When I got out of the marines in '94 I went to Florida for awhile. I walked into the bar I would go to at times...I walked in and some people said hey Dutch how you doing, first thing out my mouth was..who is singing this song cuz she sounded like Patsy....blew my mind
Leann Rimes was only 10 years old when she sang "The Star Spangeld Banner" that he heard , and he sent her his song " BLUE" for her to consider recording . So she agreed and that was how she agreed to record her song "BLUE"!!!!!!
Believe it or not she first recorded it at 11 (Independent Album). She re-recorded it at 13 for her debut label album. The official video was done when she was 14. Here I believe she was indeed 14.
I found a Star Search video, she was 8 years old singing Don't Worry Bout Me. Britney Spears and I believe Christina Aguilera also sang on Star Search as well.
Leanne Rimes' debut with "Blue" instantly shot her onto the upper level with the likes of Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton! And like Tanya Tucker, she was only a 14 year old little girl at the time!!!!!! So glad you can appreciate such talent!!
Many sources claim Bill Mack wrote the ballad for Patsy Cline, but he merely pitched it to the country singer, who died in a plane crash in 1963 before she could record it. The myth gained steam when Rimes was hailed as the second coming of Patsy Cline after she released it. Although it was claimed that Bill Mack had been waiting to find the right vocalist to record "Blue" for all that time, the song was recorded by at least five artists (Mack himself in 1958, Kenny Roberts in 1966, Roy Drusky circa 1960-70s, Polly Stephens Exley in the late 1980s, and Kathryn Pitt in 1993) prior to LeAnn Rimes
You are so right about Patsy Cline and LeAnn. LeAnn was only 14. I remember when this came out. I had to listen to it over and over and over. Thank you for playing it.
Here is a tidbit for you Britt. LeAnn Rimes, (born August 28, 1982, Jackson, Mississippi, U.S.), American country music singer who topped the charts at age 13 with her rendition of “Blue.” She drew attention and admiration for her vocal similarity to country legend Patsy Cline. She was ONLY 13 when she recorded this song!
I went and saw her back in 2010 and when she did Blue for her encore it sent shivers down my spine. Her voice is still as majestic as it was when she originally recorded it.
Rimes was "discovered" by late night radio talker Bill Mack who did a daily midnight to 6 am radio show. Mack was known as the Trucker Cowboy and had a national audience with the cross country trucker community. According to the NY Times, Mack wrote "Blue" for Patsy Cline in 1963 but she never recorded it. He offered "Blue" to Ms. Lee Ann, which won her a Grammy. She first sang the song when she was 11 years old !!! With a national audience, Mack propelled LAR into stardom overnight. Truckers could drive cross country for six hours from state to state and never have to change radio stations. Bill Mack was friends with Elvis, Waylon and Willie. He died of COVID in 2020. Listening to him on the late night radio was a treat. Broadcasting out of Fort Worth, Texas, his radio signal stretched from coast to coast and from Mexico to Canada.
My new favorite Britt reaction!!! You had me as soon as you mentioned the divine. Not enough people acknowledge when His hand moves (and yes, it still moves in 2023) You also had me with "I said what I said". She was 14 when she recorded this (not sure how old in this video) I was so excited to see you react to this song specifically thinking it would be right up your alley. God bless you.
I remember when little young Leanne (14 years old) first came out with "Blue". I loved it then and I love it now. Beautiful song and Leanne is Oh So Talented!
I remember when I first heard this song when she first came out everyone was crazy over this little girl's voice she was only 13. She still is amazing. If heaven had a voice 😆
No one else besides Patsy could have sang this song, there’s so many great female singers but let’s face it only Leann and Patsy could do this song justice.
Leann Rimes is simply magnificent!!!!! She is perfect in every way!!!!! if you are interested, she is on here singing " COWBOY SWEETHEART " AND YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW AMAZING SHE IS AT YODELING !!!!!
I took my daughter to a Wynonna concert and Leanne was a surprise guest Leanne was a week short of her 14th birthday. She only did 3 songs. I knew we were witnessing history. Btw, daughter was 12 ..now 36 and huge country fan.
Leann has been my favorite singer for about 25+.years.I used to buy extra cd's of hers to give away to people. She's amazing!!! I think she's one of the great vocalist ever, any genre!!!!
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Not a coincidence that she won the mask signer Competition a couple years ago so much talent ❤ Really like to see your reaction to "St.paul and the broken bones" Song is 🎵🎶Grass is Greener 🎶🎵 The official video You gonna love this one too 👍🏻 Keep the good work Sunshine 🌞 ✌️👏
My godfather was a country singer/songwriter in Nashville. He told my parents there was a teen phenomenon, and Leann was that young girl. Still phenomenal today.
The fact that she's like 14 years old here is insane! 'I want to be a cowboys sweetheart' she does yodeling too! But 'How Do I Live' is such a beautiful song.
