did. Plus constantly tell him he can't do a hour and a half lunches.

Totally understand this myself, school custodian 6th year. They recently changed our positions to systemwide which means we can go to any school at anytime. All new hires are contracted by year no more tenure.

Pick up something that weighs 70 Pounds.
