When my son was little, I got him a battery powered motorcycle, that really looked real. A friend of mine was a custom painter. He painted the tank on it black, then used some stencils to airbrush red skulls on it, then shot gold metal flake over it. Then he taped off a flame pattern and sprayed branydywine over the rest. It was awesome. It was bandywine metal flake with gold metal flake flames with ghost skulls that showed up at certain angles. That was the coolest thing a boy could have gotten for his 4th birthday. He also got a motorcycle jacket with a Harley patch on it.
Pay my truck mine C1 yeah, I like this truck better super new new new truck, different color Jerry color thank you buddy 13:08 I need to blocked first and C1 cherry color red
Well, after 5 months.. It's due for another paintjob! I don't have many basecoats to mix, but i have some pearls and a gallon of clear. That should do the trick
Hey I have a question. Everytime I spray over a rattle can paint with regular automotive paint it cracks and the rattle can paint below it. What am I doing wrong because I see yours didn't do that ?? Any info would be greatly appreciated lol
I did a guitar that was very interesting. Rattle can gold base, Rustoleum gold glitter, then I started with that Duplicolor Paint Shop Clear Coat that you get from Auto Zone. I then got some Voodoo Violet candy concentrate off eBay, and mixed it into some of the clear, and shot it over the gold glitter. It turned out amazing! The most difficult part of the whole thing was finding a combination of paints that didn’t react with each other, but it was a novice way to achieve a seriously cool old school, low rider/chopper/hot rod style look without anything more intensive than a $15 Harbor Freight spray gun.
YES !! I love painting guitar’s even though I often play the boring looking ones. Same with building other peoples sound system’s. I don’t like attention but enjoy creating it for others mostly; kind of fitting that I was the bass player for many years 🤣 they guy the camera skips over the most.
Thats the classic combination. Usually it's sprayed over gold because that gives it the warm glow. I think it would be a bit flat over a solid color like grey primer. Good experiment, thanks agin GT these ongoing combinations are a great resource.
I love this series. Your videos are what inspired me to paint my car initially and I was really impressed with how well it worked out. Now I think I wanna do it again lol keep up the great work!!
I like to go easy on the pearl. Gold is richer than aluminum. I did candy red over bright silver and then thought, why not over large metal flake? Then I thought why not white base with large silver flake but not too heavy, 70’s muscle car vibes. Painting fun! Even though I have done lots of painting I still enjoy watching you experiment. Thanks
My friend had a 69 Chevelle it was a rust bucket he made it into a nice looking bondo buggy. He did paint it candy apple Red with a lot of metal flake . As much of a bondo buggy it was I Loved that color on that car. His story was a bus pulled out in front of him, scrap after 6 years of work and lots of bondo and paint.
We had a red tri-coat we used on the challenger at the factory, the red base coat had the metallic in it, the second coat was like a candy, then clear. Thanks for all the experimenting you do.
I appreciate all your content. Time to keep pushin. Next project. Im tuned in. I had a feeling you had something special comin up. Can't wait to see this new paint job.
GT lets see some marbleized paint. Your subscribers will love that! The silver over black base is my favorite. Did my buddies caddy complete with it. SICK! There's all different variations you can experiment with.😉✌
Red is a color that has very dense pigment concentration, which yields great color saturation. Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise. Larry Landis
To me on video the red candy over the gold has a very very minor darker shade, but has a more deeper warmer tone to it. Over the silver it has more od a flatter washed out tone to it. Best way for me to describe it would be. If you painted the fender one uniform candy red, taped off the left side and left it out in the sun for several months and the right side faded slightly.
