Funny story about the Thomas Ride on train- I bought one for my oldest when he was 2 yrs old for Christmas! He rode that thing until he fell asleep and kept on going! I have a picture of him slumped over backwards still holding the handle going round n round with this GIANT grin on his face out like a light bulb! That brought back so many memories!😁 THANKS MIKE- I needed that!
Seeing the stuff being saved along with your fun, honest & real human personality always makes my day. Thank you for being you & doing what you do ❤
You are so welcome!
Mike, you inspired us to do a little dumpster fishing. Today we have recycled over a thousand dollars in copper and aluminum, and this weekend I am having a garage sale and about half of it is from dumpsters.
a meses atrás,no canal do TH-cam do caio alemão,o governo federal, eles falou que estão taxando os catadores de reciclagem da Alemanha...
That's awesome
I'm always impressed by your knowledge of tools and fasteners and such.
Thanks Mike and all the scavengers out there keeping metal out of landfills and in commerce.
Mike and Dotty saving the world one load at a time.
Love me some scavenger! Been watching 3 years now! There’s no telling what Mike is going to find!!!
A company I used to work for had us working in Las Vegas on a huge project. They bought almost a million dollars worth of tools in Vegas and had $100k+ worth of unused material when the project was finished. Instead of letting us rent a truck and keep the tools, left over materials and equipment, we had to destroy all of it and toss it into dumpsters. They even had a guy come out and audit the entire process to make sure we didn't keep anything. I guess it made sense to them. Didn't make much sense to us though.
The company I used to work for did the same thing when we worked out of state jobs, the tools were billed to the job so when we were done in the trash everything went.
Thanks again for sharing your adventures Mike.Guess you don't save cans ?
Destroying the leftover materials maybe, but destroying the tools too? Sounds like a dick move to me when the workers could use them on the next job. Nothing lost by the company if they kept the tools or destroyed them. Definitely a dick move.
They did that on a job I was on and I think it's to someone for coming up and leaving the company.
Ya what you usually have there is some big shots brother in law owns the company that sells them the tools and everyone gets a kickback every time they buy more tools, whole world is a scam.
Mike I love seeing you in the dumpster. You look right 👍 at home.. Like seeing you rescue all those things from the landfill. Like seeing you unloading at scrap yard.❤❤❤❤,👍👍💰
never thought i would be watching a guy wade through trash.... but two years later here i am...🤣
right?! also me ~strangely satisfying
Me too, there is no shame in it. Mike always makes me laugh
Funny, has it been two years LOL
Yep watched everyone, I reckon it’s addictive 🤣
Shaw do tennis shoe.😅
Why is it so satisfying watching Mike save the scrap 🙂
Saving it from the landfill 😊 but getting a long boat ride to China😮
His good at making it seem fun
Who else thinks a live stream during one of Mike’s runs would be awesome? Would you watch him live?
he cant do that as be showing people where he goes dumpster driving but nice thought though
YUP
Yep
Can't give out the location man
A VFD is a variable frequency drive. Used to control the speed of electric motors.
Wondering if that was new ?
as a person in a chair i dream of a lift like that and a vehicle that would haul it and here i see someone throwing it away. truly disheartening. i appreciate all you do and love your work
Nice job Mike! Thanks for taking us along.
VFD = Variable Frequency Drive, allows you to change the speed of a motor from 0 to 100% (among other things)
Never cease to me with the stuff you find
Builders paper about $17 a roll at home Depot I use it to line dog cage crates way easier to clean up than bare cage floors.
I think that is for anti catalytic converters, that is an adhesive bond to the pipes and you use it with clamps. Helps to slow the thieves down,
The worst part about those ac thieves is that they always look at honest folks like you and dottie drive around with legitimate scrap hanging out.
They are too damned lazy to do what Mike does, he works for what he gets and it’s all discarded stuff. They will ruin hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of things to get a few dollars worth of copper.
Agreed
Sorry I don't get it about the AC were they working units or units that were gutted?
@jm823 Metal thieves stole working unit guts from working HVAC units at active installations. The R410A is getting silly expensive to replace, plus equipment, parts, and labor to fix the mess.