LITTLE MISS GOLDEN PIPES. It was ike Christmas the first time i heard BLUE. All of us BOOMERS LOVE LeeAnn because we all loved and miss PATSYS MUSIC. She can cover all the GREATS. Her cover of Marty's, DONT WORRY BOUT ME, is off the chain.
LeAnn was only 13 years old when she originally recorded it. I was living in Seattle & this was my 1990s "Country" phase, when myself and a small group of friends went to the local country bar to two-step and line dance. When we heard this for the first time, we all thought a DJ somewhere found an old Patsy Cline song and re-released it. Yes, she had the pipes. She did covers of both "I Will Always Love You" & "Unchained Melody" that she recorded between the ages of 10-11. Britt you NEED to hear those to hear the vocal control LeAnn had at that young age. She went on to win the Grammy for Best New Artist and is the youngest singer to achieve that award!
If you fancy her vocal style here, you will love her rendition of the 50's country hit, "Cattle Call", sung as a duet w/ Eddy Arnold, who sang the original version way back then, but was still in good voice for the duet.
LeAnn definitely nailed this music to perfection. The breaks in her voice are quite deliberate. Every word, every note, every vocal technique used is deliberately and to perfection. Out of this world. To answer your question, how she does it is easy to explain. She jumps one octave and goes from full voice to falsetto both at the same instant. Plus, she jumps to the high note spot on in tune with the chord. Same in the opposite direction when she comes back down. Falsetto to full voice at the same instant she drops down an octave and bang on the money to keep the chord in tune. It is a rare and special gift given to a very few musicians.
You are correct. It's called Divine Providence. Everyone of us encounters it whether we know it or not. I enjoy (most) of your videos. Keep them coming!
Lady, I adore your authentic reactions, Faith and personality. My husband and I both subscribed to your channel. We wish you blessings and joy. Thank you and keep up the good.
Awesome reaction and like I had mentioned before, I thought she was the greatest singer ever, then Angelina Jordan came and took her spot. I still say she is # 2 in my book, check her song cover, "The Story", it's Iconic, God Bless!
You are always so awesome always with an gererous smile everytime your on your youtube channel love that about you Britt. Thank you for sharing this video with us love your youtube channel so much Britt.🌹❤️👍
I love watching you discover all these amazing Country Artists... there's a thousand more to go girl! Ashley McBryde with 'Girl going nowhere' (but the live Opry version) will have you in tears even before she starts singing! Cannot wait for you to discover her!
Britt, I would love to be a fly on the wall at your house tonight…listening to you singing this! And I have NO doubt you could carry it off, you have a beautiful voice! Peace and Love from 🇨🇦
Oh, I have been waiting to see your reaction to LeAnn singing this song and your face lit up just like I thought it would. Now I can’t wait til you see Sugarland’s video of “Stay”.
I've been playing in bands since the 1960's. My brother can yodel, my late mother could yodel but I never could... until last year. I was driving home having heard Lovesick Blues by Hank WIlliams earlier, and I was doing the yodelling bits quite easily. I almost crashed the car. Maybe it's different for everybody, but I was always trying to yodel from low to high, and I discovered that I could do it if I went high and yodeled on the way down. I'm still too scared to do it at a gig though. hahaha
My grandma loved this song. I think of her every time I hear it.. Also, if you have a chance to see her live I highly recommend it. Even after all these years her voice is just as incredible
When this came out and every radio station was playing it we were told that she was 14 years old but people didn’t really believe it at first! This song was EVERYWHERE!
Brittt, totally agree with you - Divine Intervention the way the entire process evolved!!!! Incredible!
She was 13 when she recorded it, and people lost their minds, watch the original video...shes got an angels voice, Patsy would be proud...😊
💯
There's really no need to watch the video, considering that she nailed it live just as perfect as she did in the studio recording/music video.
Check out Ruby Leigh audition on the Voice!
We were all in awe when this song was released in 1996.
When I got out of the marines in '94 I went to Florida for awhile. I walked into the bar I would go to at times...I walked in and some people said hey Dutch how you doing, first thing out my mouth was..who is singing this song cuz she sounded like Patsy....blew my mind
She blows the doors off when she does “Purple Rain”.
Leann Rimes was only 10 years old when she sang "The Star Spangeld Banner" that he heard , and he sent her his song " BLUE" for her to consider recording . So she agreed and that was how she agreed to record her song "BLUE"!!!!!!
You will respect it that much more once you realize she is only 14 years old!!! 🔥🔥
Used to, the ol mailman... I like to see your reactions.... holy. my grandmother used to sing this.
I understand

