The most shocking thing to me is any person on planet Earth thinking the Beatles are American. I thought it was common knowledge like the Earth orbiting the sun.
I mean they are not even Americans but Africans so if someone doesn't even know their birth nationality then for sure they won't know shit about anything else.
You have to have lived i the US and listened to their music and understand the size of the country. They have several Londons FFS.
I'm not American but l wouldn't be surprised if for some people from USA The Beatles is only one sing they know about Britain 😊 Well, maybe the Queen as well (not the band)..
@@BrianGreene-rn9uz😂😂😂
@@Bryt25 there isn't a single city in the US with a larger population than London. Size wise it's debatable depending on what parts you include.
They didn't move to America when they were young. They were always totally British.
How could anyone ever imagine that either Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin could be anything other than British bands? Since when have America ever produced bands who have had such an impact on music, or shown anywhere near the same level of creativity?
Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Silver Apples. I'm from the UK. But I could think of those three, off the top of my head.
@@thebolstaDoors possibly BUT Jefferson Airplane and I've never heard of the other band you mentioned. Those bands except the Doors haven't had anything like the impact of The Stones, The Who, Led Zep, Queen, Pink Floyd etc etc
I CAN'T BELIEVE that there are people on this planet who didn't know the Beatles and Pink Floyd are British and to find three in the same room blows my mind
What makes you think they moved to America when they were young (they didn't) do you not realise the uk and most other countries have thriving music cultures of their own
Black Sabbath not even getting an honourable mention is outrageous! Kick Oasis out of the top 10, they don't belong there, and replace them with Black Sabbath! Tbf, the honourable mentions could have gone on for hours but I'm surprised that Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, The Clash and The Police didn't get a mention.
I do agree with you on Sabbath, but their album sales and Oasis' album sales are incredibly similar. (75m+)
It would be The Kinks or Radiohead getting sacrificed, who combined haven't sold the same number as Oasis.
@@HisDudeness316 Oasis ripped off the Beatles, they have zero credibility. They arent even fit to mention the Kinks or Radiohead
Thinking pink Floyd were from the US 😳 it’s staggering just how many British singers, and actors are mistaken to be from the US 🤷♂️
Born and bred British 🇬🇧 They obviously toured America when their music became known over that side of the world.
How can you possibly think all this innovative talent came from America ,which is renowned for following ,not creating .
I'm Scottish but lets be honest, the amount of classic music to come out of England is nothing short of phenomenal! Glad to hang on to their coat tails in this wonderful island that is the UK! 🏴🇬🇧
But you had the Bay City Rollers.😁
@@eggboundanddown9851 at least you had Simple Minds 🤷♂️
@@Really-hx7rl 😂 fucking legends that they are!
@@dazpoz we've contributed here and there through the years 👍
All the best bands ever are British
Not your fault. Anerica steals all our stuff and makes out its home grown...😂😂
Those bands were not kids in the US...they grew up here and started their careers here...😂😂.
No they didn't go to America when they were young lol I guarantee most of the bands you listen to are British, and you should check out how many of the famous actors you think are American are actually British. I don't know how anyone could nog know The Beatles or Pink Floyd are British but I suppose this is what reaction channels can do to educate people. Always research the bands you listen to before assuming. 👍😁🇬🇧
Nice reaction. If you dig deeper, you will find a LOT more bands you love are British, not just these 10. 🙂
Keep going...
Who on earth didn't know that Queen, Led Zep, Pink Floyd and the Beatles are British!! lmao. ... Also British and missing from this list are....Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard. Small Faces, Judas Priest, Gorillaz, Motorhead, Jethro Toll, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, The Hollies, Cream & Eric Clapton, The Animals, Muse, Coldplay, Roxy Music etc... and also artists like Chris Rea, David Bowie and many others are British...Also no these bands and artists did not move to the US young. They were born, grew up and formed their bands in Britain!! please do some research.
Oasis but no ELO?