White is great for keeping the candy a brighter hue. A real crazy look is candy over faux chrome. I’m thinking of doing a candy blue over patterns utilizing different reflective qualities for a boogie van project, also root beer brown and gold’s blah blah, decisions decisions 🥳😁 I’ve never done a boogie van style. Mostly single or two tone or goofy flames. Should be interesting. Was going to do flames on a Ford Pinto wagon from the back forwards but life got in the way of that one and I passed the car along. Seen someone else do a sedan and I was thrilled. 😂 fun times .
Very cool video. Honestly, I know painting is more involved, but you took the fear out of trying small projects and getting bitchin results. Thank you, sir!
I sprayed a green candy a very long time ago and it permanently stained the cup on my cheap harbor freight gun. I even cleaned it out right away with acetone.
the mazda 46v candy red uses a pink-orange metallic base and red candy, my personal favorite is using an orange-bronze metallic base with pink candy on top… same candy red look, just better.
Id like to see how it works with that chrome as a base, it’s supposed to be chrome but only thing chrome is the cap but once it dries it makes an awesome silver color, I really think it’d give you the depth that candy is supposed to show 👍🏼
I would try the gold metal flake. In the clear. And use just a very little. So the car would look red. But in the sun have a gold shimmer. Or like a ghost gold effect.. the ghost red over black is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I see you're into tattoos. Fun fact: The highest quality tattoo inks used to come from King Cobra blood. In India, it's cooked down and filtered (distilled) for permanent inks.
Interesting experiment, ... if a much greater candy / sparkle effect is required, use a very large grain of silver basecoat ... the candy really "pops" then.
It was near impossible in the video to tell if it came out different from side to side. That said, it wasn't hard to see where the transition was. I've always thought that if I were to paint my car after priming it with light gray primer, it would look different than if I used the brown primer. This confirms for me the difference would be there, even if it's subtle. Thanks!
i liked this video that red looks amazing. if i could make a suggestion try recording on pro mode and turn down the exposure to see if maybe it catches the colors closer to what you see. nice video though!!! big props!!
So doing the math, if your using 1 gram per 5oz, you'd use 6.4 grams per quart? So a 25 gram jar would mix with a sprayable gallon? Got 5 grams of Zen garden, 25 grams Monitor lizard, 5 grams sushi roll on the way. Taping off as I wait. Excited for something new! Curious about the black pigments I saw on there site, and how they do over colors and White.
This may seem strange to you but I can see the differance in the base coats! I can tell the differance! The Gold side is much deeper and rich looking than the Silver! The Gold is the better under coat!
Looks a little bright for brandy wine. Maybe it’s the camera. The part you did with the black base is closer to what I’m used to seeing first Brandy Wine.
5:49 I saw a body shop video where they were painting in that color on a Mazda and they used a gold base coat and a red (I think it was ruby red) candy coat.
You are doing a great job with the colors and pearls. I’m thinking of a bronze copper can you help me. That’s the original color of the car it’s a 71 Chevelle. PS. Help Please. Thxs. Keep up the amazing work, and can’t wait for your car next.😊
Everything was going great but you should have added some clear to the candy red so it would be more transparent. Try it again I was real interested in a transparent red over the gold and silver. I went back to the first coat that is how it should look when finished. The gold side was a vibrant red that I ❤. Silver side kinda dull. Should have stopped right there
Another Awesome video!! I have learned a lot from watching your videos. It's amazing to me how you change one thing and you get a completely different results, especially when you add pearl. So if I ever paint a vehicle I had better write down each step so I get the same results every time.