I found a Star Search video, she was 8 years old singing Don't Worry Bout Me. Britney Spears and I believe Christina Aguilera also sang on Star Search as well.
@@lauraclark92 I saw that too. Her voice and stage presence were so good even then
Patsy Cline was also a "mentor" to a young Loretta Lynn.
I just love it when LeAnn Rimes be 🗣🗣🗣Yodeling in the song 🎵 Blue
If you REALLY want to hear her yodel. Check out her singing "Cowboy Sweetheart".
Did you know that Willy Nelson wrote that song for Patsy Cline before she passed away and kept it for 30 .
She's one of the best yoddlers ever! Incredible voice! And she's such a sweetheart of a person, too.
Leanne Rimes' debut with "Blue" instantly shot her onto the upper level with the likes of Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton! And like Tanya Tucker, she was only a 14 year old little girl at the time!!!!!! So glad you can appreciate such talent!!
she was actually 13 but hey lol ! regardless just amazing
LeeAnn Rhimes grew up about 20 miles from my home. Serious pipes on this girl!!
That's the way Patsy sang. She had a cry in her voice that would blow you away.
I agree one thousand percent that song was written for her over 30 years ago. Divine intervention.
I loved this song. Patsy Cline would be so proud of that version.

LEANN RIMES was the "SUN" on The Masked Singer. Naturally she won.
The best ever
You are so right about Patsy Cline and LeAnn. LeAnn was only 14. I remember when this came out. I had to listen to it over and over and over. Thank you for playing it.
She's the perfect person for this song. She absolutely killed it.

LeAnn stated in a recent interview that there was a mix up and the recording released was in reality the earlier recording made when she was only 11.
@@linusromey561 wow!

Le Ann was 14 when she recorded blue and is in the world records book for the youngest winner of a Grammy for blue.
I knew you'd love this one! When she came out with this, everyone was blown away by that amazing voice and how close she came to Patsy's abilities.

So beautiful…love LeAnn Rimes. She sings a lovely, acapella version of Amazing Grace too!❤️
No one else besides Patsy could have sang this song, there’s so many great female singers but let’s face it only Leann and Patsy could do this song justice.
I saw Leann in concert when she was fifteen and she was amazing!! She has been my favorite singer ever since!
LeAnn Rimes - One Way Ticket (Official Music Video) is another great song.
How does she do it? I think that singing comes as naturally to her as breathing does to the rest of us.
13 when she recorded it. Mind blowing...what a voice!
She sang it when she was 13 and 14 when it went to #1
Her first album was so good. Such a talented singer. Just now being rediscovered lately after being on masked singer.
Leann Rimes is simply magnificent!!!!! She is perfect in every way!!!!! if you are interested, she is on here singing " COWBOY SWEETHEART " AND YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW AMAZING SHE IS AT YODELING !!!!!

I could imagine her singing with Roy Orbison..WOW..Magic..
I love her song Probably Wouldn’t Be This Way. It’s so gorgeous. She’s amazing.
