  • Active Inference Insights welcomes Mahault Albarracin onto the show for its second episode. Mahault is a PhD candidate in cognitive computing at the University of Quebec at Montreal and the Director of Product at VERSES. Together, she and Darius traverse the complex plains of epistemic communities, social scripts and artificial intelligence, all from the lens of active inference.

❤🎉🎉🎉This is the best layman's explanation of active inference i have ever listened to. Thanks Ma.

Hey Mahault, what drives your study of AIF as applied to social sciences. Is it purely epistemic or is it to potentially use the gadget of the AIF framework to influence its bayesian mechanics?

@@sharif1306 I'm not sure I understand the question exactly. But I believe these ideas can be used to reduce harm, say because of misinformation

@@mayoai197 when you model the bayesian mechanics of particles or persons in a simulation you can also learn how to influence them via various interventions.

@@sharif1306 technically you could although we are very far from that

@@mayoai197 actually I guess we do it implicitly already as active inferencing agents doing our own niche construction. 😀

Very interesting. I was listening to something Bernado Kastrop said and the Dutch have a very interesting approach to crime and punishment. Worth having a look at. Basically a drug addict has a problem and it is not the drug. Are you going down the Idealism route and no free will?

Sent that before the end part and I think you answer the question.