The red paint Mazda uses is by far my favorite red paint color ever.
Agree 100%
Same here
Soul Red Crystal
That red looks so deep you could almost swim in it 😂
I’m not a huge fan of red but have a soft spot for candy and WoW Mazda nailed that one.
Well, after 5 months.. It's due for another paintjob!

Love that candy paint, only ever seen once in person, a friend spent lots of money back in the 70s for his Camero to be candy apple red 👍👍
I had a ‘76 Harley painted candy brandy wine. It was a beautiful color that got a lot of looks.
I like to go easy on the pearl. Gold is richer than aluminum. I did candy red over bright silver and then thought, why not over large metal flake? Then I thought why not white base with large silver flake but not too heavy, 70’s muscle car vibes. Painting fun!

That section of black with the candy.... its almost like Buicks chocolate... very pretty
My brother-in-law has a 2023 Miata MX5 in Soul Red Crystal Metallic. AMAZING color!
I appreciate all your content. Time to keep pushin. Next project. Im tuned in. I had a feeling you had something special comin up. Can't wait to see this new paint job.
Love to see ghost flames .
GT lets see some marbleized paint. Your subscribers will love that! The silver over black base is my favorite. Did my buddies caddy complete with it. SICK! There's all different variations you can experiment with.😉✌
You should paint and hang a bunch of car parts in your shop. You can see all your work and get new ideas.
Someone needs to donate unwanted fenders 😁, they are not worth anything as scrap.
Red is a color that has very dense pigment concentration, which yields great color saturation.
Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise.

Ruri looked awesome. I did a fender with it and sushi roll. Sushi roll is a lot of green. Ruri starts blue and changes to purples
The sushi roll is nice! Going to look awesome on the car as a complete paint job.
Absolutely love the way that brandywine turned out!!!

Best way for me to describe it would be. If you painted the fender one uniform candy red, taped off the left side and left it out in the sun for several months and the right side faded slightly.
You got it, this is why the classic combo is gold with red candy.
Years ago my dad painted a candy maroon over white on a Chevy van. This reminds me of that.

Thanks - was wondering how the eye candy pigment worked with automotive clear- nice job!
Candy paint glows in the sun so nice
Glad to see some candy. It would be cool if you did some flake, like OG Roth metal flake
Soul red crystal 😏 that’s where I got the idea to try the gold under- except they use a rose gold. Looks absolutely mental in hard sunlight
I’m not a fan of red autos but that looks great
The Brandywine looked outstanding on its own
Very cool video. Honestly, I know painting is more involved, but you took the fear out of trying small projects and getting bitchin results. Thank you, sir!
That blood red paint was cool. I wish I could have you do that on my 81 Eldorado.
Thank you so much for doing all these test with spray paint I’m learning a lot.
the red pearl over black looks like a root beer brown on camera
I agree. The Ghost Red over the black is a root beer brown color. I would like see a bigger sample of the Ghost Red over black.
The ghost red over black was cool.
I sprayed a green candy a very long time ago and it permanently stained the cup on my cheap harbor freight gun. I even cleaned it out right away with acetone.
Same! My cup stayed stained with the red candy, even tho I cleaned it with acetone and carb cleaner
I like the black with the candy best. From my iPad I couldn’t notice a difference between the silver or the gold.
When spraying your clear coat was your fan pattern wide open also what was your pressure set at
the mazda 46v candy red uses a pink-orange metallic base and red candy, my personal favorite is using an orange-bronze metallic base with pink candy on top… same candy red look, just better.
That reminds me of a great tangerine metallic color that would be a interesting fade perhaps.
You guys make me want to paint again 🤩
Yes, I remember the first time I saw that Mazda color on an suv! I looked it up when I got home!
Id like to see how it works with that chrome as a base, it’s supposed to be chrome but only thing chrome is the cap but once it dries it makes an awesome silver color, I really think it’d give you the depth that candy is supposed to show 👍🏼
Enjoy your trying different combinations 👍
I would try the gold metal flake. In the clear. And use just a very little. So the car would look red. But in the sun have a gold shimmer. Or like a ghost gold effect.. the ghost red over black is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The gold primer makes the red a rivcher color to my eyes and the silver makes it a bit duller to me. Ghost Red over black looks really good.
I painted a 1994 Honda vf750 magna with a rich silver metallic coat a red oxidized candy on top it was beautiful
love seeing the different experiments . Do you know of a good clear coat for the duplicolor paint shop ? Thanks
I see you're into tattoos.

