Ben has all the 25 Ram content…. Crushing it Ben!
Ford has port + direct injection which helps prevent carbon buildup on the intake valves. Ram only has direct injection and will have problems with carbon buildup on the intake valves.
Agreed catch can is a must after purchase
@@REDZ32TTwhy they don't come with the can of that's important ?
@@revistadearmasbecause the government didn’t make them
Supposedly ram has a system to keep the valves clean but I’m sure it will fail with out u knowing then the valves will be caked
It will also be harder to tune to make more power, direct injectors and hpfp are expensive. 😅
I have had both for 4-year runs, hemi and 3.5, laramie and lariat both around 40k miles. One I lived in the service dept, the other was just routine service. The Ram had superior styling, inside and out, however, that lived in the service dept for the 4 years and turned into a lemon on 3 separate issues. The lifters, infotainment and suspension were the culprits. i have overloaded both, the Ram listed like a boat with the coils and the F150 took it like a champ. I went back to a F150 and have been happy ever since. I am glad you mentioned reliability at the end, it does make a difference. Great review as always.
I'm not sure about either, but the Ram trucks with the HO Hurricane are rockets! 540 horsepower and 520 Torque was a real shocker!
If Ford is smart they won’t get into a spec battle with Ram on power. Instead take a page out of Toyota’s book and focus on reliability. After 15 years in production it’s still a very competitive engine. Its fairly reliable now since there are millions of these engines on the road and the known major problem area is cam phasers which seems to have died down. The Borg Warner turbos seem to easily go 200K if properly maintained.
Ford needs to concentrate on reliability because they have been horrible in recent years
Owning a 2023 3.5 liter I have to say that truck is very well made and very fast. Sport mode is awesome
Insane cars Ben !! ❤❤
Hurricane looks fun, but I'll give it some time to prove itself. Ecoboost is a known quantity at this point.
Yea, known for being a poorly engineered pile of shit
Exactly
Been out for 3 years now. And FCA tested the shit out of it. They even tested it on a Nurburgring dyno tester like the Porsche 911 GT3 engine.
I’ve always liked the old school look of white lettered tires on certain vehicles.
As far as styling both trucks look sharp. I think the hurricane engine is pretty cool. They are dropping it in alot of vehicles right off the bat instead of phasing it in. If it doesn't prove to have decent reliable Chrysler is in big trouble.
What we really wanna know is how's gonna make a compound turbo kit and tunes for these motors.
I'd like for you to add the curb weight of the trucks when you tell us the payload.
Morning Ben! Could you find a Sr tundra crew cab to test drive thanks.
Ben, good review
I would not touch a Ram. I have the Ecoboost 3.5 in my Tremor. It’s powerful, smooth , gets decent mileage, tows like a champ and hasn’t given me any problems. The myth of the Twin turbo is just that. A myth. Dating back to the first and second generation engines. If you maintain it properly it will run a long time. I know a few people who have 250k on their Ford Ecoboosts.
And I know too many people who had the 3.5 ecoboost and got rid of them
@@Ybshy Isn’t that special
I got rid of mine after it sat at the dealer service dept. waiting on parts for a month! I'm not saying the new twin turbo Ram will be any better, but my 2022 5.7 Hemi is much simpler and the truck does everything better than the Ford especially ride, comfort and driving dynamics!
I doubt it mate, also if they're so good then how come Ford used the 6.8L and 7.3L Godzilla V8s as base gas engines in the Super Duty and not the 3.5L Ecoboost V6?
Hey i like this comparison ben.
While the new ram engine is interesting, I wouldn’t put faith in it yet. Too new.
These are both very nice trucks, but i have always leaned more towards the ford.
We currently have a 2021 expedition with 3.5 and it has been solid, even with over 100k on it.
What was the rear end ratio between the two trucks? Could be the difference in mpg.
That straight inline 6 way better engine, more linear Ram hopefully worked out all the kinks on this new Hurricane engine
LOL ram didn't even work The kinks out of their 5.7 it's been out for 22 years. What makes you think they'll have all the kinks worked out on an engine they just released within the last year?