Ridiculous.
Oasis isn't even in Top 100
Oasis have sold more albums than ELO, so they are not insignificant. I’m a fan of ELO, but Oasis helped launch Britpop and were an important part of the 90s scene.
@@alundavies1016 So what?Madonna probably sold even more. I liked few tracks from their first two albums but never understood the whole Wonderwall phenomenon. From UK 90ies bands I much prefer Radiohead, Blur, Suede, Manics and Pulp . Verve and the band almost never mentioned today Cast which was fantastic and I remember something from Supergrass
@@peaceofiona9198 but Madonna wasn’t British? Taste is personal of course.
@@alundavies1016 Of course she wasn't British . Having British husband for some time didn't make her automatically British.
Good grief Pink Floyd US??? No that’s just the USA attitude really, everything is USA’s until told differently!!!
Some people really do live in a cave
Thanks. Love you guys for checking out British music and history. Your channel is very good.
🇬🇧
If you want recommendations for great British music, we could literally be here for days 😂😂
I'm sure plenty of people have already suggested listening to "Pink Floyd live Pulse concert" I would go along with that.
"Sorrow" is one of the ones I like best.
Have you seen the Wikipedia entry for British bands??? There are separate pages for each letter of the alphabet!
Just so you know, every one of these bands is British, and I've missed a few out. The Moody Blues, The Beatles, Status Quo, The Bee Gees, Blur, Queen, Dire Straits, The Cure, The Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys, Erasure, Mott The Hoople, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Motorhead, Madness, Slade, The Sex Pistols, The Kinks, UB40, Black Sabbath, The Stranglers, Herman's Hermits, The Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, Culture Club, Simple Minds, Radiohead, Pulp, Def Leppard, T Rex, Stereophonics, Mumford and Sons, The Sweet, The Animals, The Move, Cream, Gerry and The Pacemakers, ELO, New Order, Massive Attack, The Tremeloes, Dave Clark Five, Fleetwood Mac, ABC, The Stone Roses, The Rubettes, Wings, Joy Division, The Shadows, Procol Harum, Ultravox, Mungo Jerry, The Real Thing, Wizard, Kasabian, Roxy Music, Mud, Showaddywaddy, Tears For Fears, Spandau Ballet, Take That, Mike and The Mechanics, Oasis, The Proclaimers, Cockney Rebel, Squeeze, The Verve, The Stranglers, The Searchers, Yes, Bay City Rollers, The Smiths, Genesis, Travis, Snow Patrol, The Yardbirds, Hot Chocolate, The Police, The Tornado's, Iron Maiden, OMD, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Manfred Mann, Supertramp, Deep Purple, James, The Jam, Coldplay, Simply Red, The Eurythmics, 10CC, and a load of others.
Loads are missed out! We have so many, it’s staggering.
It's a great list that still misses many bands , Muse The Zutons , Flirence and the Machine and Dexys Midnight Runners dor a start , but I wouldn't shout about Simply Red 💩
@@frase03 They're not missing anymore, but out of all those groups, you choose to pick on Simply Red?
the whole word knows the beatles are british
You should do one for solo artist can't wait to see your reaction to Elton John, Adele,Ed sheeran, etc being British aswell
None of them moved to America. They’re all properly British. I can understand some, but not knowing the Beatles were British is shocking!
I think another problem might be? Not having an enquiring mind. You listen to your favourite music, but you didn't wonder about where they came from, or looked into their backgrounds and musical influences.😊
Thats the problem with everything these days 😮
@@Aoife24601 No, some reactors are in it to educate as well as entertain .
These just seem like `America is the greatest. is engraved in there brain .
No excuse
To put it in perspective, the UK is broadly the same size as Florida (but without the tropical storms). The difference is we have about a third the population of the entire US, so population density argues in favour of more musicians getting together. Not always harmoniously, as you see.
