He didn't work on his drug issue. He just replaced the need with a woman. He needed to heal and recover for real first.
Replacing the desire gives the illusion you are doing better but if you can't be okay without something replacing the issue you're not okay.

I still can't believe she left her son behind to move to New York and live in some random apartment when neither of yall had a real concrete plan or even a place to stay. And I was surprised that she married him given all his child support problems- now they coming for your pockets too whatever money she had. Love them, be with them, but do not just up and marry them, not without a lawyer, not when they have all this financial baggage. It will benefit the both of you in the long run!

ya know the point of rehab, why so many people end up there time and time again, is to teach you that your sobriety is on you. It's all on you. Every single day you have to be strong enough to make the choice for yourself to remain sober, no matter what else is going on in your life, even when it gets hard, even when people abandon you, even when you're tempted. Your sobriety is your responsibility. So by not going to rehab and instead finding a person to place the weight of his sobriety on Rich is pulling another classic move of the addict to avoid accepting responsibility for their lives and truly doing the work to get clean.