@@jm823 They appear to be fully connected to the wall still, so looks like someone came through in the middle of the night and gutted the insides. Thieves as Mike said in the video.
Thank you very much for sharing take care
You are not white trash just someone who knows where the treasure is and saving the planet. Thank you Mike; you’re the greatest!
Cat eye unit is a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Worth between $150 to $200 dollars EACH
Awesome video Mike, cash in the trash
Mike has said at one point or another that the dumpsters that he gets scrap from can be few and far between. Can take hours for a decent haul.
I can’t explain it …I feel enriched every time…thanks….
I can't stand thievery! These creeps who go around dismantling air conditioning units to sell the guts to scrap yards just really make me blood boil! I hope they get caught someday soon and have to do some time in the county jail. On the more pleasant side of things...I love to see to scrap of all sizes and descriptions legitimately gathered up by my favorite scrapper Mr. Mike! Bless you, my friend!
My favorite action is when you climb the ladder up on the big open top roll offs...surprise!
Cat Eye Unit - online it goes for $180 dollars.
vfd= variable frequency driver. AC motors spin at a certain rpm at 60 hz. The vfd can increase the frequency or lower to make the motor spin faster or slower.
Hi buddy love your videos I wish I could do scavenging here in cape town south africa
Into The JUICE ,,, my favorite lines !
Very cool 😊
The notebook, the film that you were on about is based on a true story and you should also recycle the notepads. You should give it to somebody. It’s good to recycle as you well know because you do it he’ll of a lot and thank God you do ❤
Jumpin to the dump, bathin in the trash😅
Great video Mike,I saw it come on the feed earlier but I’ve been trying to save it like a sweet treat. Made my first major dumpster haul this weekend 2 rifle scopes a big Bowie knife some sweet extension cords 22$ in shred and 51$ non-ferrous at the scrap yard, thanks so much for giving me the inspiration and education, when I pull up to a dumpster I immediately refer back to the training you have provided and automatically know how to proceed.
Cool thanks for sharing ❤
Nice haul Mikey you got some really good stuff thanks for sharing this six stars
Mike I don't think it was chocolate pudding in that one dumpster buddy.😔
Like your style man ! , get in there and get the job done , thanks for saving the peoples waste from the landfill !!! Way too much corporate waste in America 🇺🇸
Alrighty Mikey. Stay safe and God Bless
The red eye thingies are to keep owls and other wildlife away from poltry
VFD-Variable frequency device. It's use in hvac allowing the blower wheel to ramp up speed or ramp down speed the wheel speed as needed for more or less air flow in the co ditio ed space.
The cat eye thing is a catalytic converter alarm for your vehicles 179$ each Google says
I looked it up and the cateye unit is a device to protect the catalytic converter and the straps are part of the device shield to protect it also and are called "ultra-hardened strip steel".
Beat me to it kap....those things list for $299 each kit...holy crap Mike...score
I enjoy you so much! I wish I could help you but too old now. You make me smile, ,laugh out loud, and I hold my breath praying you don't get hurt., Stay safe, God bless you.
You should put the magnet stick in the front of the truck for easy access.
The cats eyes you found are alarms for catalyst converters
The thing you found like an alarm is a cat eye catalytic converter alarm system
Hi Mike. I just need to give you a good hint when you're working around fiberglass. Do yourself a favor and get a COLD shower when you get home. It closes your pores and the itchy fiberglass will leave your skin without an itchy surface. I love your videos because I used to scrap years ago. Just got too old and crippled to do it anymore.
What is up brother from the imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲
Just waiting for the … “let’s grab a box” 😄👍👏
Mike The Scavenger!!
Yes Mike I have to agree with you about people who do that kind of stuff
Ramboard is for protecting the floor while remodeling 😅 painting lol
Boy he gets both hands full don't he?
Exactly right Mike
Mike’s got it going on. Peace!
I remember when you first started you use to pick up anything and every thing.
Me, too. He has mentioned that where he lives now, they're not allowed to have rummage sales, so he doesn't take everything anymore. I liked it when he did. But, I will still watch because he's entertaining and does still find strange things in the dumpsters!
Crazy how much perfectly good products are trashed.