It amazes me how people don’t know where bands are from. Americans don’t seem to know where bands are from either. What’s most annoying is they think every band is from America. They have lots of quantity over there but not much quality . We have had loads of foreign bands in UK but we always know where they’re from.
Really great reaction to Pink Floyd without Pink Floyd sound😮
Ah well you learn something every day- but no pink Floyd, the stones, deep purple Led Zeppelin were all British- what makes you think they were American? The world doesn't revolve around America especially in music, perhaps you need to do your research before jumping into music
I agree, they will freak out when they learn that Black musicians got their chance to perform to mixed audiences only when in Britain (Tina Turner, with the Stones ,Jimi Hendrix) and that it was the BRITISH Beatles who refused to play in America to White only audiences, so the promotors were forced to sell tickets to Black people as well .
It’s because American culture floods the world, unfortunately the rest of us have no choice about this. Probably for that reason the default setting is that everything must be from the USA, so I’m not surprised but I’d say on the whole Britain produces better talent, just generally, well used to
Britain innovates ,America jumps on the band waggon
Are you kidding? Britain is famous for its rock music. We have produced more bestselling and unique artists of any nation on the planet, except for the US with whom we are neck and neck. However, relative to our population size, the UK’s output of world-class music is literally second to NONE. This video only covers a few of them. We have given the world hundreds upon hundreds of musical artists in every era and every genre.
The best way to think about anything, whatever it is, is think British First, and everyone else as Runner Up..
You really think that Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles were American??
You seriously have to be joking.
Where are the Moody Blues?
It was the British bands in the 60s who brought blues to white America
none of the bands moved to america when they were young
The two guys look so disappointed that they have liked british bands music and like American music / bands only
Did you grow up under a rock!🏴
Lol clueless! of course they are British bands and there are many others not on this list. I'm shocked at them being shocked 😮 wow.
And not just British - all of them are English specifically (as are 99% of the many, many, many successful bands out of Britain), which is mind boggling when you think about it.
I first saw Floyd in 1969 and Zep around the same time, I also saw Queen in their early years - I was a bit surprised Yes were not on this list?
Guys I know it's all new to you but, The Uk Dominated the world with their Rock and Pioneered it!!! We have the greatest bands of all time that most US counter parts look upto! Heavy Metal, Punk and many more styles were started over in this Little Island. Black Sabbath Metal pioneers, Iron Maiden the list is endless....
its easy all top rock bands come from britain, even slash from guns and roses is british
I grow up listen to heavly rock and still listen today age 64
You guys look genuinely shocked by some of those bands being British
There are probably hundreds of other rock bands you thought were American that are actually British!
You should react to British Modern Band's that cracked the US by Watch Mojo also
There are enough British bands that are globally successful to do a top 100, never mind 10! And that would just be the best ones, not all of them.
Are you OK, Papa? You nearly fell off your chair. Now that's a reaction.😲 Shame they blocked out most of the tunes, but it was good to see you sing along, knowing all the words. We obviously have had a larger influence on your upbringing than you thought. Deeper dive on some of these artists (GOATs) please. I have seen a lot of these artists live. From Yorkshire
The thing is, it's really hard for British bands/singers to crack America, be it musical taste or cultural changes in reflection of the "now", but some do get through, and make an incredible impact, so much so, it's no wonder the "Britishness" of the bands is lost because people just assume they are home grown (US) talent.
Look at Blur, Oasis's Britpop rivals at the time, great band... Did nothing in the US, but their music is great none the less: th-cam.com/video/SSbBvKaM6sk/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/YSuHrTfcikU/w-d-xo.html as examples of their musical wares.
