Watching the videos from you and rudy got me into magic. I never had any friends locally that played it so i had an interest but never jumped the gun til magic arena. Serra angel is probably one of my favorite cards and i tripped out to see the original artwork since i been playing the card in arena. Im a fan of the snow artwork cards and hope to get into getting cards someday. Bought some iceage and some guilds of ravnica cards as my first introduction to magic hope to continue getting into it. :)
I think doing Serra Angel as your opener for this series of videos was a great choice, it really is iconic. Very professional video and fully worth the watch, thanks for sharing.
I was actually friends with the guy that had the serra avatar / infinite damage deck back in the day when he won that one tournament up here in the NW. I would take his ideas and use them for defense like put a lure on a wall of glare and then pump it with green or nullify damage and have a bunch of healing going on. Dude really knew how to exploit the game
Douglas Shuler is undoubtedly one of the greatest MTG artists of all time. Besides Serra Angel, one could mention iconic cards (and artworks) like Demonic Tutor, Force of Nature, Icy Manipulator, and the beautiful "sunset island" from Mirage. But there are also som less powerful cards: A real gem is Shelkin Brownie from Legends, such a cool artwork! And my own favourite with regards to his artwork is the Frozen Shade. Imagine it being a really powerful card, and everyone would love and appreciate this artwork.
Loved the video....AND Serra Angel! I, too, collect Serra Angels, with everything from Beta (5 copies) to modern versions. Just missing the foil 7th Edition, Summer Edition & Alpha Serra (all out of my budget at this point). Yes, more videos on single Old School cards. My favorite "quirky" card: Illusionary Mask! Wassup with that ART??? Makes you wonder & imagine what was going on in Amy Weber's creative mind! But that art is amazingly mysterious & strange, both at the same time! Love that card!
Definitely a highly iconic card of history. I just wish it wasn't re-printed to hell in later expansions, this is the only way I feel Serra Angel has been let down over time. Little late to be wishing something was on the reserve list :) Which brings me to Vesuvan Doppelganger. I feel it's a card lost in time. This card to me was absolutely iconic in the early mtg days. It actually has stunned me for a reserved list card that the price across the only few print-sets has remained very flat throughout the years being an epic card by play and by picture!
Yep I remember my brother stomping me with that card back in 94’ and just blown away that it was only and uncommon and tried to build A sengir vampire deck to counteract the Serra lol!
@@vintagemagic Ive been known to be tough but fair. If a compliment is deserved then I like to toss that out as well. Keep this series going a let's get a shovel and toss Don Chings wing 6ft deep while we r at it! :)
I was disappointed when they changed the art in 7th edition... then the art in 9th edition was not bad, but nothing like the vintage art style... Great video!
Production value and style of this video is really great!

@Dan, Serra Angel 3ED has gone up 30% in the past week :)

Have Serra artist proof?
@@MichaelGoetzman No, that would be another missing Serra for my collection.
@@timothyvandenberg2905 I just ended up with one, which is why I was looking at Serra videos ;)
@@MichaelGoetzman That's awesome! Convention pick-up? eBay? Direct from the artist?
@@timothyvandenberg2905 magiccon connections, I’ll be in Vegas too
Love the video dude, I have a White/Blue deck and Serra Angels are by far my favorite card.
I love these series of videos... please do 1 of my alltime favourite card... Birds of Paradise... talk about Iconic... ;-)
Awesome vid! I like these kind of videos. Really looking forward to the vids of other icons like birds of paradise, royal assassin and shivan dragon.
Would love to see you do a video like this on Mishra's Factory. Very iconic card(s) and ubiquitous in Old School!

Vesuvan was definitely iconic. I traded my 3ed Underground sea plus $5 for one back in 1997~. Still hurts though..
New players can build decks with this card. It's a great way to introduce MTG to new players
This is a good series of videos to go with. I enjoyed this a lot.
Yep I remember my brother stomping me with that card back in 94’ and just blown away that it was only and uncommon and tried to build
A sengir vampire deck to counteract the Serra lol!
Make sure you do a video on chaos orb!!!!!
Such a beautiful card, and I'm not sure why I never finished my play set of Betas. Still missing 2. :O
I would say wild mongrel set the bar for me on power levels for cmc. A two drop that could win games.
I just realized that Serra Angel is a lefty... good video, thanks!
My favorite card.
Do sengir vanpire!!!!
Hypnotic Specter.... :)
Do Kudzu next. Or maybe Mana Barbs.
Quality content rivals rhystic studies channel and their reviews of iconic cards.
Is that a compliment :)

Shivan Dragon was my personal staple, mahamoti djinn could handle her if you made it long enough too
Birds of Paradise or Hypnotic Specter please.
who owns the 1st original painting?
