    It's so nice that you're not just pushing the equipment you have and telling us you don't need to have an air runner or treadmill etc, just giving us the key information we need. Thanks Cole and every time I see your videos I'm reminded why you won spirit of the games.

    My garage gym is small, but mighty...like 1 stall garage size that also has man cave things in it. A dingy for our sailboat hangs from the ceiling, a workbench in the back, and a metal rack/shelf with power tools. I've saved and spent my money as wisely as possible. Small Rouge squat rack, rower, my boyfriend made me a wall mount for plates/bands, and I'm slowly adding more pieces when I can afford it. Thinking about getting a bike soon-but it'll need to go in the house, pull-up bar is in a doorway in the house, and I have a plyo box + a few KB's and DB's. 6 months in and I'm already down almost 20inches total. I also have a small heater; living in Green Bay Wisconsin means it's already cold out....so hoodies, wool socks, and keeping my bar in the house so it's not ice cold. Where there is a will, there is a way!

    Step 1: get rogue to give you everything for free

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  5 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      Ha!! That is like Step 4 or 5 my man!
      But a Rogue sponsorship definitely helps and is nice. Hence why I didn't focus on all the nitty gritty of what that kind of blessed scenario can offer. I focused on big picture things that everyone can dial in if they are just willing to put a little effort into it.
      Do you have a garage gym space? or looking to have one in the future?

    I have an R3 bolt together rack. So I split it in half and used the crossbars to bolt the uprights to the wall. And connected them with pull up bars. Now I have a wall rig that’s three times the width. So it’s basically like three racks next to each other. So much cooler than a power rack. Just add spotter arms for less than 200 to retain the functionality of the rack.

    Such great tips Cole! We just moved to VA Beach as a military couple and we are literally making a list to re-build our gym since we had to get rid of so much before due to weight restrictions. My hubs and I chuckled cause literally all we have now is a jump rope and a dumbbell and we just finished up running outside. We also laughed about the reverbs through the house so we are looking into that concern now. Great videos and so easy to just click on and watch all the way through. Your passion will take you a very long way as it already has!

    I cam relate to ur friend. I'm only 15 so I dont have a lot of money to spend on equipment. I started off doing body weight exercises in my room, started to see results and instantly got hooked. My first real equipment was a wood pull up bar I made with my uncle. Next was a medicine ball for core exercises. And finally my moms friend gave us some plates I've been using, without a bar, just wrapping my fingers through the center hole and doing squats/deadlifts, and putting them on my back and doing pushups. I've seen such awesome results and I cant wait to add more equipment to my setup. Thanks for the tips, they're really going to help out!

    Hey cole! Catching up on your videos right now but I have to say this. I listened to your podcast with Brute strength and i have gone from happiness, to being in awe to maybe letting go of a little tear here and there. Your life is remarquable and the amount of experience you are sharing on that podcast but also (in a way) in your videos is life changing - Especially the relationship with Genasee. I have had a food disorder as well, not sure if i would call it like that too, I was eating fruits, meats, rice and that would be all just to be lean. It still is a lesson to be learned but after listening to you speak, I really want to take that leap and try Wag or any other nutritional service (it's a lifestyle after all). The other thing is your open performance and how you learned that it was you and just yourself who kept you from performing better and that 1% kept you from it. Really, i turned off the car once the episode was done and I was like " I need to reflect on myself, leave my ego at the door etc." Thanks for being you man, keep posting these videos and good luck at the games man!

      I just have to say that I am so incredibly grateful for your extremely kind and encouraging comment. Thank you for listening to the podcast I did with Brute and for being part of our channels community. Means a lot. I am glad that it is helping raise the level in which you want to live your life. I would love to see you give WAG a try. I think you would really enjoy it. Hope you get a chance to make it out to the Games this year or one in the future!! It is such an incredible place to be and so inspirational to be around, even for me! lol Keep working hard, and making an impact!!

      @PatCFLabat 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cole! Wow! What a reply, thanks so much. I was just being honest :) I really like the community you're building and that the way you are on youtube/instagram is not "fake", especially on the Brute podcast- you opened up so easily.
      I will give WAG a shot very soon, work has been quite hectic lately but dialling back into meal prepping better. I'll keep you posted on that in next videos of yours.
      I wanted to make the Games this year but it will probably have to go to the next one ( I'm 200% sure the inspiration one gets from the Games is incredible, so I will make it happen, mark my word!) however I will be going around to sanctionals! Hopefully I get to meet you man.
      You're the best man!