The Jam: th-cam.com/video/AE1ct5yEuVY/w-d-xo.html
Pulp: th-cam.com/video/yuTMWgOduFM/w-d-xo.html
The Verve (To me, they released one of the greatest albums of my generation, which was Urban Hymns): th-cam.com/video/1lyu1KKwC74/w-d-xo.html
The here and now though, noone can say Gerry Cinnamon th-cam.com/video/MqTO7LyLrfQ/w-d-xo.html is'nt special, he's a Scottish gem (And that's coming from an Englishman, lol... Hehehe), I have total respect for this man as an artist, writes his own stuff, no "producer" to muck around with his sound, isnt interested in "charts", just wants to go out and play his music to his fans... Total respect.

Best live band by a mile was The Who the clip shown was crap. I suggest you watch The Who playing "Young Man Blues" at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970. Lep Zep shared the stage with them once and The Who blew them off the stage. Robert Plant said the best live band he ever saw was The Who.
LOL. Dude, Pete Townsends can only play chords and smash guitars. And he's too dumb and egotistical to realize he should never pick up a mic if Rodger Daltrey is your lead singer. You gave one example of the Who playing One song epically. When Zeppelin has a whole concert called "The Song Remains the Same" that is considered an all time great performance by like everybody. Everyone thats into rock has heard of this concert. Name one concert everyone has heard of by the Who? I did see the Who three times when I Was young because my best buddy was a huge Who fan. And I am not saying they are not good in concert. But come on man. Stay in your lane.
Myth. The Who never blew Zeppelin off stage. Consensus was that they were about equal that day. Zeppelin were new however, but The Who were already seasoned.
Zeppelin at their peak were superior live to the Who. Three hour shows that were never the sane each night.
@@lyndoncmp5751 Robert Plant wouldn`t agree with you. Those 3hr shows consisted of mostly blues and rock covers and old English folk numbers thrown in including a 20min drum solo. It`s in print from people that were there that The Who stole the show, but dont tell...you were there and decided it was a tie.
@@brianshockledge3241 Re your comment "its in print from people that were there that the Who stole the show". Who would they be then ? Who fans perhaps ?? ...and its in print,,,wow must be true !!! Might make at least some sort of sense if the Who were the support act that night as opposed to being the headliners. They were much further into their career than Zep were at the time.. Nobody got "blown off stage" ...in fact there is a recent interview with a Who roadie/.security who remembers apologising to Zep as he was made to try to cut their set short by pulling the power due to..ahem.."curfew" reasons. That is also in print
@@badgeholderdave Who fans perhaps, Robert Plant for one. I`ve spoken to an American rock fan who loved both bands. He said he saw The Who around 30 times (as you say they were around first) and Zep around 20 times. He said out of those shows he could count the average/poor Who shows on one hand. He said for Zep he could count the great shows on one hand for consistently great/good shows for him there was a clear winner. He told me for the 20min drum solo spot many fans went to the restroom or went for a drink. Drum solo`s are great an all but..
Of course America has many amazing bands and singers….Elvis, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Beach Boys, Guns n’ Roses …..BUT…..us Brits have such a wealth of incredible bands since The Beatles. We just nailed it! There’s a few things we are good at….music is one of them!
Nope. None of them grew up in America. They are British born and bred.
All great bands!! Fabulous talent!! 😅
I think a lot of the confusion stems from the fact that most British musicians sound American when they sing.
Well, to be fair, most accents are indistinguishable when singing in the English language. It’s not that they all sound American (though, admittedly, some of our artists DO put on an American accent, like good old Mick).
Stones Roses ahead of Pink Floyd thats when I knew this was a farce.

Not surprising ,it`s Mojo
These people really have zero knowledge of our culture.
how can you not tell these bands from their acccnts? none of them sound american in any way.
The US is not the only country in the world 😆 music is universal, as you can see great popular music/bands also comes from Britain, and other countries inc Australia, Ireland, Canada, and other countries in Europe etc
No country (other than the US) has produced the same quality and quantity of world-class, globally successful artists as Britain - and relative to population size, we are head and shoulders above the US. Other countries in Europe could count the number of comparable music artists on one hand in terms of global success, impact, originality, stage presence and standard.