@18:00 is catalytic converter stap to keep thrives from cutting out the catalytic converter of cars. I have installed a few.
another amazing scrap pick up those open tops usually have to top notch stuff in them. Hitting the same dumpsters and they have the same items is pretty cool!!
Great video once again Mike, Had to say..... Variable frequency drive is the unit you found, they are for electric motors, speed adjusters basically.
Yay Mike ❤
No brass. No cash. No gas. No one rides for free. 😂😂 Love your vids.
You didn't find Alice anywhere with those chains did you?
Good day
Always awesomeness with Mike 😁😂
Wow mike, you found alot of good stuff. Thanks mike...😊😊😊
Great finds!
Great HAUL Mike and enjoyed watching you today also!
The Cat eyes and those rolls that were a bit heavy, take those to an exhaust repair shop. They are theft deterrents/security items for catalytic converters. The eyes are alarms that detect when someone is cutting your exhaust and alerts you. The rolls are cables that get attached to the cats making it very difficult to steal them. Try a couple shops, they have very decent value even in a quick sale, way over scrap.
Has anyone but me wish the scrap to win (NO NOT EVEN ME) Mike is the master scraper
Never thought I'd hear a man praise the movie The Notebook. Well, maybe, because the only way my wife could drag me to see that type of movie is some theater head. Then it would be a good movie to see. 😂.
VFD is variable frequency drive. It's an electric motor controller basically.
a nice door like that at 20:53 I would take and make into a workshop tabletop. it's a good size and flat. some doors don't work cause they have those decorative insets but this one looks great. too bad it's going to the trash
Hi Mike! We so enjoy you in Florida. You are our entertainment while eating our supper...go figure! One suggestion....get yourself a kids red wagon to park beside the dumpster. Then you won't have to pick it back up off the ground. Just pull your little wagon over to the truck and dump it in. We want to watch you for years to come. Do things smart and don't hurt yourself.!
I clicked on a youtube link for another dumpster diver the other day and it was insane, 1000's of rounds of ammo, maybe 50% were shotgun shells in one dumpster. Hunting clothes, duck/deer calls, survival gear, couple of BB guns - he nearly filled up the back of his station wagon.
So glad to see your video up today!!❤️
For those curious about what a VFD is, variable frequency drive, they control the speed of an electric motor for maximum efficiency.
That vfd looks like a inverter or a speed controller
As always scrapin' it up! A VFD is a variable frequency drive. Basically an ac motor speed controller. Scrapity scrap keep pickin it up!
Hi Mike. Awesome Haul. 👍👍👍👍👍. Happy to see another Vedio. Like I've told you in the past , I really enjoy watching your Videos. ESPICALLY the OPEN TOPS.!!!!!I Wanna Reach Through The Phone and Help Ya GRAB STUD Be So out there and God Bless you and your Wife and the dogs. 😇🙏😘👍😀💐
Let's hope it was chocolate pudding!
14:22 in Army basic training on the rifle range: “no brass, no ammo, Drill Sergeant!”
Those cat eyes is an alarm for your Catalytic converter.😂😂
As always mike its been great thanks for taking me along with you.five years and going I've watched your videos can't wait for the next one mTs👍👋 that ac rad is huge got more lites as a filler for dotty👍
Nice haul.
Awe haul there Mike thanks for sharing
Watch those knees Mike, Jumping in and out of the dumpsterIns. COOL VIDEO 👍👍👍
I'd use that chain fall to build a hoist for saving your back while loading treasures in your truck.
The cable things are catstraps. They attach to your catalytic converter to help keep it from being sawed off and stolen. They retail @ $200 each. That was a several thousand dollars there!
Hurt my heart to see that poor Dr Pepper just getting thrown around that dumpster.
I know, right? lol
@@vickilewis6730 lol I've been craving one all week but haven't stopped to get one
That first skewered plastic thing was a rotating assembly out of a submersible well pump. The shaft is SS.
Variable Frequency Drive … runs a 3 phase motor off of single phase voltage (household 220 voltage) …. I have one that runs my 2x72 belt sander …. Happy scraping 🎉
Great job Mike...
VFD is variable frequency drive
It's like a speed control for an electric motor
Awesome job buds!!!
Great job mike
👍Thanks for sharing!
