I ditched those that only believe in 1000cc plus bikes and hotel only types. My last tour was Wales... instead of the more touring options, I took my Honda ADV350! Moto-camping in Wales is well recommended. Scotland next, I'll be using the maxi-scooter for that too!
Nice video Adam I toured all around the Alps down to the south France 🇫🇷 light weight camping with a group of mates for our yearly bike trip for a few years on a Ktm 690 duke great fun and good laughs strap on luggage and away you go Motercycle are great what ever they are 😁👍👍👍
hey Adam, just got this video sugested, I remember watching your stuff back at the MCN channel, good to see you have your own gig now, Best of Luck! Also, you could take the bike on tour to the nurburgring, and a trackday there.
I have an urban gs from 2018 (Euro 4) upgraded with the Wunderlich seat and back-end, Öhlins suspension, Illmberger fenders, Rizoma handlebar risers and street tires. It's my bike for trips around Europe. Love her purity, just ABS and traction control. No e-gas, no IMU, no display. But I'm 55 now and in my younger years we were touring with our sportbikes (in my case GPZ 900R).
"it's not like it's the first time I've ridden a bike" 😂😂 cracking little vid, and a cracking bit of kit, you seem to be enjoying it👍🏻 Thanks as always for sharing pal🙂🏍️👍🏻
On the older model there is one bolt under the rear mud guard to release the seat. There should be a special tool (key) with the bike that fits. Cheers for blinding vid bro 🍻
Great vid. I have the original R9T from 2021 and when it rains, it sends water and road grime all up my back. Did you find that too, or has BMW fixed that with the new rear fender? On my bike the seat is released by using a torx Allen key from underneath, which is a bit of a faff. Love my bike though despite those foibles
Eyup Chad. There's no key for the seat. There's a bit of black plastic in front of the rear preload adjuster. If you pop that off, it houses a torx key which can be used then to unscrew the seat from underneath (and access the rest of the toolkit, bizarrely).
Looks like the R12 has the Brushed Aluminium Windscreen installed as standard? I added it to my '20 model RnineT and the wind reduction was enough to make a reasonable difference.
Thanks for the update. Is there a small touring screen that would make a real difference? There was one available for the old model. I struggle to sit at 70mph on a motorway on a naked bike. Still hesitating between this bike and the Mandello V100s, which is comfortable all day at 75mph. I prefer the engine and looks of the R12 ninet but do want some protection.
Done a trip on my r9t from Kiel Germany all the way to Gran Sasso Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, mountain passes and few motorways. Some days over 600km on motorways. Total 2700km in 5 days. My conclusion: touring is possible but the is better bike for tours 😅 I ended up to taking plane home and sending bike with logistics back home.
@@Chad76Media Hi Chad.6th October. The regs are on national hill climb association. You might want to contact Alan Seeley and Mark Graham. They rode it a couple of years ago.Its a bit of a trek for you but maybe you can tie it in with something else.
There's one on in Dorset in Wiscombe in two weeks time. Both were £60 entry.A majority of the entry,s are road bikes, with half a dozen supermotos, and some British bikes.
Should I be concerned with these three R12 features? 1) No fuel gauge. 2) Clunky shifting. 3) Rattly dry clutch. Should these things keep me/most riders away from purchasing?
I've never trusted the fuel gauge on any of the bikes I have owned and go on miles since last fill so I don't even notice the lack of fuel gauge. Shifting the higher gears at speed is much smoother. Lower gears are a bit more exciting, so I sometimes manually change. Haven't noticed the clutch issue you've described

Do you prefer the TFT dash over the analog dials ? And if so, do you wish it was slightly bigger ?