@@stevebalun9554 your right, not getting my hopes up
Just because an I6 generally is a better layout than a V6 or V8 doesn't mean that every I6 is going to be a great engine. It's a Stellantis product... I have major trust issues with that.
Inline 6 isn’t necessarily a good set up. It’s much harder to package because it’s so long
That's funny, ram has worked out the kinks haha, rams haven't worked out shit for 40 years
I would go with Ram
I'd say a decent win for ram here. The inline 6 sets it apart. It's like when they set themselves apart (on paper at least) in 2003 when they introduced 340?hp hemi and 5 forward gears. Both these engines should really move the trucks and watch out when aftermarket tuning adds a safe 25% hp and torque.
Love em' both.I'm an Ecoboost guy but would love the opportunity to try the Hurricane!!
Fords interior is the same as my 22 XLT. Exterior mild refresh i guess. Funny that RAM used to make fun of ford for the ecoboost and now theyre following them.
Hoping Hurricane proves to be more reliable. RAM knows how trucks should look and feel.. this is coming from an x forder
One more thing as an ecoboost owner. I’d buy the dodge. I don’t think anyone here would believe the amount of time and money dumped into my truck. So I’d take take my chances with the dodge in a heartbeat
Ram or Ford both good trucks. I like Ram.
Both are nice trucks. Out of my price range, though. If I buy 1/2 ton over a midsize, it will be a lightly optioned base trim 1/2 ton. I prefer the exterior of the Ram, but the Ford is fine. If I am buying a 1/2 ton, it is about function. I am more impressed with the Ford’s payload (200 lbs more) than the Ram. Also, if I buy a 1/2 ton, I will want the larger gas tank size, etc. I care more about function than electronics and aesthetics (they are nice, but not primary in my buying decision). Ford is not known for its reliability, but I am concerned about the 1st year reliability of the Ram engine as well.
I just ordered a half ton with a turbo six cylinder. But I never even wasted my time looking at Ford or Ram. I went with a GMC Sierra SLT with the 3.0L Duramax diesel.
Hey Ben, just an opinion here.
I like the trucks you review and compare, but the driving portion of your videos leaves alot to be desired.
Can you have the machine/pressure washer noise in all your videos??? At first, I assumed it was the new "Hurricane" FIAT engine making the noise!!!
Considering the ecoboost already has a reputation of being solid engines, Ford
At least in raptors they have been solid
The question is will it the 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 in my 1996 Ford F150?
I think it will be cool if you would say what the percent of parts like American Canadian Mex.......keep up the REVIEW s coming. 😅
0-60 acceleration comparison? Maybe one day.
Could you reveiw both trucks in their naturally asparated versions, Lol?😉
Ben, what size shoes do you wear cause I’m about to send you some new penny loafers so you can retire the ones you have on 😂 seriously I’m going to send you a pair
My 2022 F150 5.0 runs great but always has electrical problems. 53k miles, trouble started at 24k.
Thats amazing that the Heavier steal Ram low output I6 is as fast as the light aluminum ford larger high output v6. #Ram always at a whole other Level.
Baruk Hashem
Now we just have to drag race them in 1/4 mile.
My 2009 Ram with a Hemi and 196K miles is better than any of the crap made recently
What the hell is up with the LOUD generator noise in the parking lot😂?
Thought it was that new Hurricane motor idling for a second 😂
Probably an EV of some kind needing to be charged with a gas generator 🤷🏻♂️😂
At first I was thinking they’re both running like 💩
Filling all the tires at once with a cigarette lighter air compressor.
I like his videos, but that's annoying
Both good trucks, but ford needs to have a look at the interiors and try to get away from all the hard shiny plastic. Awful interior compared to the dodge imo
What engine is making that noise
Just sounds very weird???
Do they have oil??
I have the 3.5 ecoboost and doesn't sound like that shit
None. It's a pressure washer in the background. He starts the trucks later in the video.
We know they don't sound good, but they don't sound That bad. Lol
Ford should respond with a 300 inline 6 Turbo!! (4.9)
That would be an amazing engine choice!
I would get the F-150 with the Hurricane engine having owned 3.5 Ecoboost in the past.
As a Ram owner, i hope its reliable
Thinking of it if he had the Chevrolet it.would of been covered 2.7 turbo.