Interesting experiment, ... if a much greater candy / sparkle effect is required, use a very large grain of silver basecoat ... the candy really "pops" then.
Can you do the black cherry pearl over a tan base do a sample on the fender
The ghost red really popped on the black. I can’t stand the color black but that ghost look great on it
It was near impossible in the video to tell if it came out different from side to side. That said, it wasn't hard to see where the transition was. I've always thought that if I were to paint my car after priming it with light gray primer, it would look different than if I used the brown primer. White is the best base coat for a true candy paint
Have you tried black?
@kellyarnett4062 Yes, I think it makes the candy too dark for me and takes away from the candy effect of the paint
I'd really like to see the ghost gold put over a black and white split panel like you did here.
What about candy with a filer with the pearl together to see what it looks like.
i liked this video that red looks amazing. if i could make a suggestion try recording on pro mode and turn down the exposure to see if maybe it catches the colors closer to what you see. nice video though!!! big props!!

That candy was beautiful
Love the videos bro learning slot on painting and spray painting
I would like to see the jungin silver over white! Cheers!
The candy red over a copper or brown would be so rad.
Hello. I think your test fenders will be 4 inches thick when you are all done experimenting 😃 All joking aside, Stay safe, great video
5:49 I saw a body shop video where they were painting in that color on a Mazda and they used a gold base coat and a red (I think it was ruby red) candy coat.
12:23 i like that one best 🙂
I practice these colors on my model cars I like silver under green and purple also 👌
I'd be adding some black candy to darken it up.
Is that just a practice fender..??
Nicely done, keep up the good work
You’re not gonna get a different effect with a basecoat, you should use candy concentrate then the difference is night and day
I agree. A true candy is mostly toner and very little pigment, and you will see a difference between the two colors of base. Love this channel, btw!
How long after you put on the Rustoleum paint do you do the clear coat, and do you only do 1 coat or Rustoleum?
You are doing a great job with the colors and pearls. I’m thinking of a bronze copper can you help me. That’s the original color of the car it’s a 71 Chevelle. PS. Help Please. Thxs. Keep up the amazing work, and can’t wait for your car next.😊
Man, you are one talented dude, thanks for tthis!
Great video like always. Could you do a video of emerald green with some kind eye candy sprayed on it?
What would happen if you use more reducer and less coats?
I wonder what a brandy wine candy over a black base with the senchi red in a clear would look like
Been thinking bout doing my s10 2 tone using white with a pearl and like orange with some orange Pearl kinda like the lambo orange
That would look sweet
I subscribe my friend! If you keep showing paint tips I’m hooked!
You would tell the difference out in the sun... Those lights are okay in a pinch, but they cannot come close to how the sun allows you to see.
I am thinking of blue pearl over black rapture liner on my jeep. What results you think I'll get
Something tells me you might have seen a different with direct sunlight. The silver side looked slightly lighter and cleaner
Btw great colour combination 👍
The gold side is a darker and richer looking than the silver. I can see the differance just looking at it on You Tube.
I have just started watching you videos. What size is the spoon you use to add your pearl to the clear test fenders?
Everything was going great but you should have added some clear to the candy red so it would be more transparent. Try it again I was real interested in a transparent red over the gold and silver. I went back to the first coat that is how it should look when finished. The gold side was a vibrant red that I ❤. Silver side kinda dull. Should have stopped right there
How has the victory red that you did on the silverado held up?
Awesome support from
New Zealand 🇳🇿 and
Cook Islands 🇨🇰
Another Awesome video!! I have learned a lot from watching your videos. It's amazing to me how you change one thing and you get a completely different results, especially when you add pearl. So if I ever paint a vehicle I had better write down each step so I get the same results every time.
Do you get a reaction from the rust oleum with reducer
This is cool experimentation 😮
over the gold is sweet
Pink or candy ghost over silver if there’s such a thing!
Thanks for sharing bro! It was interesting.
Can you try something close to Jade green pearl over white base. Thanks
Once the candy becomes a basecoat it’s no longer transparent like candy concentrates
Awesome work.
Yes you can tell the difference, gold darker, silver lighter!🤷🏽♂️
Nice jefe! Knowledge...one love
I almost found out the expensive way the primer color makes a difference
we paint a lot of brandywine in Texas...SS HOUSTON,TX
