- How To Use Spray Can For Professional Paint Job thats easy and awesome. When you wanted to paint with a spray can and have it look professional this video is for you!.
I first start with A Deglosser to dull the paint and get it ready for yo to spray with spray-can. Paint Deglosser prepares dirty or glossy surfaces for new paint or finish. It eliminates the need for sanding and cleans surfaces to minimize chipping, cracking and peeling between old and new finishes.Works on latex or oil-base paints, enamels, varnishes and other finishes Saves time & mess-easier than sanding Increases adhesion. Helps new paint bond to old finishes Cleans and removes dirt, stains, grease & wax make sure to read directions on all products you use.
Have lots of clean cool water on hand because after every sanding you need to wipe it clean. That way the spray-can paint will stick and have a smooth finish. Start with 600 grit sand paper and work your way up to 3000 grit paper.Sand in small circular movements. Making sure to keep surface and sand paper wet.
Next tape off all unwanted surfaces you do not want the spray-can paint to be painted. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต

You did a great job! I am doing my moped this way, I had painted it and then I sanded with 1000 grit then I went to 1500 but I don't like that it dulls the paint so I am going to respray it and only going to use the 1500 and then a 2000 grit and then the rubbing compound and then the wax hopefully it will turn out as nice as yours. But I am tempted to use a clear coat and then do the sanding treatment. What do you think?Cheers
I've watched this video probably 10 times over just because I want to study everything I can about something before doing it myself. I just wanted to take a moment to say that I crack up every time at the 4 minute mark, "I'll even look at it". Every time cracks me up. :)
I followed this video to restore the finish on a 60 year old aluminum, scissor armed LUXO lamp. The lamp is a classic, the kind used by artists, graphic designers, architects and engineers in the 1950's. It came out great. Thanks!
Tips to fellow amateurs from what I learned: if you use Rust-O-Leum, let it dry at least the full 48 hours indicated on the can. If you try to hustle it, you will get an alligator hide finish, like I did, and will have to sand it off and start over. Even though some Rust-O-Leum paints incorporate primer, use a straight primer anyway. If you use a combination primer / finish paint, it will stick much better. The combination primer / finish paint will also cover any minor "sand thru" spots you create during the sanding process. Spray can painting is a long process and requires patience, you cannot shorten it. Also, don't be afraid to bear down on the rubbing compound, it smoothed out a lot of that very fine grain "orange skin" finish that the spray can left, even after the last 3000 grit sanding round.

Thanks, great video Dave, such a sense of accomplishment! I am restoring an 89 Honda HS621 snowblower. On the plastic Shroud and black metal on the auger housing I have done a ton of work to it and the metal parts were covered in pretty heavy rust, so I used an angle grinder with a wire cup brush for the first time and it turned out great, between the engine work and the body work I put a lot of time into it, I was in the shop half the night sometimes just excited to get through the project but as soon as i got to the painting part, I have been avoiding it like the plague lol bc the last time I tried to spray paint something it was a disaster and looked like crap, I feel more confident seeing someone do this with no experience in it, and it turned out fantastic! then some pro that has done it a thousand times! "ya sure it's easy" haha thanks Dave.
just saw this as I'm painting a sports bike tank. I remember helping my father prep cars but its awesome how great it looks by hand. Buffers can easily burn through clearcoat and paint if you're not used to the equipment.
I can't wait to do that to my Suzuki boulevard thank you for the video I will do the same thing because I can't afford to pay the professional.

do yourself a favor and buy a maguires sanding block for $5
nice diy video, another trick that works well when wet sanding is put a drop or two of dish soap like dawn leaves a super smooth surface plus is good for getting the oils that comes from your hands

It looks so good. It's shining because you used polish, but using polish thinned the paint. You then should have used clear coat to protect that beautiful paint.
really dude what are you so happy about people do this everyday really it's a no brainer, Its a give me it's a simple process .I don't know why you're all tickled pink about? glad to see you're proud of your accomplishment or the job you done but really really people do this everyday and have better results ...believe me you can get that paint to Luster just a tad more for the average Joe good job!!