      These are fun questions. Some of the neighbors have caught on or have asked enough questions that they now know what I do, especially the ones right next door. Other in the neighborhood might still wonder.. haha but some have even started following me and watching CrossFit... Pretty cool!!!
      And I do get out of the garage and go throw down at a box sometimes. It is good to get into a different space and be around people. I am SUUUUPER social, so it can be refreshing for me. However, I typically just do my training there. Out of season though, I will take class. It is alwasy a blast working out with community!

    • @ColeSager

      For ring muscle ups, we have enough space at our highest ceiling point (~10'6"). For bar muscle ups, Genasee has enough space, but it's pretty tight for me. I can technically do them in our garage, but it engrains bad form, so I don't. I will go to a local gym if bar muscle ups are programmed!

    @michaelmabe8944 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks, Cole! This is really a question for anyone here. Money is really tight and saving up for big fancy equipment is tough (who would’ve thought a bunch of children would cost a ton of money????). As a result, I have literally built my own gym. I mean, literally. I got an old rusty rack and fixed it up, built a shelf to store weights and bar (only things I didn’t physically build / restore), built a plyo box, am adding a GHD function to it this weekend, and utilize different sized bags of concrete rapped in duct tape as sand bags. My wife and I have been saving up for additional equipment I cannot make myself. I will be able to afford my first real piece of equipment in a couple of months, but am stuck between buying a rower, assault bike, echo bike, dumbbells, or additional plates for my bar (my weight maxes out at 265, which covers everything I can lift to date, but gains have been crazy and 265 is becoming lighter by the week for certain lifts). Any suggestions on which one would help me take my fitness to the next level?
    I really appreciate any input.

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Love that you guys are saving up for stuff, man! Glad you are investing in your health and wellness, brother! I would say the best bang for your buck in the long term is going to be the Echo bike. Though the assault bike is nice, the Echo bike is going to hold up a lot longer. Its just built more sturdy. Between that or a rower is my first suggestion. Then get a small run of DB's. I would think 25's, 35's, 50's once you can. Then when you want to add to those you can fill in the gaps with other weights. Or a great solution is the loadable DB's that ROGUE sells. I personally wouldn't worry about adding more plates. A 265lbs bar is plenty of weight. You can CRUSH yourself with that kind of weight. Hope that helps, my man!

    Question, Sir!
    What do you do for gymnastics movements like ring or bar muscle ups? I’m looking into building my garage gym and and I’m trying to figure out how to incorporate those in!

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love it! Excited for you to have a garage gym! I hung wood rings from my ceiling, which is 10.5ft tall. I have juuust enough room. I have the Rogue ring hanger that spans across two rafters so there is extra support. Seems to be good. The more rafters the better, obviously. 🙌🏼 best of luck!!

    In the winter how do you deal with all the crap you bring in on the tires? Salt, Sand Dirt plus what drips from the under carriage?

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a constant battle haha. We do our best to clean the truck off as best we can before pulling it into the garage. But we also use a leafblower, broom, and then a microfiber mop + cleaning solution on the mats. And we typically do a deeper clean at least every spring with a carpet cleaner type vacuum.

    Great video Cole. Question for you, how did you manage 30” crossmembers for your rig? Looking to get a very similar set up, but I’ve only been able to find 24” or 43” crossmembers on the Rogue website.

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kory! -- great question. I would reach out to customer service. They are usually really helpful and what they do is use the 30" crossmembers from the the Squat Cages and sub them out. I have had several people contact them about this and it's worked. Give that a shot. I'll put in a word to them that they should just start offering it on their sight as well! ;)... make it easier for everyone! lol

    Do you worry about your vehicle leaking on the mats? Or even bringing rocks and other crud inside?

    • @ColeSager
      @ColeSager  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our truck doesn't leak, so that's not an issue. But we're pretty diligent about making sure it's reasonably clean before we back it in to the garage in order to minimize bringing dirt and rocks in. Obviously that still occurs, so when they get dirty we blow out the mats with a leaf blower and then spot mop with a microfiber mop.
