      Finally, common sense. This mother was desperate to put a decent home over her children’s head and the landlord took advantage of the situation.

    On one hand, the landlord is free from having to deal with Section 8 tenants. On the other hand, this is all kinds of messed up.

    What's ridiculous is that in winning the case she actually loses as she now has to move and may not get a good place to live. And the landlord seems to pretty much get off scott free, she just no longer a part of the program.

  • @clubalbert
    @clubalbert 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    She did not get her money back and the landlord was not convicted of any crime and Housing Authority basically said we're not going to give you any more money but you can keep the money we already gave you. If the tenant would have paid one pennies short of the payment then the tenant would have immediately been terminated from Housing Authority and gone homeless.

    While working in the social service environment, I'm finding too many landlords that require tenants to pay a cash security deposit on top of what they already got from the Section 8 voucher, which is not even written into the contract. Greed and fraud should not be part of the Section 8 public funding of their properties.

  • @jovangarcia6084

    They need to be more strict. I live in housing but the neighbor constantly has bass from his music so loud it knocks frames off the wall. The stench or marijuana is beyond overpowering my son has asthma. If they can afford to smoke that shit, drive a Mercedes and the other neighbour can afford to have 5 cars in the property (1driver) they can afford to pay fair share rent. It's disgusting how they abuse the system and the authorities don't want to do a damn thing. I picked up a second full time job so we can afford fair share rent just to get away from this bullshit. I have videos of him threatening to shoot his children because they took his shrooms. CPS took the kids for a week now he has them back. The system is a failure people that really need the help can't get it while leeches that abuse the system catch break after break after break.

  • @ocsrc

    Almost all people that rent to low-income and get money from the government demand extra money from the tenants illegally this is a known fact that everyone deals with who is on the HUD program.
    And there is no penalty to the landlord all that happens is all the people that were living in the apartments this person was renting now or on the street
    They need to put some teeth into the wall to allow for the landlord to be arrested and go to prison and then this would stop happening but they will never do that just like if an employer steals from you there's nothing you can do because the labor department has no teeth but if you take a penny from your employer you go to jail for embezzlement and larceny and 12 other charges
    The system is skewed so badly towards the rich it's disgusting

    • @phantomthiefblood
      @phantomthiefblood 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ocsrc Send the landlord to prison and all tenants end up on the street. Fining the landlord or opening the tenants that aren't federally assisted to allow lawsuits to a certain extent would do more good for everyone involved.

      I agree with you, however there are cases in which that family was able to care for all of their children but then tragedy struck, maybe due to disease, got fired, disability, medical bills...we can't really judge something we don't know. I had an uncle with 5 children and he could afford all of them, had a great business, great house everything was good, until he got sick. He had to stop working, sold his business to pay his medical bills, ended up losing his house, then one of his daughters was in a car accident, had to pay those bills. All of a sudden they needed welfare. Things happen. I do agree that people that can't afford so many children shouldn't have them, but just because someone can't afford them now doesn't mean that was always true, and it could change in the future also.

    Some of us...Americans that is, decide to take steps to become more self-sufficient.
    Unfortunately, one of those steps might include pushing aside your pride and apply for government assistance.
    Temporarily.
    The act of someone taking advantage of your need for assistance should be the main focus of this video in particular.
    No...I don't think its okay to let our government pay our dues to society indefinitely. But isn't it part of our American duties and responsibilities to help one another? Especially if it might be to help someone who WANTS to be on the same side as you...protesting and paying ur hard earned tax dollars?

    It's difficult to find housing when the family size is larger requiring more bedrooms. The Housing Authority gives clients a budget for housing. The client cannot move into a home over that budget unless the additional rent does not exceed a total of 40 percent of the clients income. I think the landlord and the Tennant had an agreement to make an additional payment in cash then the landlord got greedy and raised the deposit amount accordingly. This is all about money and now there is 1 less home available to low income families.

      When I was in college and working fulltime a minimum wage job at once I still qualified for food stamps and housing (my first husband died so I was a widow) and we had one child in wedlock so I needed a step up.
      But now it's been 18 years since I got the help and a landlord myself on top of my career.
      Don't paint everyone with the same brush because not all recipients of assistance are proud of it or see it as a lifestyle.
      I used to be ashamed but at the same flip of the coin, I was then like now a taxpayer so was I a scab?

For 1200 2 bedrooms slumlord put the house for section 8 while I was paying full the others was paying half of the amount and the government pay the other half thanks to god I be moving on September 2. That’s why politicians want to raise taxes, help the people that do nothing. Then those people vote for whoever raised them because it helped. Sociology in college taught me only thing that more taxes mostly goes to benefit people in need and encourage others to do so as well.

      Except she was receiving unemployment. That means she was not only working, but that she lost her job to circumstances out of her control (such as relocation, closing, etc). As a result while on unemployment (which requires you actively seek employment and prove you’re doing so) her I come bracket drastically changed. She is not milking a system and she is an example of why systems like this are in place. Not everyone who receives assistance is milking the system. And while she was working she paid her taxes, and unemployment is taxed as well so she’s at a lower income bracket as unemployment only pays a portion of what you made while working, and still being taxed....

    We have section 8 tenants too. We raise by sending notices to both tenant and housing authority with more than 60 day notice and “research” containing their own reports of the average rents for similar properties and area. We’ve never had a problem

    This isn’t really big news...alot of landlords here in Las Vegas try to pull the same crap 💩!!! Except there’s some of us that are super familiar with the rules n such like me lol 😂 I’ve been on this for 17yrs just me & my cat 🐈. If they piss me off then either report them to housing authority or go to supervisor. Those that think 💭 they can get away with stuff like this usually get caught. Pretty hard to keep a good program going if you got “reports” on you lol 😂. I believe it’s after the 3rd complaint etc then they let you go...your SOL!!!!😱😳😱😂🤣🙃

  • @georgesmart239
    @georgesmart239 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are upset because of what the landlord did. Not upset enough to miss a meal evidently. I wonder how much in food stamps she gets with 6 kids?!?! $41 monthly for rent, plus assistance for utility bills as most public housing and I'm sure $0 for food!! Does she do anything other than have kids? I am sure the government picks up the hospital bill for that and all the doctor visits the kids will have. Then they will follow suit and have baby moms and dads. The cycle will continue on and on until someone is held accountable. I don't care if your black or white. Stop creating kids you cannot afford to keep up financially on your own. If you have time to lay up with someone 6 times and make babies....get a job and pay your own way!!