I did this many years ago to a 1981 Honda CB750K, The very first day I got the bike on the road I had to put gas. Yes I spilled gas on my new spray can job. It had come out so nice. It shined. The gasoline just melted the paint really bad. I had to do it all over again. Why did this happen? Do all paints from a can do this? Melt if you spill gasoline on them?

It's a misconception that spray cans don't work for good finish quality. They do. They just require A LOT more work than a professional paint shop would take.
Uh.. misconception? It's the truth. Spray cans will NEVER and can NEVER come out like a single stage or bc/cc. It's completely idiotic to claim that spray cans can offer a good quality finish. This is coming from someone who's family been in the automotive business for over 80 years. I literally cringe when I see people trying to rattle can their cars or other parts. The paint will never be as clean or durable, and NO CLEAR COAT out of a spray can can ever compare to one sprayed out of a gun.
yeah my dad restores vintage triumphs and although he usually has the frame powder coated, I've seen plenty of frames and triple trees and foot pegs he rattle canned and they looked better than the powder coat.
BLACKFYRE Well, I don't care for how long your family has been in the car business, that clearly doesn't make you less clueless about this topic, and you've clearly never properly painted something using rattle cans, so you're talking out of your ass. I could show you a project painted with rattle cans and make you bet that it was done in a high end paint shop.
By the way, a clear coat painted out of a gun and out of a can is exactly the same thing after you sand it and polish it. It's gonna look the same and be equally durable. As I said, I'm not denying that a gun will make things much EASIER and QUICKER, but with some work, you'll get the same results with a rattle can.
you can have the same paint mixed up in a spray can so the durability argument is busted there. It will take more time and a little more finish work but you can make a spray can paint job come out looking killer for pennies on the dollar. Am I going to paint a show bike with a rattle can, absolutely not. But a bike I ride and beat on all year yea, May even paint it every winter being its so cheap.
Im not a huge fan of flat colors, could definitely use some pinstriping or decals BUT the paint itself looks awesome !!! great job man

First off it did come out fantastic and ive used that type of paint before i think its better choice than Rustoleum or Krylon enamels. Id be interested to know how its holding up to abrasion from normal use. Considering painting motorcycles is thousand and thousands of dollars thats one for the working guys
Use acetone if u spray to thick,also if u mistakenly spray plastic it will remove your mistake and leave the old paint unharmed. And soak your hands in it to remove paint

Great job but why did you not hit it with the clear and then water sand it this looks pretty great but after the clear it wouldn't it would had been more glossy just curious but thanx for making this video even I need to paint my royal Enfield 1996 and thought how will it turn out your looks great I think I should give it a try and can always learn from the mistakes thanx👍

Still needs clear coat. Won't last long at all in Vegas sun without it, plus it gives a much more uniformed sheen and protective layer. Well done though.
wax and degreaser first and then a tack rag is cheap and works way better than cold water on a rag

My car is 36 years old, that despite waxing it, the paint has just worn off. There was a small rust spot so I hit it with rustoleum high gloss. Then I used up the whole can, and then another, and another. It turned out better than the polishing glaze, and wax. After two rains the wax is gone, and the finish returns to ancient. So to hell with waxing. What have I been thinking all these years?!!
So many people think you have to have a clear coat, the clear is the same as the paint in these cases so I can't see how it will help it last longer?
It wasn't until 1984 that GM started with BC CC and by the early 1990's the complete line-up was BC CC. Yeah I know that there were some BC CC lacquer before that but not many.
So before the 90's what do you think cars were painted with and they held up good?

says light coats and then sprays the same spot with 8 layers...1:40.....dont sand in circles.....take the fender off the bike to do it right and not half ass. It will take the same amount of time as taping it off and will be a much better job.