RAM sounds like an air compressor working it
@2.00 Always wonder why Ford never put a plastic liner inside the rear finders so you cant see the through the whole bed. RAM has them an looks much better.
it's optional equipment you can add, most people just don't add them
My F150 has the rear inner fender liners
You can get those rear fender liners for like 50 bucks and it takes about 20 minutes to put them in it's very easy
Gostei da F-150
I owned a Ford 2015 F150 5.0, I will never buy a Dodge product, but Ford is giving us nothing and just increasing prices. Maybe if Ram is reasonable enough, I will reconsider . 😂
My brother has a 21 f150 and his engine blew at 91.000miles. Wow
Every year it’s new technology blah blah. Just give us new body instead and keep the old tried a true natural aspiration engine. Race engines are meant for the opposite as I don’t know. A reliable car !
This new Ram engine is 100% designed by Stelantis, thats not a good indicator for reliability for sure. Time will tell
63K and they both have cloth seats. LOL I'll be sticking with my 21 Laramie for the time being.
Thank god, I hate leather seats.
Ram all day long. 👊🏼
Moment of Silence, for what was once America
What’s the best selling truck for the last forty plus years, FORD… i am going with that kind of quality Hello!🐍
Hurricane is truly not proven yet. It may or may not be a great engine but I won’t buy one until it has some history. Ford for now but maybe Ram in the future if the new six works out
Reliability.....straight 6 with good components will last a good long time.....unless china made parts are used
Is it really a Ben Hardy video if he doesn't use the word "torque" at least 15 times?
I think your horse power numbers are wrong
ty for sharing,
Pros and Cons to each but since both give smiles per gallon guess pick your poison... n order a titan while you can
I’d take a straight 6 turbo over a V6 turbo anyday and twice on Sunday
RAM is Stellantis so there's that. Ill stick to the Ford
And Ford is Ford
It would have been nice to hear the damn things idle. Next time don't film when a generator is running!
Maybe take your lazy ass to a dealership then
The Ford doesn't even have wheel well liners in the back, looks cheap to me.
EcoBoost has been around. First-year for Hurricane....hmmmmmm?
Believe third model year for this engine. Debuted in the Wagoneer.
Folks doesn't matter which turbo engine you chose cause either way they're both wayyyyyyyyyyy overpriced and they won't outlast my 1996 Ford F150 with a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 either.
Ram didn’t want this to happen but you would be dum to think that they wouldn’t be better than any ecopoo Ram has no choice to now to make the best trucks.
Ram king of trucks likes sausage parties😅
Lower displacement on these trucks should be lower price........right?......😆....that Hurricane sounds WORSE than the Ford....hard to believe.....🙄
8mph thru parking lot “feel so much torque!” 😒😒😒🤦♂️
Although I do enjoy watching vehicles(coz am a fan of vehicles) I do not really see any sense in "what's better than the other" philosophy coz in reality each one buys what they like/love!.e.g myself,I can't buy any vehicle no matter how much you try to convince me of how "superior" it is than the other/s unless only if am feeling it!.😂
Just not liking the interior in the ram. Plus it's got a fiat engine in it. Lol. Good luck
That EcoBoost sounds like a Briggs and Stratton 🤣. Ram all day
Run
Away
More
Ford has a American engine, the other isn't even a dodge. Lol.
Lots of clicky rattling
Pressure washer in the back ground
I’ll take the proven one ecoboost F-150 anytime
They don’t sound very nice
Ford, started a small displacement turbo charge over 12 years ago. I think Ford. Should sue, GM Dodge and Toyota.🤣
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!
My wife drives a wagoneer with the hurricane and she easily smokes my 5.7 Ram and easily smokes my son in laws F150 3.5 ecoboost. It's not even close. We both made plenty of excuses lol
Man those trucks sound like shit
Pretty sure thats a pressure washer you hear in the background
Knowing Ford is Trash, I'll go with the most awarded, most reliable pickup RAM-1500 KING OF TRUCKS 👌
😂
😂
Name checks out. Shameless ramboy 😂
@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS-Amen brother!!! Rams are unbeatable!!!😊👍👏🏻
Which truck has highest resale value? Did someone say Toyota Tundra?
