  • The 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc offers small-SUV buyers a semi-premium alternative. For those who want to take a step up with European styling and higher-end features, it shapes up as an option to Japan's Mazda CX-30 and South Korea's Hyundai Kona, both of which play the design card heavily.
The first-generation T-Roc's midlife facelift arrived in the second half of 2022 but had its model range tweaked a year later, with some variants increasing in both price and specification, including the mid-spec 110TSI Style variant on test here, with it increasing its list of standard features by drawing from its previous option package.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Journalist Chris Thompson spends a week living with the T-Roc 110TSI Style to find out just how well it measures up against its stiff competition. As he found out, there's a lot that would impress would-be owners.

Regarding the pricing mentioned at 0:54, the specific Style test vehicle being reviewed here is priced at $38,890, before on-road costs. But it's worth noting a new example of the Style will cost you $39,790 at the time of publishing, as its price has since ours was 'delivered'.

I had one of these, the City Life spec, as a rental last year in Tasmania. I was quite impressed with it. Ample power, comfortable, road and steered well. I had it in Launceston for two days then drove it to Hobart and it cruised do to there very well and for the rest of the week. I don't recall the fuel consumption, but it only used about 40L during the week.
PS. Did you choose the nail polish to match the car's colour?

I dove a base model Kona and a base model T-Roc and the T-Roc demolished the Kona. The T-Roc also benefits from using a reliable Asian 8 speed torque converter auto (Toyota gearbox) and the proven and debugged 1.4T EA211 engine. The VW was also better built with impressive fit and finish and it managed to look better inside and out (subjective I know).

Sure i agree tar better than the Mazda cx30 and Hyu kona . Untill the warranty expires then you want to off load it only to discover valuation has fallen off a cliff as the used car market does not go seeking a used 6yo euro with over 100km

True, however I picked mine up at $36,990 drive away with 3 years servicing thrown in. I'm ahead by around $6K over a comparable Japanese or Korean SUV so I can take a hit on resale.

The Audi Q2 has a far better interior and is of a far superior quality compared to the low rent, inferior interior of the T Rock that VW thinks it can get away with. The T Rocks exterior styling looks good but that’s it…the interior and drive of the Audi Q2 is far better….

      And about 10k more expensive.
I prefer the Audi as well, but its not exactly a like for like comparison based on price.
The skoda karoq would be a better compare.

LOL have fun going bankrupt servicing an Audi. Their reliability is a complete joke.

Any audi below a q5 isn't worth the price tag.
