A note on doubling the recipe:
I used about 6 1/2 cups of flour for the dough and probably about 1 1/4 cups of shortening for the streusel and they turned out as good as the single batch.
This is about amazing recipe and video. Thank you so much!

@@VillaCocina I really love watching your channel. However, I wasn't ambitious enough to try and bake conchas. However, I did visit my favorite panaderia in East Los Angeles, called El Gallo. It truly is the best panaderia in Southern California I've ever had. Their cuernos and ojos de buey are also absolutely divine! 😋 One of these days I'll get around to trying to bake a concha.

You are right, I smiled when I handled the dough. It was the best texture ever.
My first time making them and they were perfect. My Conchas were light and tender, with a delicate hint of sugar and , I used, Madagascar Vanilla.
I grew up with the 'Pan Man' bringing fresh bakery items to the neighborhood. The Conchas and Pink Cookies were always my favorite.

Making today, really excited, brings back memories…BUT, I did have trouble making the streusel. Added all ingredients in mixer but was way too sticky and not thick like yours. Tips? I added more flour and it improved but I think I added too much, kept breaking apart when trying to make into flat piece for topping on dough

Keep mixing! Mine was like this too so I decided to keep mixing it and it eventually formed its shape

Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. It was so easy to follow and what’s best...the conchas came out AMAZING. My mom said it’s the best conchas she’s ever had. That is HUGE! I want to make mini conchas using your recipe. Any tips for cooking time?

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing recipe with us!! I have tried it several times and I love it very much however I am wondering if you happen to have the measurements in weight? I have noticed that this recipe Has to be very very exact for it to turn out. Of course when it does turn out it’s the best.

I love the flavor of this recipe I actually
Blended some whole cinnamon sticks and added it to the mixture before forming dough. Tasted amazing but I still couldn’t get them to rise like yours! :( they were a bit flatter

Sorry for giving you a notification for this a month later but this is also good for anyone else reading your comment: I’m not sure if you added the cinnamon directly to the bread dough but cinnamon actually inhibits yeast, which is why yeasted bread recipes like cinnamon rolls have you add the cinnamon paste to the surface of the dough and roll it up instead of mixing it into the dough. Our ancestors used spices to preserve food, so it’s cool that some actually do limit yeast and bacteria!

I want to make these tomorrow but I have a question about the salt should I still use 1/4 tsp if all I have is iodized table salt? Or should I half it or maybe even use like two thirds of the 1/4 tsp? I really don’t wanna mess this up lol

Bought some this morning from a bakery and I was so disappointed. I think they were selling store bought conchas, and were super dry. I love conchas and I am going to try your recipe when it gets cooler here in Texas. Thanks for step by step instructions!

Holy shit these are fucking good. I just made them and my wife told me she’s not buying them from the store anymore. Thank you. So freakn moist. I used unsalted butter instead of shortening and they came out perfect with a light buttery flavor. Bomb!

do you use super fine sugar for the streusel? mine was pretty gritty after creaming it with the shortening for quite some time.

Some of my Mexican friends, eat these things on a daily basis. They say that, These should be the "Mexican's" or at least state's sweet bread lol They ADORE these things..
I do see these steps, are Massive... Not sure I can make these.. But, in the meantime, I can always give my friends money, so they can get them wherever they buy them lol.
I am here however, for your videos Villa Cocina. Thank you..
