  • Conchas / Pan Dulce is a type of Mexican sweet bread with a sugar coating typically dipped in coffee and hot chocolate when eaten, sometimes even in soda (Sprite, Coke) by youths who enjoy them. Miguel of Don Paco Lopez Panaderia in Sunset Park, Brooklyn talks about how his family bakery has been making them for the past 50 years coming from a long lineage of bakers. He talks about how his his father was taught by his grandfather how to bake starting from the the age of 6 and the struggles they have had as a business throughout the years.

    Not that long ago you can buy a whole bag of Mexican bread for only a few bucks..
    Those days are over.
