There's a very strong (because I'm not her psychiatrist and she's never been diagnosed I'm not comfortable doing so) possibility that Sky is bipolar. Watching her behavior and knowing her mother has been diagnosed with bipolar depression it would be a very safe bet. I think that because Sky typically displays what would be considered her depressive states atypically, through aggression and high irritability (the periods where she's seemingly angry at everyone for no reason and ready to brawl) it gets overlooked but she had a lot of work she needed to do before she could pursue a relationship with her sons that wouldn't play out the way it did.

Sky had a lot of healing to do before she could have a healthy relationship with her sons. It's still so heart breaking to watch knowing where things stand now, but she had to forgive herself before she could really have them in her life. And Genesis is just like her, just like her.
